Why are you not buying a Switch 2?

Fuck nintendo, I couldn't care less about the price of the system, but the games? Family friendly my ass.

Now you have to exchange your kids kidneys for a new pokemon game. If your kid wants both of them versions then he better has a sibling with a organ to spare.

Not really interested in Mario Kart, don't like their pricing for games and I already played majority of third party games they're releasing day one on other platforms

Just not really into Nintendo. I loved them as a kid, but they have nothing that appeals to me as an adult. I was born in 1990 so I was 6-7 years old when I played Super Mario RPG. Loved it. Got me into RPGs. So I respect them for getting me into gaming, but I just don't feel they produce anything worth my time. I thought I may get a 2 because of my kids, but even they just PC game and don't touch the original Switch, so I don't see a point.

Personally there is not a single game on release that interest me, plus I already played this old multiplatform games with better graphics and performance year ago on other platforms I don't see a reason to buy one just yet .

Combo of it being more expensive, I'm not excited to jump on the $80 games train, Steam Deck has taken some of the portable value away, and Mario Kart is not enough of a reason to get one for me.

Mario Kart is fun game for me when people are over, but not really the game I play online, and I'd only play it single-player so much.

When Donkey Kong, Metroid Prime 4, and some other game come out that I want I'll get one eventually. Maybe if I'm lucky an OLED version will get announced.

I have many games I want to play on my original Switch before I retire it and buy a new one. By the time I'm done there should be a Mariko version of it, with quite better batterytime.

I don't care that much about getting better performance for the Switch games I'm playing for the first time. It'll be cool to revisit them though.

Oh like if they made a Switch 2 "edition" lol.

I wouldn't blink at a genuinely insane next gen Mario. So we are talking a Super Mario 64 or Galaxy. Not a Sunshine or 3D World.

An Odyssey version isn't worth that

If they could do anything on the level of botw, i would buy the whole kaboodle, no problem. Mario, Metroid, Kart, anything that could blow me away like that game did. For that? $80, $530, no problem.

No games I want outside of donkey Kong, and even then I'm worried it will turn out like Odyssey, the poor BC, and the overly complicated approach to upgrading games with all the nickel and diming have turned me off the thing. If enough must have exclusives eventually exist I'll bite but as it stands I only have space for one switch console and the switch 2 isn't doing anything to make it deserving of that spot.

I also thought Nintendo's first party output on the switch was abysmal so my expectations for this switch 2 aren't very high on that front either.

All these are very valid points tbh. I must say I am very intrigued though by what Nintendo will do with an ampere GPU and having run out of Wii U games to port. No harm in wanting the receipts first though.

No killer exclusives except maybe Duskbloods but need to see more, i am not the biggest DK fan. Switch 1 to Switch 2 seems like a fake generational leap.

Not keen on many of Nintendo's decisions involving the system: extra charges for Switch 1 games, no OLED, no hall effect joysticks, $80 games, keycards. MKW is also not a system seller for me.

Price of the system is too high. Price of the games are too high. Upgrade paths for games From Switch to Switch 2 are not compelling. Listed game lineup is not compelling. Nintendo's move to raise the rates of games and accessories while Steam and PlayStation are holding the line and PlayStation has even placed its hardware and accessories on discount for a few weeks.

The overall vibe of the Switch 2 feels anti-consumer and designed to make the hobby of gaming more expensive and less accessible. As such it's not a platform that I have interest in supporting. Steam and PlayStation are doing right by me for now. That may well change in the future and make me change my stance on the Switch 2, but right now the system is an absolute non-starter for me.

I'm 95% of my time at home, I don't want to pay for a screen I'll never use. If they did a cheaper screenless "home console" version I would consider it.
Also games are too expensive and they never have decent sales.

The Switch 2 somehow skipping my country on their official release, and that's a big no-no, because now all the scalpers and mobs will be having a field day in jacking up the Switch 2 price, to the point that it's better to buy a PS5 instead (there's currently no information about Switch 2's price on my local sellers ATM, but I won't be surprised if the price could reach $600++).

I'm just not particularly interested in the games they offer, primarily. Nintendo taking the piss with prices doesn't help, but I've said many times that Mario Kart is a boring franchise done better by others.

I used to say I would have been interested in improved performance BC, but Nintendo have Nintendo'd that too. I would rather buy a Switch 1 and games, find a way of ripping them to PC, and doing the performance upgrades myself.

I already have a ROG ALLY Z1E. That thing is amazing. I'm playing Spiderman 2018 at at high settings using my xreal air glasses and it's pretty mind-blowing experience. Plus I have access to ALL my games on pc at no extra charge. Oh and it's an emulation beast.

Our family is getting 2 on launch day. I'll be honest, I don't know why I am getting one. It's going to be a slow run until Christmas. I've never fet such a low level of excitement for a console release in my life. It's just kind of there. I've been on the fence to cancel one of them, because I know it's probably going to collect dust for a long time.

Modern gaming and the current level of greed by all manufacturers is really pushing me back into retro gaming. Some of Nintendo's choices are just pushing the fans good will too far, for a quick buck. They are all doing it.

