(If you are) Why are you getting an XBox One?

For me I like the launch line up with Killer Instinct, Crimson Dragon and Dead Rising 3.

edit: Also forgot about next year we have the possibility of TitanFall, Quantum Break and Halo as exclusives.

Awesome fun games and Kinect mainly for my younger cousins, who all (4 different families) bought Kinect 1.0 after playing mine. System seller no matter what people here say.
I know 2 families who are getting it because of Kinect. Their kids say most of their schoolmates want one because of Kinect. It is a bigger system seller than GAF wants to admit.

Wont be getting it at launch but definitly getting it down the line at some point. Need to have one ready for those eventual exclusives that I as a gamer will I have to play XD. Still dont understand the hype for Titanfall though. Maybe its because I dont like mechs but its not appealing to me. I will try it though since you never really know till you try something.

Friends, the launch line up, and i actually really am looking forward to kinect and the media features.

I have the PS4 preordered and some of the games for it im SOOOO pumped for, but quite honestly the launch looks unimpressive. I might wait on a PS4.

Maybe im missing something and someone can convince me otherwise

Late for the party, but, games. Yes, the games are looking great. Do I need to make a list too?
Also, the OS and Upload Studio, and Kinect, and well, almost everything.

Will get a Ps4 when Last of Us 2 comes up, or Order 1886 maybe

I will get one post launch only because I have to have everything.

Honestly though, I will probably only buy a few games that I can't get for PC, and will most likely cancel my live account.

Two quick questions guys.. I'm from Belgium and I'm considering to pre-order an XB1 from Amazon UK:

  • Do I already have to pay the full amount to Amazon while I'm pre-ordering? (Looks that way but it's confusing)
  • What about importing an XB1 to Belgium? Off-line was fine right? Only no live access?

I'm picking up a PS4 but I'm also picking up four more systems in hopes of selling them. If I can get at least $125 profit for each, I will gladly pick up an Xbox One. Titan looks awesome and Project Sparks looks phenomenal.

I like PS and will own PS4, but I'm an Xbox guy at heart.

I was always going to own an XB1; Xbox Live and the OS are a big deal to me.

@Al13n: You DON'T have to pay anything to pre-order from Amazon. I'm not sure about #2.

1. Amazon usually charges when they ship.

2. You would still need to be online to download the day one patch but after that the console will work offline only if you want. CBOAT leaked the Microsoft documents of FAQ for importers. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=653023 If you want to buy something from the Marketplace you would need a CC with the same billing address as where the marketplace represents (UK Address for UK Marketplace). The work around is iyou can buy UK Microsoft money cards instead of having a CC.

edit: Also Alberto Penello talked about it on Gaf and Microsoft confirmed that the games and DLC are region free.

1) nope, you get charged when the order gets shipped
2) idk, maybe you'll have to set up any proxy trick, but we still don't know what will happen to those who import the system to countries where the console isn't supposed to be released by then, I guess MS will have to say anything about it. remember there will be a day-one patch (mandatory), but as of now XB1 is region-free so I guess MS will have to clarify about this issue.

1. Amazon doesn't charge for pre-orders until it ships
2. Xbox Live will work fine, although digital purchases require a local payment from whichever of the 13 marketplaces you choose, but you can play any content anywhere once you buy it.

Great thanks guys, for the clear answers.. Just pre-ordered mine on Amazon UK and canceled it at my local game store.

1) With Amazon they don't charge until it ships. That's how it is for Amazon US, and I can only assume Amazon UK does the same. You can pay it off over time using Amazon gift cards (buy an amazon gift card and apply it to the order) if you want to purchase it layaway style.

2) Yes, you can play offline just like the 360. At a minimum, you need a connection once to install the day one update and of course, login to your Live account. You will still be able to access Live just fine in your country, but you won't be able to purchase content unless you have a payment instrument for a "supported" region. That means you won't be able to buy content using your credit card from Belgium. However, what you can do is order XBL payment cards from Amazon UK along with your console, and you can use those to buy content just fine. Due to licensing rights and such, some video content or apps won't be available in your region until Belgium is officially supported. For example, you won't be able to download the BBC app since that is only allowed to be downloaded in the UK itself. You won't have any problems playing games though. Obviously once Belgium is supported, then you can use your credit card and won't have to purchase UK XBL cards.

As for the OP itself, my reasons are as follows:
- Innovative OS (a-sync matchmaking, snap mode, built-in Skype which does come with Skype Premium too which costs money on PC but free with Gold
- Kinect (mostly voice commands, but I'll totally get Kinect Sports as well)
- My friends are getting the X1 and I want to play with them
- Games, games, games! To me, I think the X1 has the best looking exclusives. Dead Rising 3, Forza, Ryse, D4, Crimson Dragon, Titanfall, Project Spark, Quantum Break, Halo 5, Zoo Tycoon (seriously, it looks fun). That's on top of all of the great third-party games.
- Dedicated servers for multiplayer

I love the controller and most of my friends and family play on Xbox. I've always been a KI fan (I'm finally happy to see a remake) and I've enjoyed Forza more than GT. The only exclusives I really care about from Sony are ones from Santa Monica and Naughty Dog. And they're not releasing gameplay of anything. Lol. That said, I really wanna we what Halo will look like on next gen systems. It is the game that really got me into FPS with the OG Xbox.

