inFAMOUS Second Son 'Fetch' Trailer

I wonder if they'll reveal more characters, only to kill them off in the same trailer they were revealed in.

If you asked me, it seems like they'll probably make it optional to steal powers and kill the characters, probably let you kill them for powers but in the end of the game you won't have them around to help you or something

Maybe I'm reading you wrong but are you seriously predicting they'll give you the option of NOT acquiring additional powers, the central focus of the entire game?

That's not going to happen. And I doubt Delsin killed Fetch in this trailer.

Not certain if I remember right but wasn't gaf really down on Sucker Punch doing another Infamous when it got announced at the Playstation meeting? Amazing how much that's changed.

When they showed that first announcement trailer it was everything I have no interest in for next-gen. Gritty, realistic looking sequel to an IP that (like much of Sony's catalog) I always felt was vastly overrated.

Then they showed it at E3: I did a 180 faster than Microsoft.

Well, they could perhaps provide the player with some either or situations. Maybe not suck Fetch's powers now and you choose to ally with her and not get her powers, but that might mean you'll be against some other conduit (who could have been your ally had you not entered alliance with Fetch) and you'll get his/her abilities instead of Fetch's Neon abilities.

Yeah, the Game Informer issue came out with Infamous on the cover and half the forum trashed it and thought it didn't deserve the attention. Then Sucker Punch crushed the buildings at E3 and the hype train has been rolling ever since.

The Game Informer thread looks kind of funny now.

Hardly a feat. :p

Awesome news imo, the fact that the second power type is Neon/Dazzler powers gives me hope that they have some really cool powers lined up to show off. They pretty always save what they atleast believe will be the best for last. I dont remember if they talked about how many types there are though, I think they said 4 in total (not count karma differences, and such) but im not sure.

If I had to pick two more types though I might go with Water ( because they mention there will be allot of Rain, and looks like there is lots of spots for water interaction, and Steel/metal would also make allot of sense as there is metal all over the city. Both could make for some awesome destructive power. Pretty excited to see whats next.

Neon sounds unique and all, but I have feeling it'll just be another ranged power, neon blast, neon bomb, neon shotgun etc or something...

Well yeah. In the end, its still just a game with controller inputs.

I mean, you get a new gun in an FPS an 99% of the time its still just a ranged attack that you press a button to activate.

What else would it be?

Well yeah maybe, but they state themselves that its very different from the smoke powers in style, and tempo. It could be just another ranged power, but the tuning fork in infamous 2, and the chain so far in Second son shows they are willing to add some melee in there also.

The main character's design always prevented me from getting into this series... I'm not liking the new one either, it's a shame because the graphics are crazy

I'll forever and always think that is such a silly reason for not playing games. How much more superficial can you get?

Especially given that there's absolutely nothing wrong with Delsin, design-wise. Cole I can agree was a fairly boring character design, but Delsin looks good.

Used the search and much to my relief I didn't say anything bad (or anything about the game for that matter lol) in that thread. Don't want to sound hypocritical.

Stahp. I don't want them to redesign the character again not when Delsin actually looks hot in this one.

I think Delsin seems cool, but not liking a character is a totally legitimate reason not to play a game. I also don't see movies that center on people I can't stand or hang out with assholes. Because why would I voluntarily spend time with or around someone I can't stand when I have the choice not to? It's that simple. (Not that anyone can say whether or not they like Delsin yet.)

Count me among the Delsin admirers.

I'm assuming four powers and switching between power sets with the d-pad, but nothing official has been said so far.

It's been pointed out before, but some of the trailers have made it look like stone powers will feature in the game. This seems likely, both because it would replace the highly adored ice jump from I2 and because rock fists make for fun melee weapons.

Neon, since we now know it's officially a power set, could be used in all sorts of stealth applications. Turn out the enemy lights. Throw up some distractions, or make electronic displays go crazy. Mitigate sniper threat by depriving them of a laser sight. I doubt Sucker Punch will do us wrong, but this is something I would love to see.

If we did end up seeing water powers, I'd love for them to be of a darker inflection, similar to blood bending from the Avatar series, and verging on psychokinesis. See a tree or crop of vines that would make good minions? Flood them with your unholy water. See a person who just won't get out of your way? Manipulate the very blood in his body.

Sucker Punch, you want interesting moral decisions? How about making players decide if there's ever an appropriate time to force someone to do something not of their own volition? How about getting to use the powers for more than limiting who I kill?

One of the most interesting choices the InFamous games have given so far, in my opinion, is from I1 when you had to choose whether to make the civilian open up the tar valves. You don't really see the effect when you do the selfish thing, but getting the tar on yourself sucked for the next short while, making it something of an actual sacrifice.

I don't see water powers happening at all. Sucker Punch mentioned there'll be lots of rain which I think will diminish smoke powers (shortening their range and damage). Stone seems like a given for a 3rd power. The 4th I think will be metal. Launching cars randomly was fun in Infamous 2 and this would let us do it again. Or think about turning a parking meter into a spike and launching it at an enemy.

Delsin looks like the concept artist started with a drawing of Kurt Cobain and then changed thing around until he wasn't immediately recognizable. Or, you know, just a picture of Troy Baker. I'm completely OK with this.

I also wasn't a big fan of the new character look when watching the Second Son trailer way back in Feb. Seeing this guy with this over-the-top useless chain wristband because gritty/grunge reasons really detered me for a long time. Then E3 came and he actually used it as an effective weapon, complete with an animation to swing it back onto his wrist, thereby justifying it's existence and making me look like an asshole for doubting it. That was actually what won me over and had me say, "Alright game, you're doing good."

The trailer shown at the Playstation Meeting was underwhelming. It didn't help that Nate Fox hammed it up something awful during his embarrassing introduction, which turned a lot of people off. The E3 trailer was the pinpoint moment when jaws dropped and we all knew the game was meant business.

I was just thinking about Infamous and its awesome power line grinding traversal. Getting the leaps right, timing your thrusters, and hitting the next power line on the downslope to gain speed was such an awesome feeling.

Hope there's something similar for Second Son.
