(If you are) Why are you getting an XBox One?

I had a PS4 preordered but change it to Xbox One for a few reasons. The 180 and realizing that I sold my PS3 three times because the only time I wanted it was for Metal Gear Solid 4, Uncharted, and The Last of Us. Sony's exclusives just don't do it for me. Killzone, Infamous, Rachet and Clank, Little Big Planet, and pretty much all the others did nothing for me.

Meanwhile I had my 360 since 2005 and it has been a great system with some really special games on it: Halo, Gears, Forza, Crackdown, Dead Rising, and all the 3rd party co-op games I got because all my friends have a 360. Also the OS has been hands down better than Sony's. The PS3 OS is and was horrible. I expect the same from the Xbox One.

I also find the launch lineup to be better and once again all my friends are getting the Xbox over Playstation. All the TV stuff, kinect, and getting early DLC from games like COD, Battlefield, and the Division are just gravy.

I'm sure I'll get a PS4 down the road but not until much later.

The main reason I'm buying the Xbox One is because I've been there at launch for every console since the PS1, and I don't want to break my combo.

I feel the exact same way and have had the exact same thing happen to me with Microsoft's consoles. Different tastes and stuff, weird. Wanna get mad about it with me?

The launch games are just better IMO. I see nothing that separates the PS4 in terms of games from Xbox One at launch. I don't care about power, I care about games.

I'm getting an Xbox One because:

1. I can count on Microsoft having an online store that's practical. Meaning, when I buy a game from the Xbox One Store, I can count on it being installed and downloaded all in the same process. No reserving disk space for the game before installing.

2. I can count on the online working well. Seamless transitions.

3. Titanfall (Sucks that we'll have to wait until next year.)

4. 180's

5. Dat controller.

All this being said, I still plan on buying a PS4.

I want to get both xboxOne and PS4 but this year money is tight so could only choose one.

So for me it was Xbox one, why because I like the launch line up and the games coming out Q1 14.

Forza 5
DR3
Project Spark
Titan Fall
Ryse
Crimson Dragon

PS4 next Xmas.

1. Games. - Dead Rising 3. Forza Motorsport 5. Ryse. Killer Instinct. Plus tons of future releases such as Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive, and Titanfall.

2. Xbox Live. - Although I think cloud is overhyped, I love the xbox live community. Kind of grew up with it over this generation. Hopefully the cloud will provide dedicated servers for most games. Also, my friends list is important to me.

3. Controller - That thing looks beautiful. I thought the 360 controller was perfect until i saw this new Xbox one controller.

4. Achievements / Gamerscore I realize PS4 will have trophies and steam continues to have them, but Xbox 360 started it, and that's where i began. I like getting achievements, mainly on xbox.

Well..I must admit that after today my opinion of X1 has changed dramatically. I had a chance to get some hands on time with the console at the fan expo in Toronto. I played a few rounds of Killer Instinct with my buddy. :) First off, the system itself looked smaller and sleeker compared to what I had associated in photographs. The controller was also very nice. Again, smaller than I pictured and the triggers felt great although I prefer the bumpers from the 360 controller. These ones had a less rigid feel and came across as a little cheaper. Face buttons felt good and the D-Pad is a step up from the 360. I also loved the feel of the analog sticks especially the textured edges which prevents your thumbs from slipping.

Now as for Killer Instinct, visually it didn't blow me away BUT there were some very nice details like the way Sabrewolf's fur moved in the wind and the very impressive sparks that were flying all over the place in the background. The game definitely gave me the feeling of the old school Killer Instinct I used to play in the arcades. And that surprised me and made me smile. I also got a chance to try PS4 (and this is the shocking part) but I actually came away more impressed by the X1! A few days ago, I had no intention of ever buying the console. But my experience today has really thrown a wrench into that plan. Maybe it was the nostalgia of Killer Instinct but it seems that X1 looks to be the more impressive console at launch. Color me surprised.

Their launch lineup just seems more appealing (to me) overall than ps4's, Project Spark looks amazing as someone who loves to create things in games like Halo, Little Big Planet, and Trials. I also love the Forza franchise, and am a long time Killer Instinct fan. This doesn't mean I won't also buy a ps4, but just not at launch.

The launch games. Don't need a better reason IMO, they look great.

I still have both consoles preordered. All those sweet Vita ports do have me wondering if I need a PS4. Not canceling now though.

Oh, and I like the Kinect. It's great for my family.

I gots to have my Killer Instinct and Forza. Also want to get back into console gaming, no point of spending all that time and money putting together a nice gaming room if I don't use it and I've been spending nearly 100% of my time in my office gaming on my PC.

Also want Titanfall and unless I see other wise, the Xbox One version of Destiny will be better integrated with Xbox Live.

Oh yeah, forgot about fantasy football, that's gonna make a lot of my friends' heads turn.

Maybe buy one for my pops too. He needs a new DVD/Bluray player and watches a boatload of TV as well. We should be able to Skype while playing games right?

Friends
Better Controller (PS4 looks great tho)
Better Online Ecosystem (based on XBL vs PSN)
Halo 5
Titanfall
Forza 5
Future Gears (possible?)

