Every other forum I've been to that does this usually just complains that the Mods are power-hungry or assholes. No one would benefit from that type of thread. This thread is just different enough that the faux-paranoia is hilarious.

I doubt that sometimes it's really a specific post so much as someone racking up bad behavior and one post basically being the straw that broke the camel's back. If you see something and go "a month for that really?" They could have just skirted a bunch of bans prior and that's a big warning to tone it down from here on out.

Yeah, unless it's a particularly egregious shitpost (wishing for someone's death ect.) most people will probably go 'bwuh?' at the post that sealed their fate.

There's quarterly banned threads where EviLore has even participated. They don't want to be obligated to list why everyone is banned. They're not going to censor us from talking about why people are banned in random threads or this one, but this thread will probably die or get locked eventually.

Having read the past couple "Famous Banned GAFers" threads, I figured this one would be no different. But damn, it's a graveyard in here. :lol

The only banned GAFer I miss is ToxicAdam. He brought a nice balance to PoliGAF that is needed from that near liberal echo chamber. I appreciated his posts there, and his threads in OT. I hope he's not permed.

I also enjoyed Blame Space's posts/humor. I hope he's not permed either. I never had a problem with Ami, but I just found him unnecessarily abrasive in nearly all of his posts. He clearly has personal (anger) issues to deal with. I have no idea what EviLore saw in him to grant modship, but GAF was instantly better the moment he was demoted.

Himuro, he's a saint to the pathetic misogynistic men's rights movement.

He had probably the most-pathetic meltdown I've ever seen. Makes even more sense now if he was indeed part of the laughable Men's Rights movement. Regardless of one's opinion of the meltdown, I don't think Himuro is a men's rights activist. Himuro's take on the incident is more of him seizing a particular moment -- as he was looking to quit here anyway -- to call out attention-seeking behavior. Of course, people are free to draw their own conclusions. It's just that, personally, though I don't know if that approach was perhaps the best way to go about it, he was trying to draw attention to egregious behavior while going out in a blaze of... something, I don't know if glory is appropriate. Either way, I don't think misogyny is what fueled it.

I think that a lot of us have our issues with specific threads or posters that really hit a specific nerve, but most won't lash out for fear of a ban. He did. I don't know that I'd have necessarily gone that same route to try and get my point across, and I don't disagree with his ban since personal attacks are frowned on or whatever. But I also don't think that his irritation was misguided, because there was a post history to back up what he was bent out of shape about.

That said, there's something to be said for just quietly disappearing instead of going out in a blaze of glory.

I've had 2 3-month bans, one of which was for a 'who cares' post, the other for a joke that was perceived as tasteless.
While I'm not defending my actions or complaining about the bans, I do think I was relatively well-behaved prior to them happening so I still don't understand what warranted the length of the bans.
The first one was by Amir0x though. Not sure about the second.
