Illegal Fireworks Making LA Look Like an Insane Fantavision Level

Any reason to why they are illegal? I've seen these kind of fireworks on New Year's Eve my whole life.

The nanny state cites "safety" reasons. Meanwhile in my entire neighborhood growing up when fireworks were legal in NYC, every year was like a war zone with fireworks, and out of hundreds of kids/adults using them each year for like 17 years I was alive before they were banned in NYC, I knew of only TWO people who had serious accidents with them. Again, hundreds of users of all ages over a 17 year span, 2 serious accidents (lost finger and lost vision in one eye).

Yeah, in NYC that's seems to be bs.

How many fires were started? How many injuries? My neighborhood, where fireworks are legal, saw far more fireworks use than usual this year.

I think people are sick of the nanny state and recent political....topics, have spurred people to ignore the law.

Americans love their freedom 🤷‍♂️

Even if this is a one off and next year things return to normal? It was pretty cool seeing (even if it's my imagination) some acts of patriotism around the country.

Do you mean that what I said is BS, or that the whole "safety" rationale for making fireworks illegal is BS?
The safety rationale. I can understand it being illegal in CA, given the droughts and fires, but I don't see why it would be illegal in NYC, unless the buildings are somehow easily flamable.

XiNN and MSDNC will tell you how to think.

Right Wing defy law and illegally glorify white supremacy in terrorist attack.

Or

Peaceful protesters inovate the fight against racism with peaceful legal sparklers.

I just hope fires aren't breaking last thing this state needs.

So far tonight there are two grass fires in my area caused by fireworks fallout.

I live in a condo and right outside on the street they had been going at it since earlier this afternoon right into around 11pm. I'm fine with even if the whole area sounds and smells like a war zone since it's fun and only once a year. and as long as they're careful and don't keep going at it after 11pm or something, I'm totally cool with it.

My entire neighborhood (not Cali) was lit up with fireworks all night. It wasn’t the usual Roman candles and bottle rockets, they were lighting those big canister shells. One of the most surreal July 4ths I’ve ever experienced. Standing in my driveway half dressed, eating a slice of pie with fireworks going off all around me. The only thing missing was a Bald Eagle swooping through the fucking sky.
