What? The whole game is cheap and lazy. It looks like f2p nintendoland game while it should look like Sunset Overdrive.

I still don't understand why the console reserves HALF (1GB of 2GB) its RAM for OS while playing games.
After reading more the article and some replies here, here my though : people like you make me glad there's no voice chat.

Even Pokemon XY have voice chat
Heck .. Pokemon black / white also have voice chat
Resident evil revelations on 3ds have voice chat
Until they add in a pre-set message for "go away, I've got this area covered," I will continue to see the game as flawed. That was seriously my biggest problem with the demo.
Voice chat would be an easy solution, but so would pre-set messages relaying tactical information to your team mates.
It'd be more like if Zelda came out in 2016 and you had to pause to swap gear and items
It doesn't compare unfavorably and I don't know where you're getting at by claiming that anything in this game beyond its UI font has a free to play look or feel to it. Its polished and colorful with a distinct and attractive art style, its no slouch far as I can tell.Compare Nintendoland to Mario, Zelda, etc.
That was my biggest frustration as well. Customizable pre-set messages would be pretty good.
Online matches that last 3 minutes, with a matchmaking system that combines people from all over the world and shuffles them each round, does not need voice chat.
My only hope is that they add communication options between friends once they release that feature in August (?). Since I assume they were talking about launch game content when saying there wouldn't be voice chat.
What was the last modern Zelda game that had players entering their pause menu to switch items exclusively??_?
That's pretty standard?
Honestly, would an OS update with party chat even be possible on WiiU? That's be a freakin' godsend.

Compare Nintendoland to Mario, Zelda, etc. I'm sorry that their new IP is cheap but it is.
Not saying it can't be fun or isn't a good concept

There's no netcode to worry about and they take great pains to make sure you're only trading with a friend. There's voice chat in WiFi trading in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, in 2006...
Eh, stuff like 3DWorld and Mario Kart 8 almost definitely has more kids than adults playing it. I'd just go stricter on parental controls actual adults can easily disable rather than making the decision for everyone. That nintendo kool-aid sure is strong. Baffling how people are defending not having voice chat in a multiplayer focused console game. Also what kids are nintendo protecting? Kids aren't playing Wii U it's people 25 and over mostly.
Maybe it looks nintendoland cheap to me on stream. I didn't get a chance to fire up my wii u to play."Cheap" does not come to mind when seeing Splatoon. You must have very high standards, mate, because Splatoon looks as good if not better than Mario 3D World, which was sublime.
I'm pretty sure the messages can be customized, it's just that you can't do that in the demo. I mean. there's literally four slots on the d-pad for them.

If you're being legit then check out some screens. Might not change your mind on the art style itself but technically this game doesn't seem like it was just slapped together.Maybe it looks nintendoland cheap to me on stream. I didn't fire up my wii u to play.
Im ok with no voice chat because I don't want to hear 12 year old kids call me fag while I'm playing this charming game.
Nintendoland has a fantastic attention to detail with varying unique art styles cohesive to each attraction. You're intentionally being obstinate and unfair on this matter because you're forced to interpret a franchise you're unfamiliar with.Maybe it looks nintendoland cheap to me on stream. I didn't get a chance to fire up my wii u to play.
I wonder what happened to Swapnote? Hmmmm...Nintendo has its reason for playing it safeThat nintendo kool-aid sure is strong. Nintendo isn't the best at making efficient OS's?
Either is Sony or ms then
You're glad there's less player choice because you don't agree with how people are voicing their opinions? That's a bit much, don't you think?

I've never felt like I gained anything by the ability to voice chat with randoms in games.

What about chatting with friends? Because you can't do that either.
Does the Wii U not have a party chat function? Not an owner so I wouldn't know.