Ha, same reason everyone else is buying it for...

I'll pick one up if Halo 5 looks good. Untill then GTA and Ultra Street Fighter will make do.

If Halo looks bad though, I probably won't buy a next gen console. I don't play PC games either

xbox has the best controller, xbox live (friends and games run smooth online) and of course the games.

I preordered both, but will sell the ps4 if the prices are good. ( my ps3 is used for bluerays only mostly)

I love football and am very interested in the fantasy football.

HALO and I've wanted a KI game sine MS bought rare.

BTW my identity was stolen from PSN, I don't think I can trust them with my info again.

not getting one at launch....

but ill be buying an Xbone for:

1. Forza: it will be painful to not play Forza 5 at launch but im almost positive ill have an Xbone before FM6 is released

2. Halo: im a sucker for the franchise even though ive gotten progressively more disappointed with each game in the series

3. Would have been the fact that my friends are primarily Xbox gamers, but most of them have decided to purchase PS4's instead of Xbone's this generation

My wife doesnt game at all except on the Kinect. We also watch a lot of cable tv and are both excited for a new cable interface. Im super pumped that the interface will overlay cable so later in the night I know when my friends sign on and will also let my wife know im ready to game without having to ask. Definitely looking forward to Kinect Sports Rivals.

My friends and I play multiplayer much more than I play singerplayer. Well pick up BF4 and/or COD at launch, titanfall in the spring, Destiny next fall for a nice string of experiences. Also looking forward to Ryse as my single player launch game.

Would like to play Infamous but that experience can wait and not lose impact. Multiplayer shooters I prefer to play at launch. Will think about adding a PS4 after a backlog of single player games are there for me in Infamous, the order, etc.

Halo 5.

Kinect 2.0 hopefully being good.

Peaked at 3, with a steady spiral down to the pile that is Halo 4. My disappointment of the year, which I base mostly off of the campaign (multiplayer is alright I guess). Yet the cycle continues, hoping the next entry will be the return to form.

The absolute dealbreaker is gone. Microsoft has done some work at fixing things. The Kinect effectively only adds $50, which is somewhat agreeable. And despite of everything, I like games, and the Xbox One has some. Might have more by the time it launches here. Remedy and Suda 51 being the most enticing reasons for me.

Basically I've considered it so many times to cancel my XB1 preorder and just get me a PS4. Most of my friends have Sony and it didn't help when they announced Belgium was going to be a Tier 2 country.

But still, XB1 stills outweigh the PS4 if you a ask me..

Curious was Kinect is going to bring
Xbox live and marketplace
Games (KI, Ryse ...)

I've preordered my XB1 on Amazon UK yesterday and canceled it at my local game store, I'm 100% certain I'm going for MS now!

I thought ODST was AMAZING precisely because it was Bungie trying something new, and Reach has some of the best levels in the entire series--I've replayed many of them a LOT. It's my go-to split-screen co-op shooter.

Halo 4, though, wow. Those levels suck. Lots of flat space, a screwy difficulty (Heroic used to feel like it had been designed for me, personally), not-that-interesting enemy weapons, a story that feels like it's missing an entire act (starting just after you chase off the floaty orb thing). I just... I have no real desire to return to Halo 4's campaign.

It feels like Halo 4's levels came from Killzone.

  • Dedicated servers for most (all?) multiplayer games, that's a big plus
  • Most of my friends are on Xbox
  • I have ~75000 gamerscore and barely any SEN trophies
  • Have you seen Titanfall?
  • Xbox interface was preferable this gen so I'm expecting the same next gen
  • Xbox 360 controller was the best this gen so hoping for similar next gen
  • Halo, I guess...
  • Fully expecting Kinect and 1080p camera integration to be amazing and useful
  • Better included headset, more likely to have an active online community
I was heavily swayed by Sony's PS4 conference, but all the 180s have won me back (thankfully). I'm already too invested in the Xbox ecosystem.

Agreed about the Halo 4 campaign. It completely lacked the fun and little comedic touches of the Bungie games and the levels were dull and promethians boring to fight. I actually think Reach had the best individual campaign levels.

Preordered it, first time getting a console day one. Biggest reasons are my brothers and Xbox live friends are getting one hence not have to move ecosystem. The 360 was the console that I moved from pc gaming predominantly to console. The controller is fantastic and am looking forward to the new one. The biggest reason is the games I'm looking forward to Microsoft more that Sony's.

I'm not getting either, but for my money the actual games look more interesting on the One.... which is surely the most important thing?

I pre-ordered it for Forza 5 (and for Titanfall but that's not due in 2013) right before Gamescom, but I'm a little happier with my decision after they announced pre-orders come with FIFA 14.

Still not 100% about my decision. Would rather have a PS4 for the extra power and indies can set in (digital) store prices (can see more sales on the PS4 and don't think MS are good at setting prices for consumers) but I really want Forza 5 and Titanfall.

Xbox One controller @ £89.99 on Amazon UK, this surely must not be the final price?
It's $59.96 on Amazon US..
