inFAMOUS - The oFFicial Thread

OH man the gameplay mechanic with the stick and the button combo is really creative in the first boss fight.

How do you travel back and forth between the island? I just got to The Warren, but I'd like to lockdown the rest of the Neon District first.
I don't think you can yet. Eventually you get a mission to lower the drawbridge.

And yeah, that was a really neat twist on a QTE. I don't think I've ever seen something like that before.

Also, it's 60FPS the entire time in the boss room :D

no they are available as soon as you input the code. go into the powers menu its all the way on the right, starting one costs 600 points

I've entered the code and the blades are on the powers screen but they're greyed out and say "unavailable". Should they be purchasable from the off, or do you have to advance a certain way?

So, how is this game for someone who's on the fence about sandbox games. Seems I get burned everytime I play one... though I guess they've always been GTAs.....

I dislike sandbox games in general, and absolutely loathed GTA4, found it to be a real grind to finish.

This game seems do do everything right that I normally hate in sandbox games. The main traversal is just fun, and you can really pull off some cool looking stunts and maneuvers.

The side missions have been great especially the sly cooper esque race ones.

Great checkpoint placement also.

and the story is fantastic.

The side mission I hate is SPY GAMES, which is a GTA-style "trail the car" type mission. Truly horrible. I hate stealth gameplay.

the escort 'walk the dog' is wayyy duller for me. every mission besides these two i've really really enjoyed though, and i know i haven't seen them all (or any of the evil ones for that matter)

Oh, yeah, isn't that amazing? When you die during a mission, the game doesn't pretend you weren't doing a mission at all! And if you die during a tough platforming sequence (fall off a ledge...it does happen!), the game puts you back before the sequence. You don't wake up at the medical clinic.

IT"S AMAZINERN!!!11

I started laughing during that mission when they stopped and started chucking rocks at me :lol

So I just got to the second island. Is there no way to go back to the first one?

edit: yeah that was an interesting take on the qte in the boss fight. I like it quite a bit.

Today I met Bruce Oberg and Ken Schram of Sucker Punch, they had an autograph session and a Q&A at a GAME store here in Portugal, Eurogamer.pt was also there as well as the guy who does Cole's voice in Portuguese. I went there for three reasons, first to buy inFAMOUS, second Uncharted 2 Beta and the third one was that the first five people to buy the game got a voucher for some personalized PUMA sneakers and I'm in desperate need to buy sneakers.

It was pretty fun, the SONY representative had like a ton of Uncharted 2 vouchers, but I only got one. I wish I had brought more for some Gaffers but I don't really like asking for that stuff.

Some pics (sorry for the quality my camera phone is really bad)

I don't really care for autographs, but they had to sign something!

About the game, I love it. I really like the fact that you can use practically everything as cover and that you can shoot hanging from everything. I've been playing on hard since the beginning but I haven't found it hard yet though I'm sure as I progress things will get a lot tougher.

Wtf at this boss battle:

I beat Sasha and got a "Good" action thing, I'm trying to do evil but I didn't even know there was a choice in that battle. What was it? I ruined my only Evil playthrough :(

I finally get a chance to play again. Does anybody else play the way I do? Avoiding story missions like the plague because I don't want to push the story forward too fast? I do this with all games with side missions.

Just go around killing civilians :lol It's slower to build up but it works.

I stomped down to the floor from a high ass building and didn't mean to kill so many innocent people. I got downgraded in hero rank :lol

Play the story missions until a lot of side missions pop up. Then when you finish all the side mission play the next missions until more side missions pop up. That's what I'm doing.

That's what was doing last night, but then I wasn't going to get the cool power unless the story moves forward.

OK, so I'm just taking a break after around 90 minutes of playing.

This game is fantastic. Love the lightning powers, love the levelling up and how some skills are locked to good and evil tasks. adds some re-playability.

