Son lost 700h+ elden ring save

Dammm 700 hours playing elden ring, it sucks but he's 12 years old. We have all lost save files in our gaming careers from the 90s till now.
Take him out and spend the next 700 hours doing some father and son quality time.or some couch co op gaming time at the very least.

Locking save back ups to a subscription service is bullshit.... not being able to back your own saves up via external hdd is just anti consumer but for the players right?.

I'm surprised PlayStation has not been sued over holding save files hostage to a ps+ subscription. At the very least there should be the option to back up saves to an external drive.
To an USB, like you can on the PS4.

The way its set up on PS5 its like Sony made it so you HAVE to pay for your savegames to be kept.

I agree it seems like a way of doing business that should not be legal, and itd be great if someone looked into the legalese behind it. At the very least, its a really poor way of treating your customers. Unbelievable that people are just going along with it.

This happened to my son as well when I switched from PS5 to Pro. I didn't realize cloud saves were only for my account and he lost all his minecraft dungeons data. Never been chewed out by a 7 year old like that before. Unfortunately for him he wasn't allowed to play the PS5 for a week after that. He did make me laugh though.

I thought there was a way around this by doing like a full system save and then only picking the PS5 games? I don't know haven't cared enough to look it up again but I think there is a way around this its just a lot more complicated than before.

No idea.

Its the same on Xbox now, btw. You cant save single gamesaves to an external drive as far as I know. But cloud saves are free, so you dont have to worry about it. Theyre always just there when you load a game.

We've all been there... My sister overwritten my Yu Gi Oh forbidden memories save file back in the day. It still hurts
I used the two memory card trading exploit to get the best fusion cards when it happened to me. Seto's White Dragons got massacred by a Meteor B. Dragon. :ROFLMAO:

Listen....anything I put 700 hours in, has already provided me with more then enough entertainment.

I stopped caring about save files decades ago.

So long as I complete the game and get its worth, I'm good.

So, should have had many saves (especially for an RPG) and should move on to a different game

As title say my son lost 700h+ elden ring save due to corruption and reformatting of PS5. I have PSN+ so my saves are fine. Is there any way to recover that?

edit: He knows his stats my heart now, is it possible to create a build using some editor and add to PS5?
It's a cruel and unforgiving world, just like the world of Elden Ring. It's fitting really.

Tell your son to nut up.

Also love your Psygnosis icon!

He was doing PvP mostly now.

Sony has always been corrupt. You knew when they tried to screw Nintendo. Now they continue their corruption.

Cerny pretty neat gif here.

What's catching my attention here more than the lost save story, is this high amount of hours. I haven't played Elden Ring, I know it's bigger than traditional Souls game (which I played), but... 700 hours? Is there really anything remaining to do after all this time? Unless he was into PVP, I can't imagine what he was doing :messenger_grinning_sweat:

I wish i knew : (

I did the same mistake as your son with my Cybersleuth saves, took me 100 hours to get all OP Digimon. After that i moved to PC.

I would recommend saving your game saves on a USB drive for emergency. So they are at least preserved.

He was doing PvP mostly now.

Good news is: You can easily remake his builds in a week. Bad news is that it will take a week.

Elden Ring isnt Diablo which literally takes hundreds of hours to max a character.

If you REALLY want to, you can probably pay some cheater to spawn runes and the items he lost.

losing 40-50 hours would suck, but 700 hours feels like divine intervention, what could your son possibly have left to do in the game after that amount of time? please don't tell me they haven't finished the game yet.
He finished it 11 times, he has a daily limit of 1.5 hours of gaming time with some more time over weekend or when his friends are here. Since release he was just spending all time in ER. I can share the video of what he used to do with DLC pre nerfed Radahn :). Now a days his hobby was to cook in PVP, those poor souls.

Making different builds with different characters is pretty fun.

He was mostly doing PVP, also you are underestimating kids energy.

Its gone - He'll have this as a core childhood game/memory - He'll look back at it one day and reminisce about the hours he spent with...
the ugliest AAA game of all time

I can help him level up a new character with stacks of Lord's Runes, bro, I have 12 level 713 characters, let me know if you still need help

For PS5 owners: it's actually quite easy to backup and restore your saves using the option under "System" if you only select your saves. Your games installed on your M.2 ssd and external drive are unaffected. You just have to sign into PSN once you restore.

I did it for the first time a few days ago trying to save scum the No Return Grounded trophy in TLOU2 Remastered

This is why I hate the fact I that you can't or can rarely copy saves over to an USB drive like you could with the PS4. I know why they took the option away unfortunately, but it's still frustrating and silly imo.

You can backup entire ps data+ save in external storage
I know. Thats stupid sony forcing you to pay for plus if you only want backup save on cloud . But still have this option
Only few people know

Buy an Xbox and always be connected online, keep the noise aside and believe me, you'll find it convenient once you try it.

that's pretty common. only 1 account needs PS+ for everyone on the console to be able to play online and play PS+ games. but cloud saves is a feature only the main PS+ account can use sadly
AI talks about a family plan, here:

  • Cloud Storage:
PlayStation Plus provides online storage (cloud storage) for game saves, allowing you to back up your progress and access it from other consoles.

  • Family Plan Benefits:
The Family Plan allows you to share certain PlayStation Plus benefits, including cloud storage, with other family members on the same console network.

Let me get this straight:

1. Every account can play online on PS+, but only one per console have access to cloud saves?
2. You cannot backup saves to an external device?

This is some bullshit.

stop using AI then. there's no such thing as a PS+ Family plan.
anyone using AI to get information should know by now that in 90% of cases it makes bullshit up that it cobbled together from incoherent information from reddit threads.

AI makes the general population dumber at a faster speed than social media ever did, and it's a sad sight.

so, in short, there's no family plan, just individual subscriptions, and if someone plays on your main console these are the benefits and limitations:

Yes but only for ps5 games. When I upgraded to a ps5 pro from a base ps5 I was able to back my sons ps4 saves to a usb stick

Just wear it as a 700hr badge of honour on the playstation account associated and move on.

It is terrible how sony don't have free cloud saves when you can't clone your save as a back up like the ps4. It's the worst thing about the ps5 and they should sort that out.

So a family of like 4 would need 4 PlayStation Plus subs if they want to use online storage?

Correct. Thisnis bullshit on so many levels.

At least give me the possibility to store my ps5 saves on usb stick (so it's the same as with ps4 game saves that can be copied while using ps5)
