IGN gives Switch 2 a 7.0

Playing that game online for NSO will be a blast for the people who have a switch 2 because of how competitive that game is when you master it or start to get better at it. It's a timeless classic for a sports game.

See I told you, Nintendo is God for the great things they do for gamers on Switch 2.

"well I'm doing it because the last one they put out wasn't that good"

Whoops nevermind I was supposed to gaslight you. Why so much nostalgia bias you deranged hater!

I've called out playstation and xbox as well but lets just ignore that and go to you attacking my opinion for not aligning with yours which is typical of you on here.

If you feel this is somehow attacking you I am not sure what to say.

Ya i played the mario sports games on gamecube and they were awesome. Mario golf, mario strikers, mario baseball, and mario tennis. They were perfect and provided a great challenge without bad gimmicks or being too easy. They took skill and they felt like complete packages at launch and i recommended anyone to play them to this day if they have the opportunity too. I'd also recommend mario strikers charged on wii, and mario baseball on wii. Fantastic games as well.
Hopefully they will come out on the GameCube online. I did like Mario tennis on the N64.

I was actually sad Giga got banned, I found his style in the name of dumb fun but never malignant.

As a big Nintendo fan Mozza makes me not want to be associated with Nintendo fans at all. I don't even think I can even have a conversation with him about Nintendo games.

"Mario Sports games used to be better. Here's a list of objective changes before you even play any to see for yourself"

"Yeah well that's just your subjective opinion man, nostalgia is a helluva drug" this is dismissive gaslighting to real N fans who often times buy an expensive game hoping it is as good, want it to be as good, and it just isn't. I'm looking at you Strikers. Reminds me of the "REAL SW fans love and watch ALL SW" shit. I think I'm gonna throw up. My real take is that he probably played close to no N sports games from any era in his time and didn't do a moments research before his comment either.

More than half the time he has no clue what he is talking about and autogenerates a Nintendo stan reply full of plot holes. What I think he doesn't grasp is that Switch 2 being a good sell doesn't make everything Nintendo ever touched perfect beyond criticism. I agree with less spamming it would make threads he's in more approachable. Giga on the other hand, should be here.
He will be back at the end of the month.

I'm sure the Switch 2 will improve, but it's got old launch games at full AAA price that have better versions available on other platforms for cheaper, keycards, PS4-level power at PS5/XSX prices and technically one exclusive so I'm not really surprised by their score.

I truly think the lack of exclusives at launch is the primary factor that left a bad taste in most gamers mouths. It's almost like Switch 2 currently has no identity for now. Everyone wants exclusives to perish, so here you go. Enjoy.

Bahahaha.

1: IGN, lol
2: Too soon
3: Decent score

Nothing burger. The Nintendomination continues. This is said in good humor mind you. It's not that serious.

The sales numbers tell a different story, so either millions of people are going to suddenly have buyer's remorse, or we're getting the most successful console since Switch 1.

We place a huge importance on the actual launch lineup. That feeling life has changed when we walk away with the system. In Nintendo's mind the launch doesn't really end for 6 months and anything now till then are "launch games" they want to spread through the window. And right now, while we bicker about Mario Kart and grapple with stuff like VRR, Switch 2 is at its very weakest point it'll ever be, the library is only getting bigger. Coming from Switch 1 with the eshop, they can simply get away with this, even if you are right. It's less than a month now before DK.

N is in a position to totally rock and knock us dead, or they can kinda coast. I'm bracing myself to spend, because I think they are holding many cards close to the chest until we've had a chance to buy the one they want to play from their hand. In the grand scheme giving Kart a little "space" means nothing.

I think a hardware review is fair but only if it takes care to focus on hardware only. An "overall package/value" with games review is just bad. Because it will be outdated almost overnight. Didn't IGN also review PS5 Pro? It makes sense, games outlet covers new relevant stuff, but make it a hardware review. In that case I'd call it fair to dock points for being so expensive while still lacking a disc drive and not being really necessary (over a base PS5 to play any exclusive title). In terms of Switch 2 I'd mention the battery life and imperfect BC for starters. Again this is hardware, not games. If we're including game lineup I prefer not to engage at all and come back in years to "review". That said you could still use games to judge the hardware capabilities.

Sales numbers are never indicative of quality. In this situation I would say that they are indicative of how long Nintendo fans, and gamers in general, have been waiting for an updated console from Nintendo.