Games first and foremost (DR3, KI, Forza, Titanfall, etc)
Xbox Live
Controller looks really cool
Kinect features
Also important, my wife wants one.

It's always exciting when new consoles come out and you boot them up for the first time.

Titanfall is only a timed exclusive, lets get that out of the way.

Killer instinct is awesome though. Sony got no fighters (
Titanfall is this gens mass effect/bioshock. Sure, you can wait on it or get it on the pc, but really now? Who are we kidding? Titanfall will be on the x1 for a year. thats a whole 12 months you're talking about where xbox's library will only grow within that time frame and one less game the ps4 will have.

I have two friends in their 30s who play COD with each other often but live 500 miles apart. The moment the One was revealed with COD they put in their preorder. Seems like brand recognition and loyalty go pretty far.

No friends have Sony stuff, and I love MP
Familiarity with XBL
Can't bring myself to dump my XBL profile/points
Titanfall and Forza
And of course, the controller is the best in the business.

If PS4 had an XBox controller, I could probably justify moving to PS4 primarily.

While the PS4 will be probably my first dip in next-gen, I'll be getting Xbox One for Dead Rising, Halo, hopefully a new Alan Wake, and other exclusives that I can't get anywhere else. However, I won't be doing so until at least a year into the console's life cycle.

Oh, and TitanFall looks like a hell of a time.

Forza immersion
Voice control over tv channel (and mute I hope) so I don't have to search for my remote
Snap
Skype
Upload
improved console tech and features

If the question is qualified with "instead of just sticking with the 360" it's mainly Forza 5/shiny. If qualified with "instead of a PS4," it's mainly Forza 5, Xbox circle of friends, and Xbox One tech/features.

I'll get a One eventually for Halo and the other accumulated exclusives. Probably won't be until 2015 at the earliest because I'd need a good bundle at $400 or the console itself for around $300-ish.

Leo doesn't approve.

I'm getting the PS4 and it will be my primary system but the 180 on the policies, Killer Instinct and yes, Ryse have convinced me to also pick up an Xbone.

I don't want to miss out on any games on either system and if all of the sudden one starts to take over, I'll be covered.

The only downside is the paywall on both systems. I'm not paying to get online on both systems. Hopefully PSN is good enough and has enough people on it to be worth it but if somehow Microsoft wins again, I'll switch over to XBL.

  • Has more exclusives that I like
  • a better launch line up for me
  • I wanted to get into motion gaming/apps this gen and kinect looks the best motion device so far
  • Better value for me because I want a motion device + fifa 14 + I live in the UK
  • So far the OS looks faster and better laid out then the PS4's
  • I think it will be the smoothest online experience

I have a Wii U, I plan on getting all the systems this gen. Even if it weren't for work, I'd still dig xbox live, I need forza, titanfall certainly looks good and I assume there will be more good games.

Forza 5, Halo 5, Dead Rising 3, and it's guaranteed to get Titanfall. I'm sure at least one game between Ryse, Killer Instinct, and Crimson Dragon will be good.

I'm getting a PS4 first, the Xbox One comes in 2014 where i live.. But if i has to choose one. I'll buy a Xbox One, Just because it's has games like Titanfall and Dead Rising. Xbox One launch is stronger then PS4's IMO.

I'm eventually going to get an XB1, a year or so after it comes out, because it's still going to be a great machine with some good exclusives

I keep going back and forth on the One right now. I'm definitely getting a PS4 first, but I'm not sure about the One's exclusives right now. I can play Titanfall on 360 which is what all my friends are going to get it for, and nothing else stands out. 343 has given me no hope for Halo 5 after 4's atrocious multiplayer. Crackdown 3 and some new IPs might get me fully on board if they announce anything soon.

Well currently i am considering xbox one but not guaranteed. If i ever do it's because the games seem to appeal to me more. The UI is a a lot better imo and the controller as well. A lot will depend if Halo 5 can go back to their roots. We'll see.

Nfl deal (nfl ticket sure to follow)
xbox live
tv intergration
More apps
kinect 2.0
better launch lineup
better controller imho
dedicated servers (fucking halo, cod, and bf4)
Nfl is in talks with Google as I type. I would be shocked(and would give a thumbs up to MS if they can pull that off "at the console level").

Day one for titanfall and killer instinct.
I also like the idea that its does more media stuff (controlling my receiver) than the PS4 or a gaming PC on the tv

Because I owned an Xbox and Xbox 360, have loved almost everything Microsoft has done with their systems, and absolutely adore Halo.

Halo is my number one gaming franchise and I cannot go without playing one. I need an Xbox One to do so.

Add the fact that my best friend is getting one too, so I might as well get it to play with him and many others.

I cannot wait.

EDIT: Add in TitanFall, the eventual Gears of War, the NFL deal, the Kinect, the OS, and other features, and to me the PS3 doesn't seem like as good of a choice.

I'm not planning on getting one at launch, but I see myself getting it eventually. A lot of it will have to do with Halo 5. Also really intrigued with Quantum Break.
