In Lords of the Fallen 2, every limb you can see is there for your chopping pleasure

Or is it just one of Adam's balls in my throat?

"This is a game made by adults for adults," is a line that features in a recent interview with Ryan Hill, creative strategist at CI Games, talking of Lords of the Fallen 2 in tandem with its Geoff's Night of Pretending to Like Video Games gameplay reveal trailer. The reason this line comes up is because the upcoming sequel is a violent one, one that hopes to be bloodier and gorier than its predecessor, to the point that you can, if you like, chop off any limb you can see in the game.

"When we asked our community just how far we should push the gore in the next Lords of the Fallen, the answer was loud and unanimous: 'go all in'," Hill told IGN in said interview. "This is a game made by adults for adults, and we didn't want to dilute the brutality or intensity of that experience.

"Soulslikes thrive on challenge, and that rush you get when defeating an enemy is unlike anything else. Enhancing that moment with a dynamic dismemberment system takes the satisfaction to another level - instead of enemies simply ragdolling to the floor, players can literally tear them apart."

Hill also made sure to clarify that again, yes, "every limb can be removed." You can see some of that in the gameplay trailer up above, and yeah, that sure does look like some limb slicing, though how that affects moment to moment gameplay isn't immediately apparent just yet.

Chopped for her pleasure.

but can you pick up the limbs ant attack enemies with it, Shadow of Rome style?

see, that would be interesting! if it's only a cosmetic thing I don't really care.

My theory is that they are gonna iron out the rough edges at launch on Epic and then launch a polished version later on Steam.

Yes. No switch 2 tho.
I assumed this is another Alan Wake 2 situation where Epic finances it so it's EGS for eternity. I hope not though. A late Steam release is better than none.

another UE5 game with Lumen and Nanite skipping Switch 2.

I think it's gonna be a while until we'll see Switch 2 ports of games like it.
even if a new UE5 version releases that gets Lumen to perform on par with competing engines, it will then still probably take years until games come out using that newer version.

it is currently not listed as Xbox Play Anywhere either.
I wonder if an Xbox PC version is on the table down the line.

I'm disappointed it's not going to be on Steam at release, but with how much post launch effort they put into the first as well as the huge improvements, this will be one of the few games I will purchase on Epic.

The game's director actually worked at Deck 13 previously, he must have stolen the dismemberment tech from the Surge games and run away.
Criminally underrated games.

It may or it may not be. Some comments by the developers were along the lines of "we want to bring the game to as many people as possible", which honestly sounds kind of a weird thing to say, if it really is an Epic exclusive without any kind of expiration. But maybe I'm reading too much into it.

Do the enemies when dismembered partially effect their attack patterns? If so, that grabs my interest more than just the satisfying feedback on death.

They should just go early access with the game on Epic, and launch v1.0 on Steam later.

That worked for Hades 1.
