Welcome to UNDERTALE. In this RPG, you control a human who falls underground into the world of monsters. Now you must find your way out... or stay trapped forever.

Almost 24 hours without a new post...

Anyway, finished SOMA. Took me about 9 hours. Such a great experience, will certainly end up on both my main and indie GOTY list. I love sci-fi and the game touched upon so many interesting concepts..and also was probably the most terrifying game I've ever played

It's nice to play a game that you want to think about and mull over when you finish it
---
Picked up Flame In The Flood. Didn't play much, but from what I did play...idk, the arcadey river portions and the scavenging/survival island portions seems at odds with each other. I kind of wish the river sections weren't so fast-paced
---

Cobalt
Cobalt is a 2D shooter with an emphasis on acrobatic gunplay and deft evasion. The most useful manevuer in your moveset is the combat roll, which not only lets you chain together moves like punch-jumps and slides but also deflect bullets. Combined with the vast array of weapons and gear, combat in Cobalt proves to be hectic, fast-paced, and have a high skill ceiling, with a surprising amount of hidden depth to its seemingly limited moveset.
Inferno 2
A hybrid of dual stick shooter and Gauntlet, Inferno 2 is easily Radiangames' best shooter yet. It's everything that made the original so enjoyable...but bigger and better.
The maze-like levels filled with deadly choke points, now larger and more diverse. The varied enemies from corridor-filling hordes to turrets and other threats, now with more variants and devastating new types. The light RPG elements, now with even more aspects to upgrade
You have a plethora of weapons at your disposal, from creeper mines and penetrating ghost missiles to spread shots and ricocheting bullets, as well as special abilities, which range from slow motion to a space-clearing repulsor blast
Duet
There's something quite satisfying about this game. How fluidly your spheres move, the graceful dance-like evasion between and around obstacles, the little narrative blurbs that hint at what's ahead, the contrast between your colorful failures and the white obstacles...it all just makes Duet feel unique compared to similar games like Super Hexagon
Duet is not as twitchy as a game like Super Hexagon and feels more like a fast paced puzzle game as you learn the correct pattern to avoid each obstacle.

We Know The Devil - $6.66 (Browser)
bXsDZpN.jpg

https://datenighto.com/game/we-know-the-devil

Three teenagers spend their final night at summer camp awaiting the actual, literal devil in a rickety cabin by the lake. Over the course of the evening, two will become closer, while the other gets pushed away. When the sirens wail, who will be the one to succumb to his call? A short magical realism horror visual novel inspired by John Carpenter and Giallo, with an ending for each favored pairing and a hidden fourth ending. What awaits them might be the most horrifying thing they've ever had to face, and something they may not be ready to take on either.

I loved this a lot, really adored the characters as they unfolded themselves in the extremely short 40 minute runtime a single playthrough affords. Won't be for everyone, but I think there's quite a few who would like it for the subject matter it covers. Also worth checking out the amazing soundtrack!

Refunded my Hitman preorder because it got pushed to March, so I picked up Snakebird and ElseHeartBreak

The former is so charming and cute, the latter is really interesting and has an awesome art style

And together, they're a great palate cleanser after SOMA

If you thought Prison Architect couldn't get any more awesome...it's getting more awesome

Escape Mode revealed
Bored of building prisons? Switch to escape mode, load a random facility and take direct control of a prisoner and crack on with the important business of breaking out. Earn experience points by shanking a guard, form up a posse of rough-necks and head to the armoury to shoot your way out or nick some tools from the workshop and start digging a tunnel hidden behind a picture of Raquel Welch.
"In the background we've been fleshing it out gradually until it's a whole game mode in its own right now. Anything the prisoners can do in the game, you can do, so you can steal knives from the kitchen, you can make digging implements in the workshop, you can dig escape tunnels, you can recruit other prisonsers to join up and form a little posse.

"All the stats that make some prisoners much tougher than others: they form your kind of RPG progression system in the game. So you start out as a total green newbie and as you cause trouble and your reputation grows within the prison, you get access to more and more advanced stuff. We have legendary prisoners in the game that are a total nightmare, [and] you can make your guy into a legendary prisoner.

