Thankfully, since the movie is a Pixar/Disney deal; it'll make the money and have the success by default and it's about time a Brad Bird movie got the respect it deserves. This is by far my favorite Pixar movie, above Toy Story 2. After seeing the movie, I'd like to see every Superhero movie be done in CG like this. There's no limits to what they can do in animation, so you basically see the ultimate showcase of superpowers.

My only complaint is that Samuel L. Jackson needed to be in the movie more as he was missing from the middle of it. But he ruled for every second he was in it.

It really sucks that the Disney/Pixar deal is over because I'd want to see more Incredibles movies - but only if Brad Bird was involved. If you do not go see this movie in theaters, you suck.

Try to see it on DLP as this is some of the best lighting in any CG animated film yet.

Slight spoiler:
The baby fucking RULES.

as for disney and pixar being over, I wouldn't count on it.. pixar still doesn't have a new distributor and with Disney announcing and instating a new CEO next year I wouldn't put it at all out of the question, well, unless they appoint Iger, but even then it is possible.

Bottom line is Pixar really wants to stay with Disney, just not Eisner. Now that Eisner is going anything can happen.

Pixar really wants to stay with Disney, yes, but they also want a much better deal. Pixar was beyond stupid in signing their five-picture deal. It was incredibly shortsighted and vastly underestimated the potential and future of Pixar's endeavors. They lose all rights to their creations and - if I recall right - half the profits. That's a rotten deal.

Anyway, The Incredibles was absolutely awesome. I caught the midnight showing and I was blown away. I was worried that my high expectations couldn't be matched, but the movie really surprised me and topped those expectations. By far my favorite movie of the year. There isn't even anything close in my book.

I guess I suck then. I also haven't seen Shrek 2.
shrek 2 was meh.... I mean I laughed really hard with it, but when I left I had really no desire to see it again.. I will probably buy it this week only for my daughter if I buy it at all..

Which is the obvious difference between Pixar and Dreamworks PDI. Timeless vs. hip.

are you guys series? these movies (finding nemo, toy story, shark tale, shrek, etc) are a fucking joke (and not a funny one).

the incredibles looks like a generic movie i'd expect to see on the nickelodean kids hour. or an animated version of 7th heaven (only with superheroes).

i guess i could be wrong, but i'm probably not. if i'm going to go see the incredibles, why don't i also go and buy the following while i'm out:

1. spy kids 1-3
2. vagisil
3. SI for Kids magazine subscription
4. an suv or minivan to take my children to soccer games

suck it down ladies, these movies suck! i would rather go see Saw again than see the incredibles... and saw was terrible

I'm kind of losing my taste for these flicks. In my movies I like some murder, maybe a little torture, ten or more "fucks," and if it can be fit in some sex all mixed in a character driven plot. Adult situations at the core.

lol.. the fact that you lumped in shark's tale and shrek shows you have no idea as to what you are talking about.

if you can't see the difference between those two movies and a pixar movie, well, that says a lot about you.

though not as much as actually putting down money to see Saw.

And of course, running over hookers.

Pixar movies are masterfully told stories. Brad Bird is an influential figure in animation whose previous film, The Iron Giant, is also a brilliantly told story.

Hollywood cinema's greatest achievement is its ability in storytelling and Pixar has taken this to heart. Their stories are moving, accessible, and entertaining.

In short, Pixar films are Hollywood cinema at its best. When they team up with a respected film-maker and animator like Brad Bird, there is plenty of reason to be excited.

I'll go see it, looks pretty funny.

I've heard its actually a little darker in tone than the othe rPixar stuf... could you clarify wothout spoiling>?

Well, there's a lot of violence and obvious, if sometimes unstated, death. Real threats, real destruction, that sort of thing. That's really the darker stuff.

I suppose I suck, then. :p

I liked Toy Story, and Toy Story 2 was not that bad, but everything else I've seen from Pixar hasn't been very good. Finding Nemo, in particular, was very irritating to me.

The Incredibles is a pretty dark flick, especially considering Pixar's pedigree. That said, I enjoyed it a lot.

Actually, to add to this, there's also some social commentary that paints a somewhat bleak look at certain aspects of society.

