9.0 Presentation
The original design is taken to a new level here and accommodates a wider range of playing styles. Personality is still brilliant.
9.0 Graphics
Things look damn good from a distance with loads of great effects. Zooming in reveals a wealth of detail.
8.5 Sound
The ambient sounds and music provide a nice backdrop for the whole experience. The voice acting is also good, particularly for the advisors.
8.5 Gameplay
I like the distinction and interaction between city building and warfare. The creature is an endlessly interesting tool.
8.5 Lasting Appeal
Eight islands might not sound like a lot but they offer loads of challenges. The option to play from a different alignment adds to the appeal.
8.8 OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

I think the lowball scores now are a result of the high-balled scores for the first game. That IGN review had basically one complaint in it about side-missions and it cost the game 1.2 points.

The first one got really good scores and everyone initally liked it then realized how shitty the game one. I expect this of the 2nd one also.

Did you actually read the review?

Dont know why im asking. I know you didnt because the reviewer said he didnt like the first one.

You mean the sequel can't be good? They did add battles and more construction options to the game.

I can't trust any reviews for this game. How can I trust it won't be the same situation as last time?
You can't, but then, the same could be said for every game ever reviewed. Its not like the Black & White series has hit on some secret formula to get high review scores without actually being a good game.

B&W was a great game, drug down by one poor level and a shit tutorial, but if you played the game how Molyneux meant for it to be played it was awesome.

Me personally, I'm worried that B&W2 is going to be dummed down so much from the first that I won't be able to enjoy it, but then I don't have a computer that can handle it so not much worries of that for a while.

Yeah, but I usually check Gamerankings.com. Pretty much all of the time, games that get good aggregate scores are indeed very good games. B&W had me hooked for about a week straight, and then I saw it for what it was. One, a buggy mess. Second, the game was short - way short. The online was abysmal IMO as well. Once the initial WOW ran out, the game really wasn't all that it was hyped to be.

On Gamerankings.com, B&W got a 90.2%.

Something is just not right.

Made two great levels and the rest was crap.. hopefully reviewers played it more than the last time..

Yeah, that's probably it. I wish reviewers would have to play the game straight through for all games. I understand some games take a very long time, but the review may fail to be accurate as a result if they don't.

The we'd wouldn't see reviews for games until well after they launched..

That's why they only made 8 islands for this one. Each of them is very polished apparently, with a great deal of gameplay variety.
