| 3.5 Quick Note about Formatting |
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you want to suggest a game that has recently released or that looks interesting, but hasnt released yet, please follow the following formatting structure so the post is picked up by Toma-Bot:
Released games:
TITLE - PRICE (PLAT)
LINK
DESCRIPTION TEXT
Not yet released games:
TITLE - PLAT
LINK
DESCRIPTION TEXT
Copy the appropriate content and add the proper information for the black writing. Please only include 1 link and 1 image. I tried making it a bit failsafe, so it should be able to deal with 2 links or images as well, but 1 is safer.
If the game is free, then put "Free" as the price, otherwise please use $ or € for the price. You can also include more than one game per post (like the Screenshot saturday posts), but please stick to the above format for every entry.
If someone posts a non-proper formatted post, I'd appreciate if you could repost the game with the same info in the proper format.
I noticed there are a few noteworthy, and relatively unknown, projects that deserve a shoutout here because I feel that they share a common interest with the people in this thread. I talked to the guy from Pixabyte and MetaVendetta and both are very enthusiastic about the things they love and figured you might appreciate the shoutout as well. If you enjoy anything here or want to give feedback, let these guys know via their websites or also here in this thread. If you appreciate something, let people know. A heads up can sometimes very valuable.
Darkest Dungeon is using Oxenfree's blurb and picture, and the image for Cathedral in the upcoming indies section is broken. Everything else appears in order after a quick glance!
Thanks, fixed both.
Hm, The Case of the Mansion looks pretty interesting. Recent devlog video posted here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PmHV-kO_AE
They also just put up a trailer but it has such poor resolution on FB that it's not worth linking.
I'm really curious as to how it plays with multiple players, as I'm assuming it does. Has a strong board game feel to it which is always attractive to me.
Voting results say "Best of January" instead of "Best of February". Great OP otherwise, excellent compilation of info!
Just discovered HyperRogue today. Very interesting roguelike. The paid version has more content and features than the free version, and will get new updates first. On the site, there's a list of worlds/content and the different areas + their unique mechanics sounds insane. Just the whole world and its design sounds crazy.
Its gameplay is more chess than your usual roguelike, since you have a singe hit point but your enemies also usually die in a single hit, so survival is all about smart positioning and not putting yourself in "check".
SuperHOT
It's the most innovative shooter I've played in years. 'nuff said.
Devil Daggers
Geometry Wars > Super Hexagon >...Devil Daggers?
Devil Daggers offers a cacophonous onslaught of eldritch horrors and the strafing, rocket-jumping action of classic Doom and Quake. Without needing to worry about ammo or health or juggling an inventory, the focus shifts to evasion and environmental awareness. It's a game of constant movement, of maximizing every split-second of safety to calculate a route through incoming foes. Crafted in a rough old-school aesthetic and fluid animations, Devil Daggers' bestiary is one of bone and flesh and appendages. Demonic things that fill the air with an oppressive symphony of roars, rattles, distorted shrieks and skittering legs, wet flesh and echoing moans. Each creature sounds unique, alerting you to when and where a new threat enters the arena even if your attention is elsewhere. The incredible sound design is that key aspect that completely elevates Devil Daggers' atmosphere, truly making it feel like you're facing something otherworldly.
Unravel
Unravel doesn't reinvent the platforming wheel and to be honest, everything it does has been done elsewhere. In fact, one could call it a more colorful and happy Limbo, with its child-like animations, physics-based platforming puzzles, and the myriad means of destruction awaiting poor Yarny. But where it does succeed in being one gorgeous, polished, and just fun puzzle platformer, with varied distinct environments, solid controls, interesting uses for its yarn mechanic, and just enough level of challenge to be engaging but not frustrating. Swinging like a yarn Spiderman never got old throughout the game's campaign
---
1) SuperHOT
2) Devil Daggers
3) Unravel
Beyond playing SuperHOT, Deadbolt and ADR1FT are the two that immediately spring to mind :)
Definitely excited for Deadbolt after playing the alpha last year. And intrigued by ADR1FT after seeing the latest trailer.
Do we know if it's purely a narrative exploration game like Gone Home, or if there will be survival elements and/or space hazards throughout the story?
I'm kind of hoping for Gravity: The Game. This sounds promising
The player fights to stay alive by exploring the wreckage for precious resources, and overcomes the challenges of an unforgiving environment to repair the damaged EEV and safely return home.
We're discussing whether or not to actually put in Cthulhu Dating Sim DLC for actually dating Cthulhu and stuff.
Because apparently people want that.
Looking good as always Toma. It's kind of a pleasant feeling seeing Advance up there :D
I really like the look of Oxenfree, so I'll have to check it out whenever I can scrounge together some monies XD
To do that I would have to be good when my style is more akin to miss, miss, miss, throw gun, stun target as I run at them and shoot them with their own weapon at point blank range, turn to next target and repeat from start.
Have you tried the challenges? They really hone your skills and force you to be more aggressive and try new things
Compare my first Elevator replay
to my replay after several hours of various Challenge modes
I tried doing Superhot trickshots and then got motion sickness.
:(
I want to play it.
No Man's Sky has crazy low min requirements and comes out the same months as my b-day?
*Runs around room in joy*
Up for pre-order on Steam
http://store.steampowered.com/app/275850/
The game looks great. It is reminiscent of a software that I played 15 years ago: it was a pseudo-game Eignana, which was supposed to be "Google Earth offline" and ended up a pretty empty and inaccurate copy of the Earth, we will get a procedural Universe which can be played offline and is common to every player.
I don't think the two are related, just the marketing idea is the same.
Shardlight is being released on the 8th. It's published by Wadjet Eye, one of the very few companies still putting out worthwhile adventure games.
No idea when it's due for release or anything, but a game to keep an eye on is Wildfire, which is being made by GAFfer "ThePhotoshop".
I did a LivePlay of it today, which can be found here: https://youtu.be/721oXgK6_lk
It's a lot of fun! It's a sidescrolling stealth game where you primarily use fire in various ways to get through each level. I really enjoyed it a lot and I'm eager to see where it goes next.
I've been playing the alphas here and there. It's made some big improvements and I love the focus on interactive music.
I don't know how I missed the GAF thing!
I don't know how I missed the GAF thing!
He is or was a journo too I think? I backed on KS but waiting for the full release.
It's coming to Android and PC too
YES!
No SuperHOT replays to show off, IndieGAF?
I still don't own it...
Yes. Good.
Ahh, this is top aces. After some witchcraft patching, Superhot totally works without the previous hitches it was suffering from earlier. I am very pleased.
I saw scrap mechanic in the thread from last month I think and I just checked out some videos, it looks really fun like a modernized version of Garrys mod and its only 10 bucks, I think I might try it out. Does anyone recommend it from neogaf?
In an impulsive fling, I picked up the latest Momodora game on steam and I can say it is pretty cool so far. Combat has a nice heft to it and being able to flick between rolls and attacks and ranged attacks and jumps feels good. Their is also a nice level of metroidvania style exploration (although probably more liner then most traditional metroidvania games) and a health system which feels very strongly inspired by the Souls games estus flasks concept. Talking about Souls, a lot of the plot delivery and characters also would feel right at home in the Bloodborne universe.
So yeah, I've only played less then an hour so far so it might go to complete poop. But if you like punchy combat and the intense misery of the Souls world then I will recommend it, especially if you like it viewed through a 2d lens with the odd anime trope running about. Also, you hit people with a maple leaf, you are like what Bulbasaur would be if he was a human girl. It's pretty fab.
Pretty interested in this. Are there different weapons and subweapons? Love the look and animations
