Bullshit. You should know by now that the way you write code for the CPU cores greatly affects the speed of the game. If you don't perfectly optimize the code for the 3 cores it can slow a game down to a crawl. I don't think it's a case that PDZ is so graphically intensive that the Xbox 360 can't handle it. I think it's a matter of getting the code right. If they were complaining about the framerate and saying it was sluggish in 32-player multiplayer then I might believe that the engine was taxing the system, but they're saying the framerate is 25fps in single player.quetz67 said:yep, it is easy, just reduce the quality of the graphics

Rare, however, is always good for a laugh.

"Perfect Dark Zero looks good and is certainly much improved over the sporadic leaks we've seen and those early, rather bleak, screenshots. But even the build we played didn't convince us that Perfect Dark is entirely ready. It looks like Rare will work until the last possible day to put all the finishing touches on it, and in the meantime, we can say it was fun while it lasted. I'm not ready to say it's the killer-app we were hoping it would be. Hopefully, we'll be able to play a near-final or final build in the next month, at which time I hope to have better, cheerier news."
Dr_Cogent said:Yeah, that is kinda lame. Kameo does look better than PD0 from what I have seen though.
Unison said:No arguments there... I pre-ordered Kameo (along w/ CoD2, PGR3 & Oblivion)... I have no interest in buying PD0 at this point.

I must say that this is a bit of deja vu though. The original Perfect Dark was notorious for it's poor framerate. In that case though I think the game was simply throwing more at the N64 than it could handle.
Dr_Cogent said:You have to consider the context as well though. Rare created this image they have, no one else gave it to them but themselves. Even Nintendo said they couldn't get shit done in a timely fashion. It's all just coming back to bite them in the ass is all.
First of all I don't think they need to downgrade PDZ's graphics to get it running smoothly at 30fps. Second of all I don't know that this game is weeks away from release. Nobody has ever guaranteed that it was going to be a launch game.quetz67 said:It is almost boring how some guys fall for stupid jokes.
But seriously, downgrading graphics is a common way to improve framerates. Sure there are other way to get a better framerate, especially when the game obviously doesnt use much of the machines power. But have you ever thought about the fact that messing with mult-core code weeks before release may introduce some really, really nasty bugs?
But how does the delay of PDZ change that fact? ;-)---- said:I'm sure once this is confirmed the trolls will act like the sky is falling and say there are no good games at the Xbox 360 launch. :lol
Yeah. But a lot of people getting a X360 are getting it just for PD0.Amir0x said:NBA2k6 looks fantastic, Gears of War looks fantastic, Project Gotham Racing 3 look fantastic. There's plenty of 360 games that look truly next-gen and look to offer some quality gameplay. So no one should feel the need to counteract every negative thing said about a game that legitimately has problems.

Reading the press release I didnt find any games confirmed for launchSpeevy said:Looking at the total number of high quality games that are bought for an average system launch, the Xbox 360 at least matches the current generation consoles and perhaps surpasses them.
Do you guys even remember what launched with the Xbox, Gamecube, and PS2?
Xbox was Halo, Amped, and PGR.
Gamecube was friggin' Super Monkey Ball, Luigi's Mansion, and Rogue Leader.
PS2 was what, SSX, Ridge Racer, and Madden?
Tell me that you don't think the 360 loses to any of these launches... I mean, unless of course you consider Halo to be the "If I own this I don't need another game." title, which is dumb IMO.
op_ivy said:i dunno how pd0 as a game will turn out, but it is far more impressive graphically then CoD2 to me.
i had a brief chance to play perfect dark the other week, and to me it seemed great. no noticeable framerate issues at all, and yes it looks gorgeous including the walls! up until seeing it, i had no interest in it, so it came as a pleasent surprise when i actually saw how good it was (and it was running from a dev kit)
i think everyone slating it on here will be eating at least some of their words when they get a chance to play it
sp0rsk said:So we have a "legitimate" (i use that word liberally here) news source saying it has framerate problems and then some guy who says it doesnt.