I really like the animation and traversal mechanics. it feels easier than crackdown to scale buildings and shuffle along ledges, but it's not automatic like assassin's creed.

it's still early and it's been pretty easy so far but I like that. I don't like my open ended games to be too frustrating.

anyway, this game is really scratching my itch for a open world badass game in a big way. I'll probably also pick up prototype for the more inhuman powers but this one has been awesome so far.

But what was the way to get the Evil rank for that mission?

End game discussion:

I really, really hope that Sucker Punch lets us use our inFamous save in inFamous 2, so that we can continue our evil/good paths.
It seems like that may be what they're setting up, though. Sasha constantly talks to you during the evil campaign, and hints at you two possibly working together in the future.
How awesome would that be??

Sasha > Trish, by the way
:P

Ugh, I'm trying to play good. I walk up to save an injured civilian but I failed to notice he was in a puddle of water. So instead of rescuing a civilian I actually accidentally electrocuted 3. I swear I mean good, I'm just a little klutzy. My karma should be based on my intentions.

The road to Hell is paved with good intentions

I don't know. Maybe there is no choice. I had couple missions that gave me an evil rank when I wasn't doing anything evil.
Well I got a trophy for it and usually there is one trophy for good and one for evil.

lol at references to real world stuff. Didnt see the
Phelps
comment coming.

As for the demo voucher, im ok. Glad I got the beta voucher, but since the demo voucher is supposed to be separate (at least thats what i've seen in this thread) i'll probably be able to get one later.

This is going to be yet another one of those games where it'll be impossible for me to play good. Devs need to stop making playing evil so much more entertaining.

I just noticed the blue shard dots on the mini-map when you press L3. Makes hunting them down a LOT more fun.

It's things like that, the mid-mission checkpoints and the forgiving platforming that make it so much more fun than previous open world games.

Really loving it so far. Sucker Punch should once again feel proud of their work.

:lol I can imagine what your face must have been like at that moment. :O OH NOOOO. Your experience right there blends in perfectly with Cole learning his powers. Just need a sad voice-over about it.

Is it wrong to import the special edition? :(

Jinfan is right, at 60fps this game looks good but damn when it hits under that.

Sorry if already answered but since the game comes out tomorrow in Euroland I was wondering if the English language patch was released already? I'd hate to buy the game and wait for the patch to go live before playing it.

So, anyone with the Euro version here?

This game is fun as hell. So damn addicting. Started the game today and I'm already on second island, with 100% on first island. Also, imo, playing good is way more fun! There were a few times when I didn't know what to do and I'd end up choosing evil actions, I'd always restart from last checkpoint! :p

Maybe the devs are making a comment about how hard it is to be good :lol.

In other news, once I get back from the gym I'm going to play this until I get to bed :)

Trust me dude it's hard as hell to stay good. I just wanna blow up everything and kill everyone I see, yet I wanna play both sides 100% evil and good.

It is hard. Forced myself to go good first time through. If the game is going to be more fun evil than why experience that first.

Good point. Closing browser. Goodbye everyone.

Next time I boot up the game I'm gonna blow that city the fuck up. I will become ultimate evil.. EVERYONE WILL COWER IN FEAR AS I DRINK THE BLOOD IF THE INNOCENT!! >_<

then I'll reset the game without saving :P

Anyone have any tips on the RGIHT BACK AT YA stunt? I'm querying whether it has to be a Grenade, or whether you can use a Rocket instead - that would be easier, because rocket-launching enemies are more plentiful.

Also, any good specific missions which are recommended for helping to achieve this stunt?

Bond market analysis and strategies course is incredibly annoying knowing this game is waiting for me at home. I don't fucking care about pricing convertible bonds to be honest.

I'm playing evil first so my 2nd 100% playthrough can feel "right". I always feel that being good is the true way these stories unfold. Which is why i'm doing mostly just the evil side missions. Doesn't really make sense to be saving people and doing them favors if i'm being evil.