Yeah, the whole premise of the backstory is part of Bird's brilliance :lol

THAT WAS TOTALLY AWESOME!

I could kick myself for almost not going...
the adults in the theatre talked to most and laughed the most during the middle
but the end half the kids went wild.

Boundin' was not worth the hype

I want to see another film with this family damn you Disney, do what ever you must to get Pixar to do it!

boundin actually got more applause than the movie did, and rightfully so.. boundin brings back the genius days of the cartoon short.. absolutely amazing..

but the movie.. man... easily pixar's best.. yes, better than toy story 2.. a wonderful family story set to the backdrop of the best damn superhero movie EVER. better than x2, better than spidey 2... seriously, superhero fun doesn't get any more fun than this.

10/10

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the man with the worst taste in movies on the board.

Take a hike, buddy. The Incredibles and any given Pixar film (Okay, I'll give you A Bug's Life) is cinematic gold.

I agree with this whole post. I just got back, and man did this movie rock. Aside from the spoiler above, I have some favorite scenes

when the guards are in the truck on the island watching the news footage, and one says "Everytime a person runs, we do a shot" that had me rolling

And I loved the kid on the big wheels. He was pretty funny.

It wasn't awesome..........it was.....INCREDIBLE!!!! :D

No, seriously, it was thoroughly entertaining on many, many levels. Young kids will like the visuals and the ending, but they'll never understand even a quarter of the depth. The writing is brilliant.

Im going to see this, but Im gonna sneak out of class early on Tuesday to do it... I want to avoid the small children as much as possible. Pixar hasnt made a bad movie.. and they have all been really excellent movies aside from Bugs Life which wasnt that good. Dreamworks on the other hand makes movies with as little story as possible and lost of pop culture references that are funny exactly once. Its like a bad episode of family guy... their only good movie was Antz, which for my money is better than Bugs Life... but that has to do more with Woody Allen then anything else.

It's really more of a Brad Bird movie that's blessed by some Lasseter mentoring. AFAIK aside from the obvious Pixar animators, a very large portion of the Iron Giant crew also worked on The Incredibles (and Bird said that was the case at Comic Con).

Thats fine by me as well, Iron Giant is one of the best movies Ive seen.. Vin Diesels best movie. Well, I guess that doesnt say alot, but it was still a good movie.

Incredibles was really, really good. Unfortunately, the projectionist didn't get the memo that the EP:3 trailer should be attached... ah well. I played the hell out of it yesterday.

I may be in the minority, but I enjoyed Bug's Life probably more than the first Toy Story. or Monsters Inc.

This is not a Pixar movie, this is a Brad Bird movie. The best thing going in animation today, in America anyway. Everyone must go see it. And FMT, the fact that you mentioned Shark Tale, Shrek 2, and even Pixar's other movies with The Incredibles shows that you don't got a clue. If you won't see this at least check out The Iron Giant. The movie has frickin' tanks and military trying to shoot down a robot. How could that be bad?

Japan has Miyazaki. America has Brad Bird :)

People in this thread that quickly disregard this movie as being "just an animated movie" should get off their high horses and go see the movie. Even with all the movies I've seen this year, The Incredibles is easily in my top three, if not my favorite. (Behind Eternal Sunshine and Spider-man 2.)

I'm not to crazy about the character design. The Dad is the only one I like. Wtf is up with the daughter? I expecter HER to be the one that can stretch...nasty. I was ok with there being kids in it since it's a kid's flick, but when I saw the baby I shivered. The baby can only mean that there's gonna be the obligatory "baby defeats badass badguy" or "baby saves the day punchline." PROVE ME WRONG, INCREDIBLES.

Anyway, still looking forward to it because the dialogue was still good, as well as the animation itself.

That line was definitely for the 20's crowd. Anyone who went to college laughed their ass off at that line.

Just got back from it tonight. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but I still think Monsters Inc is my favorite Pixar flick still. To me it still has the best ending of any Pixar flick. That's not to put down The Incredibles by any bit, it's still got Pixar's magic to it.

Watched it this afternoon, great stuff. I was rolling at a lot of lines and stuff including the shot line. Brad Bird is awesome. People should support his work by buying the Iron Giant SE dvd now.
