IGN: ZombiU Video Preview

sing party, is that not first party? or am i thinking of a different game?

IF the game gets good scores,

the best selling- for Christmas WiiU third party games

COD:BLOPS2
Just Dance 4
ZombiU

Blops2 being #1 in my opinion
if Rayman Legends was a 2012 title, that one imo would be #1.

SiNG Party is a Nintendo game, yes.

So how does the progression work in this game? Is it chapter to chapter with linear paths? Open world? A mix between both like Dead Island?

Kinda both. You have a hub (the safe house) and you can travel to major locations in any order you like via the sewers. Within those major areas there are various objectives that open up during the game and you can also unlock "shortcuts" by finding more sewer entrances. Certain areas are blocked off and you need key items to progress (Metroid style). You go back and forth between areas, completing objectives for the 4 main characters depending on who you want to align with. If an area is overrun with zombies you can just go to another place and do a quest there until the herd may have moved out of the previous area.

Wait, NSMBU is launcH? I thought it was launch "window"

It was always a launch-day game.

You all seen the ZombiU bundle for Europe right?

Was that a special bundle with anything other than just the game? Difference to the other premium pack is just ZombieU being the pack in instead of Nintendoland, right?

Premium Pack
minus Nintendo Land
plus ZombiU
plus Black Wii U Pro Controller!

SiNG is technically a second-party title, but the industry typically refers to such publishing deals as first-party title.

Ah damn. So its the same pack with exchanged games, but includes a controller more?

Why would anyone buy the normal premium pack then. If you plan to buy ZombieU and Nintendoland both on launch anyway, its a controller for free. Weird.

If they want the best bang for their buck, then they'll naturally buy the premium SKU with Nintendoland/ZombiU + controller. Even though the premium SKU is obviously the better deal, some people may not want NintendoLand/ZombiU. The price difference between the two SKUs can be used toward the purchase of different game of the consumer's choosing or storage device instead. Heck, there's gonna be some people who don't want the premium SKU just because it's black. Other people are just stupid to want to pay more to get the Pro classic controller separately.

Because it's more expensive.

€399,99 / £329.00 as opposed to the regular €349,00 / £299.00

You pay the price of a Pro Controller on top (50 EUR)

As shown in one of the videos, that the safe house
can be attacked by zombies and you have to make sure it stays clean
should make things very interesting. I wonder if that is a random thing though.

Aaaah, gotcha. Thank you.

Sounds alot like Demon's Souls.

The most important thing for this game IF we can assume the core gameplay is good is that the challenge remains high throughout the experience. If the challenge isn't there, I see this game falling flat.

Still, I don't see this game as being worth full price. This is the sort of thing I wouldn't mind picking up for 20-30 bucks.

How is it not worth full price to you? It is packed with features and offers lots of replay value even.

Besides, they're hanging their hat on the "hard but fair" mantra gameplay wise. You'll likely never be some super soldier and are always in danger of being overrun by a random group of zombies since their appearance is randomized.

- throughout the game, interact with different groups that have their own interpretation of John Dee's "Black Prophecy"
- they also have their own approach to this doomsday scenario
- guided most of the game by a survival expert referred to as the Prepper
- the rest of your group takes refuge in his bunker
- they are sent out one at a time when the current survivor out in the field is killed
- the Prepper treats the Black Prophecy as gospe
- he believes a great fire will wipe out the plague
- Dr Knight is a scientist who argues that science shall prevail in the war against the plague
- he has sealed himself under Buckingham Palace to search for Dee's fabled panacea, a universal cure for the disease
- uncover the secret society known as the Ravens of Dee and their leader, Sandra
- RPG-style levelling and upgrade system
- use the GamePad to scan the environment for items such as weapon parts
- enter the safehouse to upgrade weapons with these parts
- this will boost attributes like damage, firing speed and accuracy
- the more the player uses a certain type of weapon, the better their character will become at handling those kinds of weapons
- these skills only apply to one character at a time
- they disappear if said character dies
- competitive asymmetric multiplayer mode playable both locally and online

Wait at that last part.. the competitive mode is now online?
Are they sure?

ZombiU also incorporates a handful of online features. We now know about the competitive asymmetric multiplayer mode, playable both locally and online, which seems to be one of the few things to have carried over from the game's previous incarnation as Killer Freaks From Outer Space.
That'd be awesome, but I'd wait for another confirmation before getting excited.

WEll in belgium the wii u premiun costs 330€ (@gamemania) and the wii u premiun costs 360€
so for me it was an easy pick.

That's the twist. At the end you learn that the entire game has been competitive asymmetric multiplayer.