I'd prob give it similar there nothing really from Nintendo out for it yet , if you own a PlayStation or pc then you've played cyber punk , street fighter etc, there's only Mario kart new, and I'm bored of Mario kart now, plus don't call playing switch 1 games at a slightly better frame rate a killer buy, the menus everything the same , could have given themes back or something different, it kinda feels like a switch pro, I've no doubt the switch 2 I got will give me loads of games in future but at min one of worst Nintendo launches for games for me

NVC - Nintendo Voice Chat is their most popular platform specific podcast.
They def care about Nintendo, it drives traffic, traffic brings money, they like money.

Whats weird is that Unlocked(their Xbox podcast) has become more popular than Beyond(Playstation podcast) in the current generation.
Playstation not announcing enough stuff??
It doesn't really surprise me at all. There is no reason to listen to Podcast Beyond. Beyond has been dead for years and the hosts are absolutely terrible and honestly have been since Colin and Greg left over 10 years ago.

I feel like if you want to listen to a PS based podcast just listen to SS.

NVC is great, best personalities of their podcasts and fun energy. Surprised about the success of Unlocked, though I guess there is a lot of speculation and attention directed toward Microsoft lately, along with very little happening on Playstation.

Couldn't have said it better myself, it's a good console with an extremely underwhelming launch in terms of new content.
Yeah, it's not a bad console by any means it just needs more new and/or exclusive content.

If I was IGN I would give them a low score so Nintendo would know better why not to withhold review hardware to be sent out.
They lost precious traffic so low score it is. If they had sent earlier Nintendo never gets below 9. That will teach them.

Seems like a fair score?
I don't really see the issue.

This is like reviewing a DVD player.

Only has the Matrix at launch, and a few VHS classics. 7/10

Pretty much. And some people here think that's outrageous and the the DVD player should get a 10/10 because reasons.

To be fair, the Wii sold really well and that system really sucked lol. There's a dozen games on it and the rest are either bad ports or they're shovel ware central. I actually think the Wii U had better first party games.

Brian Altano is great, but he is a lot better on NVC.

I'm going to sell my Switch 2, I'm just not having fun with it.
Mario Kart World is a massive disappointment and I've no interest in playing older games with upgrades.
My PS5 Pro provides all of the gaming needs I want and Nintendo just are not cutting it for me anymore.

Everyone has different tastes, and that's okay. I barely played my launch PS5 and I upgraded to the Pro and it just sits to collect dust. Most of the games the last three generations don't interest me. I want less time involved and less cinematic games. It's really been Nintendo, indies, and retro games that have held my attention. I just don't have the time to invest in most modern games.

Your right I got breath of the wild for it but I hardly played it. It wasn't until Smash came out I really started using it.
im right here with you

my Switch and switch oled were both smash consoles....hell my switch 2 right now is a smash console again lol

The score is too low. IF PS5 and XSX got 8 for being the same big box with the same controller more or less than Switch 2 deserves minimum of 8.

Me thinks they blame Nintendo for $450 USD instead of blaming the real cause - inflation (and maybe tariffs.)

Needed:

1. Better display (OLED)
2. Better screen (not plastic)
3. Better battery life (still bad)
4. Bigger storage (included 256GB is a joke)
5. Better/more NEW launch games (if you don't like racing....you're SOL)
6. Eshop is still full of soft porn and AI slop

dismissed, next

It's good enough. What price would you cry about if it was a lot better? 500? 550?
A 10 out 10 is given to things that are perfect, a 7 out of 10 is given to things that are "good enough".

Yet a lot of people here are foaming from the mouth because of it.

To be clear, I think IGN is dogshit and I don't care about their opinion. I am annoyed by gamers thinking the Switch tries to have 4,5ghz and a 3600rop gpu. It's not, it doesnt try to be, and people can just not deal with it at all.

They gave the steam Deck something like that too despite it turning out to be the best console ever created. Although Valve actually made improvements, I wonder if Nintendo will. I mean how in the hell do they not even have themes yet? I don't get it.

That's true with PS5 as well…..there is literally cheap flash games only for easy trophy.
True, but Nintendo needs to clean that up. It was one of my issues with the Switch 2 launch. (and it was bad on the Switch 1)

Nintendo just wants $$$$ they don't care about quality and image (outside of their 1st party games)

I would say say both Sony and Nintendo needs to clean up or at very least put them on separate category.