Voting September!

RULES THIS MONTH IN SHORT: Up to 10 games, at least 4.

Why?
Because we want to offer people who first step into the thread an easy go-to list for great games. Plus it gives more attention to the titles that really deserve it.

How?
Everyone votes on his top 10 games out of the ones that already have been released AND are mentioned in the OP (So everything in Post 2). I'll tally the results and put the best 5 in the next thread. A minimum voting count of 4 is required. Feel free to vote for games that you deem "important" or the ones that you enjoyed the most. Since this is a rather communicative thread, feel free to include a short description why these games ended up on your list. Every list entry gets 1 point for the overall ranking.

When?
This thread is still open until the end of the month, so you can drop your list in here whenever you want. You can also change your list up to the last day. I wont start the count before the last day of the month, so everyone has still time to revise their lists and play some games. Speaking of which, if you dont even KNOW 7 games to vote for, there are plenty free games in the OP to check out. Most of which are rather short too. Use the remaining week to catch up with 1 or 2 titles you didnt get around to yet!

Which?
Since the list got rather long, here is the complete list of games to vote for for this month.

Jotun OT is ready to go. Been playing the final release version, enjoying it a lot more than Titan Souls. Each level is a joy to play just to enjoy new animations, and it's cool how each level has its own unique gameplay mechanic. The combat itself is relatively simple, but the challenge comes from learning each bosses' moves

I've had JOTUN since alpha and I haven't played it at all. I am a miserable pile of secrets.

On a side note, undertale is getting talked about quite a bit. Color me interested.

Anyone keeping up with the Ghost of a Tale development blog? The game looks amazing, especially considering the small team behind it. The dev is consistent with updates and they all are really meaty, too. Nothing like Rain World (duh), but it's still pretty good. The last one about the redone AI and Pathfinding was really impressive.

Look at it:

So pretty

Yeah I check it out somewhat regularly - been looking forward to it and I'm really happy it's coming along nicely.

Battletech Kickstarter launches tomorrow. From the creators of the recent Shadowrun games, Returns, Dragonfall and Hong Kong.

Darkest Dungeon will have an update tomorrow, with a new area and enemies.

Concept art looks awesome
I don't usually back campaigns that only have artwork, but I think I'll have to make an exception for Battletech. Harebrained proved themselves with their other games, and tactical mech combat + sci-fi feudal house rivalries is so my kind of thing

Jotun - $14.99 (PC, Mac, Linux)

Explore vast regions of Norse Purgatory to find runes to unleash the jotun, giant Norse elementals. Fight them using only your massive two-handed axe, the blessings of the Gods and your skills!

Hm. I think I'll go with Jotun. Have to support animation like that.

Ghost of a Tale looks so good that I'm convinced it's going to be 20 minutes long and/or janky as hell. Here's hoping I'm mistaken! I already paid for it, after all.

I see. Can't wait for this.

Thanks!

Yeah, i can see the janky part, but i don't really think it's going to be short.

The development blogs at least put me on ease on the movement aspect of the game. From the animations and gifs it looks like it will be quite a treat to move that rat around lol

I'd say more FF Tactics and Frozen Synapse. Looks like both your and enemy turns happen at the same time

Highly relevant to my interests, though it seems like its still far off.

I have missed. SO MUCH.

My Chromebook died as soon as I got to London so I haven't been able to post anything at all - so I've snuck on GAF while working to say you guys are doing a great job. I have so much to catch up!

Armikrog releases later today on STEAM. For PC/Mac/Linux, I think. Price point is €25, but there is still a chance to get it for €22.50, (3,5 hours left on the offer.)

Armikrog is a unique stop motion clay animated point and click adventure game from the creators of Earthworm Jim and the Neverhood. Follow the adventures of space explorer Tommynaut and his blind alien talking dog Beak-Beak, as they unravel the mysteries of the fortress that holds them captive through exploration and puzzle solving!
