inFAMOUS - The oFFicial Thread

Yeah I probably should have expanded, shouldn't I? haha.

For example, in the mission where you have to
protect the bus for Trish
(mid-game), while the mission can be INFURIATING, I just feel like they never make you start too far back if you die. Another really good example, (last third of the game spoilers)
is climbing Alden's tower. Anytime you fall, they start you off at, I believe, the last platform you fell off of.

Regardless, I just never felt like I got knocked too far back when I was doing a "longer" mission and died. They really just nailed it perfectly to make it challenging yet comfortable and not controller smashing. It just jumped out at me for some reason.

I have to say - this is the first PS3 game I've actually worked towards getting the trophies. Its partly because they seem reasonable and because the game is just so damn fun to just tool around with.
Could not agree more. In total I'd say getting the platinum took me 6-7 hours of extra effort and that was only because I did not know any better the first playthrough. I could have easily knocked off at least 3 hours of extra play on my first Good/Hard game had I known to not upgrade the first skill last, and also not knowing to turn the difficulty from hard to normal meant it took a lot longer to get the XP i needed. Finding all the shards took a bit of time but honestly it wasn't nearly as bad as collecting random crap in other games, the radar meant you could at least do it without having to hold a printed map in front of you the whole time.

The difficulty was I have to say pretty forgiving too, Hard made the game a bit more challenging but rarely frustrating, unlike say COD where I would rather die than have to play through it on Veteran because it's so bloody annoyingly hard. inFamous really hit the sweet spot with the trophies, making them fun and rewarding - no one is getting the platinum who didn't set out to get it and spend at least a bit of effort for it - yet not so time consuming that you can't imagine grinding them out if you don't have endless hours of free time like you used to.

Really? I just beat him on my first try. (Normal difficulty though)

This is definitely my GOTY so far, at least until Uncharted 2 comes out. But the data compression on the audio assets are embarrassing, you can especially notice it on a good system with the song playing during the credits. I mean shit, you have 25 GIGABYTES TO WORK WITH. There's no excuse for that shit. I expect much better audio on inFAMOUS 2.

The checkpoints are each level that you bring the elevator up. It's pretty good but can be annoying in that part.

I've got 280 shards from the first two islands. If I'm not mistaken there's supposed to be 283 total in those two islnads, correct? Are there any shards that don't show up on the HUD if you're searching from the ground? I'm sure I've gotten everything in the Warren (including the jail and the warehouse) so I'm thinking there are 2 in the Neon district that are up high that won't show up when searching from the ground.
282 total for the first 2 island.

I *really* have to spoiler this for those of us who completed the game.

Don't read this unless you've beaten the game. It will wreck a fine story moment...

Its been a long, long time since I actually felt so morally ambiguous about what action to take in a video game. When Kessler strung up those 10 doctors and Trish and basically put it on the table that you had to pick... That was actually rough particularly since there was a countdown and you simply didn't have any time to think about it.

Save Trish Cole's girlfriend? Save 10 strangers who are doctors?

Are 10 lives really more valuable than 1 life? If it was Albert Einstein on one side and 10 criminal scum on the other side... Would your choice be different?

Who did you pick? I was playing good Cole but I still went to save Trish.

I knew the needs of many outweigh the needs of one... Yet I didn't feel the moral obligation to rescue 10 strangers (even doctors) over Cole's girlfriend even though I felt poorly about them getting killed off in the game.

If you reply please use the spoiler tag because its such a unique part of the game.

To me that part is very unique. Unlike superheros that always try to save all of them you can only pick one and you will get screwed in the end no matter what. It's a testament to how far Kessler is willing to go, unlike other lame super villains :D

trimmed that stuff...
She died irregardless of what you picked, so discussion is really moot and i sort of feel disappointed that it doesn't matter to the story. As far as debating which to do. They are Doctors, as Kessler explains, these doctors will save many lives. So you're not just saving one. Then again, I was also under the impression Trish (who I disliked, she seemed like a bitch for most of the game) was a doctor too. It's a common superhero situation, pretty much identical to the one Spider-Man had to deal with.

Trish was such a bitch that I really didn't give a shit about her. I didn't think twice about saving the doctors, the fact that they would save more lives if spared was the final nail in her coffin. There should have been a much more pronounced love scene between Cole and Trish before this happened to redeem her as a character and to give the player a bit more attachment to her.

It would be ironic
if you wanted her to die and they actually allowed her to live

6000XP and a few Blast shards left till my first platinum. :D Getting those stunts was a bitch.

Story question:
What happens if you play Hero all the way but then choose to activate the Ray Sphere instead of destroying it? Do you get snazzy lightning like you do if you're evil?

doesn't it lock you at 100% infamous (with no chance of EVER going good again) if you activate it?

Beat the game on Infamous. Have no real desire to play through again and beat it on Hero. Good game for what it did. No replay value though IMO.

I wouldn't say that - I don't know what the last game was that I completed twice, with back to back playthroughs no less. Sure, trophies sweetened the deal, but still had fun my second time around.
One of the biggest compliments I have to pay Sucker Punch with this game is that the difficulty was great for my personal needs. Hard isn't too hard which is really good, especially on the 2nd time with the game where you probably won't play every side mission for xp and where you only upgrade the most basic attributes of your character. I even could tackle all the stunts on hard easily, which I was worried about initially. The game might have turned out too easy for some ultra hardcore among us, but for me it was pretty much perfect in that department.

I did that one my third run.

You instantly become evil and capped at the highest rank Infamous. There's no going back.

