It would've been nice if they included the features from the 2-Disc DVD set. There was some great behind the scenes stuff, including seeing them setting up and blowing up the models.

Update- 3/27/16

Major Update: According to the very trusted Digital Bits, the new Blu-Ray will indeed carry over most of the 5-Star DVD's bonus features (YAY!). The only features from that release that will not carry over are an Easter Egg feature called Sound Separator as well as the DVD ROM features (those never make the jump). Also, the initial Blu-Ray included an interactive game. That is not included either. I am now officially excited for this release!

I love this film lots!

I got the blu-ray release but it didn't have the extended cut of my DVD special edition I own, so I'm very curious of the quality of the newly restored picture, please not be DNR hell and back!

Just give me the biplane ending without the silly commentary over it.

I don't think you'll see that at all (with or without commentary). That was one of the DVD features. As of right now, the new documentary seems to be the only thing there. Then again, as I pointed out, there's something wrong with the feature list, so maybe one of the bullets was supposed to say "original DVD special features included".

You never know. I just want to see it in hi-def, lol.

I will pick this up! Especially if it has movie cash.

Though I really, really hate when they don't port over the extras from the previous DVD.

Back when CGI was still impressive. I remember seeing this in theaters. I thought it was great back then, I wonder how well it's held up.

Eh. It's fine. Not as good as how Jurassic Park held up. Still better than most CG of that era. Some effects look better than others, though.

A lot of it wasn't CGI. They blew up a LOT of fucking models for that movie.

I believe it cost 75 mil to make and something like 50 of it was effects, and most of those effects were practical.

y'all should be ashamed

Reading some trivia for the Fugitive, it kind of blew me away when they were going to do the train derailment scene in miniature (where a train and a dozen cars attached to it crashes into a bus, derails, and explodes everywhere), but realized that derailing and exploding an actual train would be less expensive than a miniatures version, so they did that. Crazy!

Which is one reason those DVD features should absolutely be ported over. They show how they did the White House scene.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
The vast majority of the CGI was for energy beams, missiles, shield hits and dogfighting way in the background.

Now look at how much CG the new movie is. Too bad they didn't go the practical route again (at least, that's what the trailer indicates).

I remember reading something by a special effects guy who was pissed with the way the huge practical White House explosion was obscured by that shitty super-imposed helicopter explosion.

Which, honestly, is Roland Emmerich in a nutshell.

Yes. I was too. No idea why they went with that choice considering the impact of the original scene in the trailer.
