Indie Games 2015 [October] Let's talk about anything Indie!

So I was playing Undetale and
I accidently killed Toriel, so I closed the game and reloaded my save though during the battle the text that showed when I tried to spare her changed to "you want to say you saw her die but it's creepy". I didn't get it initially but after winning finding the flower, he knew I killed her and reloaded the game.
. I really want to know where the plot is going.

Oooh, Human Resource Machine is out. My secret Programming Game senses alarmed me.

Soooo. Is it good?

Its good and easily one of the most adorable programming games. The challenges in each level are actually... challenging, but I cant say much about the later levels yet. The interface is very nice to use, but the overview is a bit messy for longer programs.

It's finally happening. Our indie dreams fulfilled

I've just completed all the puzzles, and I love it through and through! As you say, the interface gets really messy on larger programs, but I feel that's part of the challenge. Also, it's purely mouse controlled, so you write labels and comments with the mouse: clearly optimized/intended for a touch screen. But it kind of adds to the charm as well, as my butt ugly handwriting really comes into it's own here.

It's very challenging, but not impossible. I'm a programmer by day though, so that might be partly cheating. Getting really good at writing spaghetti code now, as there's no if/else, only Go to.

Off to optimize my code now for maximum efficiency!

After looking at all the games you guys and gal recommended, I bought Environmental Station Alpha, INK and Xeodrifter (last two on sale), and waiting for my pad to arrive and Cryptark, Oni and Grow Home, thank you so much for your recommendations. Found some amazing games. Cant have them all at once but I will buy them all.

Also, I found a game called Feist. Looks amazing but I read that is was frustrating... can anyone say a few nice words about it, also comment length and actual difficulty? Feist looks really sweet.

I'm so excited for you. I would love to approach the indie scene fresh and experience so many classics for the first time.

Braid. Fez.

What a time we've all had.

I am there now, true, getting all those classics. I recently tried the demo for Braid and... I... I... it didn't click with me as much as I thought, while later I played FEZ and... is... one of the best things I played in a long long time. The ability to rotate the levels around is impressive, the platforming around it clicked with me instantly, it has tons of charm, polish, exploration, secrets... its completely awesome. Any more classics that I missed? I played LIMBO on iOS and... most of the indie games on iOS maybe it helps.

And please, anyone can confirm or deny Feist?

It's weird when people ask me to recommend Indie games from the past couple of years - I've played so many, as have the people in this thread, that it's difficult to look back and remember.

Braid is wonderful - but I can understand that maybe it doesn't play as well now? I haven't played it since it came out on PC. But it's great to hear that you love Fez - honestly I think it's a masterpiece.

Braid isn't a tight platformer like Fez or Ink, but its time-based puzzles are still brilliant IMO. And it constantly mixes up its time control mechanic. I'd recommend sticking with Braid, if you haven't finished it

Feist is really good, awesome atmosphere and music. But it's not really a platformer. Its focus is on frantic desperate combat against enemies much more powerful than you. It's really intense, and looks gorgeous

Braid is still great. It looks amazing. The music is good. The puzzles are smart. It's still a good platformer if you're going in blind or have forgotten all the solutions.

Anyone picked up Extreme Exorcism? or The Bug Butcher? Both look awesome, any input would be appreciated on those.

Oh, and Blocks That Matter, also on the wishlist along with Tetrobot & Co (already have it on iOS, double dipping)

So I will add Feist to the wishlist, pretty high up. Love the look of it. Common controller, arrive tomorrow :D

Third recommendation for Braid. I must play it more then.

Good Robot - January 2016 (PC, Mac, Linux)

You've got tons of weapons and thousands of robots out to violate your warranty in this fast-paced roguelike shoot 'em up. Explore a winding sci-fi metropolis and the depths of corporate depravity, but never stop shooting...unless, of course, you're a Bad Robot. You're not, are you?

Home Free - Late 2016 (PC, Mac, PS4)

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/143870832/home-free-0

You are a dog lost in a randomly generated city. Looking for food. Looking for friends. Looking for home.