On the flip side if you are getting the Switch 2 what makes it worth it for you?
Nintendo. It's not like I'll skip their games and literally the whole family want to play Mario Kart World, I personally want to play Fast Fusion and Donkey Kong as well plus the upgrades for the Zelda games and Metroid Prime 4 with mouse aiming and analog movement.

Seems like Switch 2 will be a nice bed companion for Cyberpunk too, save sync from Steam and pushing ahead of Steam Deck, very nice. Hoping for more save syncing from other devs, it's a great feature.

In the end, if I wouldn't get one what would be my plan going forward for anything from Nintendo?
Emulators? Nah. I always have the Nintendo consoles.

Don't mind waiting a few years for potentially an oled model and more available games.

I could say I'm waiting for a price drop, but it's Nintendo, so who would I be kidding?

I'm waiting for impressions and maybe a hardware revision. Most of the news that comes out about the device makes it seem like it I don't use it exactly how Nintendo tells me then the hardware will brick itself. I'm happy to wait until next year when new games are coming out for it.

I'm really eager to find out how much various Switch 1 games benefit without any "upgrade pack". This is an area nickel and diming can get pretty bad. We've been there done that with Sony. But in the end you would end up getting a better experience on your PS4 Pro or PS5 without having to buy many patches.

It starts getting ridiculous though when BOTW has a Switch 2 edition that costs more. Like dear god it's a Wii U game. This is like Last of Us remake level nonsense but it's not even a remake. It's a triple dip. Given TOTK can be taken as a mega glorified DLC, with its own upgrade pack/$80 version, just lol.

In the end I know I'll want one for new exclusive games and the earlier I buy one the more value I get out of the same investment. This is why even though I loathe the key cards, hardly any of those games were going to be exclusive anyway. It's a lot of annoying stuff that doesn't impact the core reason to get it, but will mean I buy less games and accessories for it and have less good will for what they're doing.

Other

I'm done with day one/launch window purchases. I don't want to deal with the stress of pre-ordering and wondering when I'll be able to find one. I'll just get one later. Now that I live in a lake town and we have a boat, fishing has become a much bigger hobby of mine.

No OLED for 450 bucks is deal breaker enough for me. Virtually any device, including PC and Deck is OLED in my house. Hell, even my kitchen appliances like Air Fryer are monitored on monochrome OLED.

Other than that: outside of Mario Kart that I have absolutely zero interest in, there's just a bunch of old games with worse than Deck performance and more than Steam price. I was waiting for new Metroid but it could be emulated with better native res regardless.

With Switch 1 Mario Odyssey was a great reason to buy a system on launch (I was that poor sod that owned Wii U and finished BoTW there), but here I just find the overall launch lineup too focused on hardcore fans. Plus hardware novelty factor is zero this time and the value proposition just isn't there.

This is just my personal perspective ofc.

Not interested.

During the WiiU era I realised that I just don't enjoy their games that much anymore. But even if I did, the price gouging Nintendo is trying to pull is a big turn off. I got better things to spend my money/time on.

Nintendo doesn't have a single IP I'm interested in so no interest in buying one, I want my games to be epic cinematic story experiences and that's just not what Nintendo does.

my reason is, the price is at the same level with PS5pro here, about $800, and knoowing the real price forced me to wait for a moment until the price is not that high.
my local seller is like scalper these days. ugh... i wish i could live in better region

I own a switch and I seen no reason to get a switch 2. Better graphics? Thanks but no thanks. That's not what I expect from a nintendo console.
Besides, it's too expensive.

i'm buying it, but only because i had a discount that I needed to use before july and a ps5, being already a pc gamer, does not offer that much more.

but currently have buyer remorse after checking the switch aile at the electronic store yesterday.

will likely have fun for a bit with mario kart, but end up selling the console afterwards

The value just isn't there. Ended up buying a refurbished Steam Deck OLED and trading in my PS5 Slim for a PS5 Pro. Maybe in a few years when a S2 OLED is announced and the console has a handful of remarkable first party titles I'm interested in.

At the moment I'm perfectly happy with my Switch OLED. I mostly play retro, indie and Nintendo first party on it and thus, don't really care about performance upgrades (even though Switch 2 has very nice hardware and will certainly make ny Switch library shine a bit brighter).

I also have a ROG Ally X, which I'm currently in love with. I've gravitated towards PC in the last two years so there is where I spend most of my time. It's difficult for me to justify another pricey console, which is relatively similar in power and form factor, and its associated accessories. All the third party games on S2 at launch I have already played on other systems and I'm not interested in Mario Kart World.

So I'll wait for a revision or two. Hopefully Nintendo has adressed a couple of concerns by then. Maybe increased its storage capacity. Improved its battery life. Sorted out the BC and made more games compatible with performance upgrades.

It'll be interesting to see how Switch 2 is received. I think Nintendo will have yet another great generation on their hand. I'm certain the Switch 2 will be a fantastic console in a couple of years when I do decide to jump in.

I don't buy consoles unless there's at least 5 exclusive games that I want to play. And, frankly, Nintendo games do not interest me anymore. When my daughter, who is currently 2, is old enough to play video games, I'll get back into the Nintendo universe for her sake, but not until then.
