Probably for the best they scrapped Kang in favor of Doom.
I'm sad it didn't happen, honestly. I completely understand the reason behind these changes and I disliked most of the previous movies, but I would have prefer that they finished the story and started from scratch their new era.
(And bringing RDJ back is a big no)
Even without his actions that ruined his career, they diminished his character in that Ant Man film where he got bested by the worst Avenger.
Sure, but no one thinks like this watching the film, compared to Thanos he seemed like a kid. While I don't think they should have done it, there's a few details from it fans miss:
-Kang dominates in the fight against Scott for most of it, this is despite him being weakened from getting swarmed by Hank's ant army as that destroyed his powered armor. Only when Hope catches him off guard when she comes blasting in does Scott get a hit on him and then the two escape
-this Kang was nowhere near his full power. Part of the reason Janet was so afraid of him escaping was because he would be far more dangerous with access to a wider scope of technology, whereas in the Quantum Realm he had only his powered armor in terms of his own personal arsenal.
-the Kang Dynasty as a whole were more powerful than this Conqueror Kang, so their threat had yet to be measured fully
I still agree they should have ended the movie differently, but the threat of the Kang Dynasty and even the Conqueror was not necessarily diminished by the events of the film.
I think there was potential to do something interesting with him. But having a version of Kang, regardless of the qualifiers that mean other versions could be more of a threat, get defeated by someone who isn't considered an 'A-list' hero diminishes how people perceive Kang since that's now a lot of people's first impression of the character. While I don't think they should have done it, there's a few details from it fans miss:

What are those couple of movies you're thinking of? I can only think of the most recent Spider-Man movie, but it was in my opinion the weakest of the three.I bet Marvel can't wait to be out of this multiverse phase bullshit, outside of a couple of movies the rest has just been a shitshow for them.

Oh right, I forgot it was a MCU movie. It was so heavy on the classic X-Men that I lumped it together with the Fox-verse. Yeah, that one was very good.Deadpool & Wolverine?
Yes, I would also have preferred to see the end of what was planned.I'm sad it didn't happen, honestly. I completely understand the reason behind these changes and I disliked most of the previous movies, but I would have prefer that they finished the story and started from scratch their new era.

Was never a Kang fan, his design was dumb.
Doom >>> Kang, though I still wish it was someone other than RDJ.
Did you watch Loki?I'm sad it didn't happen, honestly. I completely understand the reason behind these changes and I disliked most of the previous movies, but I would have prefer that they finished the story and started from scratch their new era.

They kind of hinted that all Kang variants are bent on ruling the world/universe (except the one killed by girl Loki) and then they push out a dorky variant that's a con man with a goofy speech pattern in Loki season 2. Thank god they were able to end that train wreck of a big bad. Not a fan of Downey as Doom, but the character has a much bigger upside.Even without his actions that ruined his career, they diminished his character in that Ant Man film where he got bested by the worst Avenger.
Nah, Kang has always been lame as fuck. He's Tumu Doctor Doom. Changing his story possibly helps, but might as well use a better character.Would Kang had been better received had he been a comics accurate version instead of a live action multiverse version (as opposed to the comics Multiverse version)?

And manabyte would call it the best movie ever, no flaws.
It more than likely will be. I'm betting RDJ isn't the "final" Doom. Was never a Kang fan, his design was dumb.

I think what they should have emphasized better with Kang is that he is an enemy that literally would not stop, because there are infinite variations of him. He would wear down an Avengers-level team simply due to overwhelming numbers.I think there was potential to do something interesting with him. The rumor is Viggo Mortensen has been approached. Which would be enough to pull me back in for a while, anyway.