I want Rayman Legends (Really want it, as soon as possible, is the only PS4 game I miss from and the only regret I have, need to fix that, and it is really fun) but Enhanced Steam tells me it has Ubisoft Uplay DRM, searched for it and can only find tons of people complaining about it but not what it really is... can someone shed some light into this? It is as bad at it seems?

Update: My Pad is on route for delivery and should arrive on the next few hours! YES!!! Now: Cryptark and Feist or Rayman Legends, depending on Uplay

Also, Environmental Station Alpha got a free DLC adding more mysteries to solve :D

Wishlist:
Feist
Rayman Legends
Cryptark
Blocks that Matter
Ori and the Blind Forest
Grow Home
Broforce
Botanicula
Mushroom 11
Tetrobot & Co
BADLAND Game of the Year
Extreme Exorcism

Downwell is so good. It's everything I imagined.

It really is... is like it was made by Vlambeer, masters of addictiviness... if that word exists xD

Christmas Sale? I'm In!... did some research and... starts on december... and I NEED either Cryptark and Feist or Rayman Legends or Ori sooner than that, way sooner. The others, will wait for the sale for sure... well, maybe I pick one or two on the way till there :p

You never forget your first...

Perfect timing for me too, joined GAF and started posting in the Indie threads like a week before the Summer Sale that year

Last Xmas for me - even this years summer sale saw my credit card take a big hit.

Still have quite a lot of older games i want to pick up.

Gutted i didn't pick up the Ghost Reckon AW games tho :(

Hopefully Deathspank and its sequels will get a sale/bundle soon too....

Does anyone know if an early access game (I want Cryptark, my pad arrived and want a great game that fully uses it and this is the one) has participated on a special sale? (Autumn, Halloween, Christmas, Summer, etc...)?

Yeah, Early Access games get discounted, especially during the big Steam sales

Those big sales, pretty much everything on Steam is discounted

Perfect timing, Frost! I know you're a big shooter fan and just your luck, Galak-Z is coming to Steam next week

Remnants of Naezith - ????
HfhWR79.gif

http://naezith.com/

Remnants of Naezith is a fast-paced 2D platformer which has no speed limitations, you can accelerate as much as you want/can. The abilities the character has are double jump, wall-jump, dash and the best one, swinging! The game’s overrefined grappling hook physics don’t feel like any other “hook game” you’ve played. You will feel the acceleration

I was about to buy Cryptark... and Steam seems to be down... not the client nor Web are responding... maybe a sign? But everything I know and seen about Cryptark just screams buy me. Galak-Z looks superb, added to the wishlist. Dangerous as next week I also get my paycheck. And in totally related news, my new pad is amazing :D

About to buy Rayman Legends (never been on a sale as far as Enhanced Steam tells me) and Cryptark as soon as Steam comes back...

Steams loading fine for me, might want to reload or give it a minute

Also I'd recommend waiting till 1pm, since that's when the new Weeklong Deals and Daily Deal will rotate in

Are you looking in the right spot regarding Rayman?

Fly´n is beautiful and is loaded with different game play mechanics, I believe it has them all except wall jump. Truly having blast. Great music btw.

Okay didnt know that, will check later then... and Steam came back... now that I have to go to work... And my Rayman Legends Steam page shows 20$ instead of 30$? Pretty sure is the same game... maybe because I also bought it for PS4? Not sure. Strange thing... going to buy it before it goes up 10$... after 1pm = Thanks!!

Highly highly recommend getting some Broforce if you have access to local multiplayer buddies. I recently played through about half the campaign with two other mates and it was one of the most memorable and enjoyable local multiplayer experiences I've had in a while. I was cackling like a witch pretty much the entire way though.

Broforce is also on my wishlist as well. Played the demo and I liked it, but blew the path up many times and couldn't reach the other side of the gap I created and was a bit frustrating... didnt try with my pad though....

And I made an Ubisoft Uplay account and the web page is not responding at all, hard to log-in etc... my confidence on Uplay is decreasing quickly right now... Damn, I want Rayman Legends...
