Indivisible: Valkyrie Profile/Metroid, Indiegogo, PC/Mac/Linux/PS4/XB1 -- funded!

An odd question, but are any sort of ultimate attacks planned?

From prototype I remember characters having 3 levels of special you could do, but they were a notch below what I mean in presentation sense. I mean, for all nice animations, main chracter's specials for both available weapons were incredibly simple in concept and execution, lacking umph for main character's signature ultimate attack.

If no such feature is planned, is it more of a monetary and time issue (animating cinematic eye candy special attacks is not easy I understand) or is it a design desicion, something like "such over the top self indulgent attack break our combat's pacing"? Cuz for how much I love em, super attacks in Valkyria Profile did ultimately put the rest of the game on pause to play out.

I hadn't really thought a dedicated healer was going to be necessary, based on the prototype. Maybe Ginseng/Honey has healing as one of their basic actions? Or they can spend more granular amounts of Iddhi? Or there's a general system change that makes healing more important as a deliberate choice.

Hype to see the reveal train get going tho :D

Razmi's heal was a total kludge, because we needed one.

Currently, the thought is that she'll get some kind of HP draining ability instead. So instead of a direct heal, she'll have a healing super that fits her hex/witchcraft theme.

And, yes, the current thought that is Ginseng and Honey's neutral attack will be a party heal.

Though I'm now reminded not every incarnation will be playable. If Kogi and Tatanka aren't party members, I'll be crushed. D: (Particularly Kogi.)
I think all the Incarnations they announced over the campaign are playable?

Curious to see how that plays out in practice. Sounds like one of those things that'd need a lot of fine-tuning to get the balance right. Though you do naturally remove them from joining combos doing that so I guess that's one major trade-off.

We ran out of time for unique supers when making the prototype, but in the final game every character will have unique supers.

We actually revealed a few of these last year!

We may have gone overboard with these three characters, and may need to pull back a bit on future characters.

i.e. Instead of having three unique supers like we did for these three, they'll have one that can be cleanly subdivided into three levels of the same super, or two, etc. Will likely vary by character and animation complexity.

All the Incarnations we revealed for the campaign were intended to be playable, yes.

Not all of them made the cut, but I'm not going to confirm or deny anything now. In part because some of them are wishlist beyond the 25 I mentioned in the update.

Also, I like Qadira's redesign and actually prefer it to the original.

*crosses fingers and toes for playable Sangmu*

Ah, I'm gonna be on pins and needles as the confirmations come in. Feels like when a new fighting game is announced and you're waiting for your favs to be confirmed.

Yeah, the original Qadira was a bit more my speed (the scarf covering her face especially) but looking back there was a pretty nuts amount of detail going on that would've been hell to animate. And the added detail about emphasizing her defensive nature through making her profile rounder is extremely cool.

All I'll say about the roster is that we did take fan feedback into account.

So if your favorite character is popular, then they're probably safe.

With 25 characters total, including the new one revealed today, is that four cuts from the original roster or am I miscounting? On the one hand, four isn't a terrible number to lose, on the other, I really struggle to figure out which four I would drop if I had to choose.

I noticed that we're seeing the back of Qadira's head for the first time in these docs. It makes me imagine she'd have a dramatic reveal for some event in the game!

I thought this game didn't have enough food puns and references. It wouldn't be "classic anime" without them. I'm glad the developers agreed :P

She looks neat :)

Yeah I'd say that's a pretty good analogy :P

Fan feedback? I don't recall there being a character vote!
Kappa :P

How would you even measure that though? Amount of fanart for a character on tumblr/deviantart?

I hope
my favorite characters
made it in though as playable. I would be disappointed if that wasn't the case :(

I'm sure there was initial buzz that was generally gauged (and has yet to be) via their forums/Twitter/Youtube comments, etc.

Funny you brought up the character poll, someone just asked them about one for Indivisible on Twitter and they responded that they learned their lesson with Skullgirls and won't do it again. That's good to hear.

I got caught up as a casualty in that toxic war...

*frantically searches for popularity metrics*

I'm pretty sure Kogi was well received when he was announced. Tatanka too, I think, though not as much.

*develops an ulcer*

I had no idea some were going to be npcs. Is there a poll or something for popularity?

Also any other characters going to have super modes ( like transforming) that would be hella cool

Come on son

Whips can't grow in length like that.

Nothing formal, but we did a general read of how people reacted to the various character reveals on forums, social media, etc.

I'd say all of them were well-received, but there were a few standouts. And there were a few that didn't get much reaction at all.

So balancing all of that with gameplay, etc. was how we came up with the final roster.

I hope the buff Archer from FSN looking dude made the cut. From what we saw it seemed like he'd be very antagonistic, so the fact he has to work together with her would have been great.

I figure that...
  • Kushi & Altun
  • Yan
  • Naga Rider
  • Toko
  • Baozhai
  • Narssus
  • Lanshi
  • Leilani
  • Hassam
  • Kogi
  • Sangmu
  • & Ren
... probably had the best feedback, judging from my own opinion and the admittedly limited idea I got from the comments & such.

My boy George is fucked.

As much as I would like to everyone be playable, I understand there's not enough time for everything.
Either way, I love the new character!

Polls don't matter to me, as the incarnation I wanted to be playable the most, Qadira, wouldn't have won anyway. Still, kinda want that old madness back.

Speaking of Qadira, it's strange that they now got rid of her Rose considering it seemed like an important part of her profile, but I guess it will show up again in certain moves. Wish they kept her old head dress, it really added to her character.

Edit: Woops, I'm super late! But yeah, liking the direction for the animations there. All that harvesting is like she's plucking for Pikmin~

Whoa, so she's a character that uniquely uses and crafts items? That's pretty cool conceptually. Kinda like how Ajna is the only characer that can equip weapons I suppose. All conjecture on my part of course.

Yeah, they're basically a healer/debuffer with a gambler element.

To anyone who wants it, here's a free Steam key of Brothers a Tale of Two Sons that I received from this wonderful crowdfund.

Nice to hear more confirmation on "Loyalty Quests" for some of the optional companions. When done decently, they are always ripe with some good character dynamic. I wonder how well (or rough) some of the encounters will gel with Anja upon first impressions.

Ravi, since production phase begun behind the schedule, did it affect estimated release date? Is it still Q1 of 2018 or did it move already?