On my first play through (hero) I picked what was supposedly Trish and couldn't believe she was in the group of 6 (not to mention the bad karma) so I loaded the last autosave and then picked the doctors thinking Trish was one of them and I'll save her and BAM, she dies in that one too. FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
:lol

On my Evil/Hard playthrough now and f**k the Reapers have bullshit aim. Hella fun beating on the Cops and Protesting civilians. "What was that, I am scum...BAM bicycle kick upside the head; and here's 20000 volts for your troubles bitch!" :lol

347/350

It's getting really hard to track down those last shards. I've L3'd my way through every island and visited every building on the shores. Fat lot of good a map will do me now

Check the prison area again, and the tall building next to the crater. Also, the shards aren't just on the buildings next to the shores, they're actually oftentimes right at the edge next to the water, or a bit further out. Did you get the shard that's a bit out in the water on top of a lone wooden beam?

Yeah, I have 346/350 on a save, and I thought I got all of them going block by block (and around the edges), but apparently not. :/

Searching might happen later, and since I'm partway through on my evil hard run (which I'm one stunt away from getting all of them), just need a little time to get the Platinum.

yep, those water/beam shards were some of the last ones I've collected. I've revisited the prison and other enemy compounds. I'll check that building next to the crater again, but last time L3 didn't give me any blue dots in the crater area

wooo got my platinum! Definitely worth the 2nd playthrough (although bio leeching trophy was a bit of a pain by the end game). Loved the karma missions, the ones for evil were quite surprising and refreshing.

But that was the only good part about playing evil as I find the good powers so much more powerful than the evil ones. Although evil can be quite thrilling with the destruction of shockwave car explosions + lots of mini rockets and grenades, it just doesn't quite have the impact of the good homing megawatt hammers and the strong grenades that restrain foes, not to mention floating all bad guys up into the air.

Finished it as a Hero tonite....awesome ending.....330/350 shards!

Theres one shard over in the historic district that is on that tall smoke stack.....i do the jump from the high building next to it and i always JUST miss grabbing it. Is that really where i need to jump from?

Just got that one this morning. You have the right idea you need to jump from the high building next to it. I think I jumped up on top of an air vent on the roof to get just a little more height. After that it's all about gliding to the shard.

The shard at the top of the building won't show up if you L3 on ground level (it's too high up).

I agree with you icechai. something that bothered me about playing evil:

So after a while Sasha sends you some Reaper conduits for the Evil missions, you fight alongside and are in cahoots. However if you return to the Neon and still have districts unclaimed, Reapers and Reaper conduits still attack you! I kept saying in my head, "Sasha, get your boys off me! We're cool now!"

I checked and I already got it. I didn't know high orbs didn't show up... maybe I'll go revisit some other high points.

Started my second playthrough on good. The added difficulty makes the game feel fresh again. It's funny how you never get tired of shooting and blasting enemies and getting stunt points. God this game is so awesome

The game is amazing (probably gonna finish my first playthrough tonight), but i seriously can't understand why they didn't put in a fucking stats page (like the one in prototype, for those who played it) : /

There is one (albeit not detailed enough) in the save file info section, but yeah, odd they didn't add some in-game stats display.

Did anybody think the Platinum trophy in inFAMOUS was easy?

Erm, the platinum yeah was pretty easy, but it still took a fair while to get. At least for me anyway. I thought it was the perfect balance, it wasn't frustratingly difficult but you had to "grind" on occasions like with the stunts and shards. Was time consuming, it rewarded effort rather than rewarding ability. Which is good for me :lol 3rd platinum with Uncharted and KZ2!

awesome avatar FF.

Thanx! Tho I've changed it now. Thought I'd go for something more manly :p

The ending was amazing. *ENDING SPOILER* (duh!)
I'm never a fan of *spoiler* time travel usually, but the fact that the whole game was just training for you to face the real threat to the world in the future, is beyond epic! And it also makes Trish's *spoiler* death a lot more tragic. The ending is very satisfying yet leaving it open for an epic sequel, without any ridiculous cliff hangers. They did a great job.

omg for reals.
wouldn't it have been awesome if after doing those missions you got to keep the conduits permanently, so there'd always be 3 spawning around you to help you anywhere in the other districts? Would kind of make up for the fact that your powers have less oomph than the good ones as well. Good = single badass who can knock people sky high, Evil = you and your posse laying waste to things around you.
Ahh the possibilities.

That would've been pretty cool. I'm really looking forward to inFamous 2. The only other games this gen that had such a great impact on me were Ass Creed, MGS4, KZ2 and Crisis Core. I want all their sequels now!

Welcome back CHRP!

Can someone tell me how many shards are on each island again?

147 in the Neon
135 in the Warren
68 in the Historic District

And I'm missing one... somewhere :P. I wish the game would at least tell me which island my missing one is on!!

Step away for a bit maybe. The large bulk of the shards I missed right up until the end were in the Neon, there's a ton of 'em there and a good number in out of the way places. Check the coastlines carefully, it's easy to miss the blue dot when it's on/right beside the water so if you L3 and even think for a second you saw a blip but then decided it was just the water go check. Other than that I found a few last ones by searching block by block through the Neon, the only real help the maps I printed gave me was using them to keep rough track of which city blocks I had checked through. Look at the game map and orientate yourself with the printed map then hit all (or at least most) of the buildings in that section while spamming L3 like a fiend.

Don't give up! :D

Thanks. Going through the Neon right now collecting the shards, should be done with Neon in a few.

Edit: And the Neon should be done now.

This is why I don't even try. I finished the game with six missing, but I won't try to get the rest. Games are fun, searching for blue dots is not fun. I don't have any platinum trophies and don't plan on getting one now :)
