inFAMOUS - The oFFicial Thread

Adding another complaint about the game that I have (to go with the wonky cutscene animations): the side missions are a variation of only like 5 or 6 missions... and they're all essentially the same, except with more/harder enemies.

I thought they would change once you get to the second island but nope... same crap.
Fortunately, most of them are extremely easy.

PLayed the demo last night. First impressions was "Fuck this looks like a PS2 game"

Started enjoying the game though so I can put my technical dissapointments aside.

You sir, are a fucking idiot and need to go back and look at some PS2 games.

Even the best looking PS2 games (God of War 2) don't look as good as this.

So tired of bullshit troll posts like this on GAF.

Sincerely,
Shinjitsu

Since there's no wallpapers for this thread, I decided to make a few (they were actually my own personal WPs).

They're 1920 x 1200 full sized, since that's my monitor size....
Enjoy

The Gametrailers review sounded like a paid review. The guy has the same voice than in the Bionic Commando game. In the Bionic Commando review it was called out as a cheap Solid Snake imitation, but here it is "well established" with a "deep tone"? :lol

But glad to see that the game is getting good reviews though.

Maybe it depends on the lines of dialogue in the game rather than just the voice.

It's sad that you're trying to insinuate it's a paid review though. I figure the good scores across the board from multiple sources points that it's probably the AAA title of the moment in the market.

I just played the demo and couldn't really get into it. I didn't look for any sensitivity settings initially but the aiming felt loose to me. The jumping also didn't really feel intuitive either, maybe I just had a different idea of the weight of the character. The enemies around town felt a bit overpowered during the first segment, the snipers mainly. When an enemy is behind or next to a fence its impossible to kill them without getting around that. It'd be nice if the flowing electricity on the objects next to them did some damage instead of just being visible.

I think the biggest thing was I felt I should be able to move faster, jump higher and aim a little tighter. I did the train mission and the guard the medicine mission and then didn't want to play any further. One thing I did like were the generous checkpoints. Very helpful while trying to get used to the controls. I might give it a 2nd go just to make sure this is my final verdict and search for sensitivity options, but I probably won't be getting an Uncharted 2 code :(.

just downloaded the demo...wow this game is ugly....
Compared to what? Other open-world games I've tried this gen were all uglier. Unless I count Burnout, but that's a bit of a stretch to compare with.

1. I can't believe people come in to say this game is ugly. Clearly they aren't considering what type of game this is, or they just don't understand that an open world game will never look as good as Gears or Killzone.

ALL open world games have horrible pop in. The frame rate seems much steadier to me in contrast to GTAIV, and that was one of my biggest pet peeves in that game.

2. As far as Memorial Day...people generally go out of town to the beach or mountains because no one works on Monday. It makes more sense to release it the day everyone gets back from vacation.

really? maybe I haven't gotten far enough, or I haven't played any open world games in a while....off the top of my head I would say this is at the top of the ugly list. Maybe my eyes will work better in the morning.

Played the shit out of the demo. I love it. I knew I would, always believed in Suckerpunch. Those people do not fuck up.

I must buy dualshock 3 just for this game.

People with the full game: Can you remap grenades to R2? This is the only thing that doesn't feel right with the controls.

The Listen UP impressions have re-lit the fire under my Infamous-hype-belly.

My time playing the demo was unfortunately cut short when I fell through the ground after bouncing from one explosion to another. The game just hung as Cole froze is nothingness. :lol

Consider yourself lucky, I don't think anyone else has experienced that yet. :lol

what in the fucking fuck is this shit amazon ..

wow, its a great feeling to discover your powers as you progress through this game, and from my evening of playing, the story starts STRONG (as all reviews have mentioned). Done a few story missions and my OCD got triggered with the dead drops, side quests, and blast shards :P
I got my first evil xp today, restrained a reaper and while killing others around, one of my stray blasts executed him... oops :P that's not really a spoiler but just in case hehe

sometimes they lag behind on updating on that shit, so I wouldn't worry
yet
.

One time I ordered a game and it was delivered to my house before it showed it as shipped from amazon and then updated all at the same time, but that has only happened once.

Grand Theft Auto IV and Assassin's Creed trounce this game in visuals. Then again, you really do get used to them, as silly as that sounds.

GTA? No, never. Just no. GTA has heavy jaggies as well, runs sub_HD with bad textures and has a worse framerate. GTA does not look better and it's performance is worse.
AC looks better but imo the viuals are also much more repetitve with a lot of copy and paste and a boring architecture.

This one DOES look better than GTA IV. I played them in quick succession after each other and inFamous has more visual fidelity and details and more shit going on at the same moment. Really, it looks better than IV.

I agree with this. gTA4 was beat by inFAMOUS when it comes to textures and framerate imo. However, the Euphoria engine does some amazing things when it comes to ragdoll physics, cant deny that. But overall, inFAMOUS is visually better than GTA4 purely as a gameplay experience.

OTOH, Assassins Creed is miles ahead when it comes to graphical fidelity... it just sucks that inFAMOUS is just so much better in gameplay, mission structure and story... And I say this as one of the few people on GAF who enjoyed AC, finished the whole story mode and cant wait for the 2nd installment.

inFAMOUS is just way too much fun to compare to either of those games. I am excited for Prototype too... looking forward to its reviews. I plan on picking it up unless its reviews dont come through.

Can someone confirm this? Does it really suffer from the ass creed plague? :(

There are missions where you race past checkpoints and ones where you get trains working and ones where you stealthily follow a dude and ones where you kills loads of reapers and ones where you send them to prison and ones where yuo ahve to capture some alive and ones where you have to find hidden shit and ones where you have to do stuff for a photographer and ones

And that's it. Rest is story missions.

No. He's talking about the side missions. In Ass Creed the main missions were shit.

EDIT:

How can I unlock the clothes!? I have the shared preorder demo...

yeah, I totally missed the "side missions". Nice :)
Thanks for replying (McBacon, Jtrizzy, Thrakier).
