inFAMOUS - The oFFicial Thread

Try it before you bash it.

The powers are much more varied than you might expect.
Yeah, I haven't even gotten bored of the normal lighting bolt yet. Getting a head shock and having all of the other metal things near the enemy become electrified is so satisfying.

So your only power is to shoot lightning in this game?

No other elements? Must get monotonous.

Kind of reminds me of the PS1 game Galerians, without all of the other cool powers.

There's a demo dood.

Im doing my first playtrough as HERO and....
I choose to save Trish
i didnt saw that coming

Both.
Great game, just when it starts to get dull something awesome happens.
Seriouly one of the best games for PS3.

I want my inFAMOUS 2 Sucker Punch!

Obvious troll is obvious.

You people bitching about enemies killing you all the time just running around, are you on the ground or what?

.

They're not killing me just annoying me with bullets is all! The side-missions are short you're right but I just feel the game would be more clean cut with a few less.

So, this game is good.

Also, anecdotally, this game is getting a decent buzz. As a matter of comparison, many more of my friends who are casual games are purchasing this game than KZ2. Advertising works, who would have thought.

2014 movie confirmed with Jake Gyllenhaal playing Cole.

Holy fuck I need to go to sleep now. I've been up since 3PM on Saturday playing this game. I got it on May 26th and already got myself a platinum. First real platinum I'll most likely ever get.
Next is Hannah Montana..lol

But damn, I don't know if I'll ever pick this game back up, no real reason to for me now. It's done its job, it was 60 bucks well worth it. Probably spent at least 3o hours on the game, and I rarely ever do that(I almost never 100% anything in a game, and most JRPGs that are 50+ hours I rarely ever even beat). This game just rocks.

Now I know how trophy whores feel though, when Platinum lit up on the screen, I almost cried.

EDIT: Only real gripe with the game, is that Counter-Surveillance is such a shitty Side-quest.

how much of the game is left once I make it to the 3rd island? Sounds like some people are having issues with not enough exp to unlock all moves towards the end of the game, I'm trying to avoid that. Is there a good place/mission to grind for exp?

More powers don't mean a thing if the game is not fun.

inFamous has a variety of power usage, but more importantly, it's a good game.

Give it a try.

I am just saying the last two or three big choices you make don't seem to change the story in any way because its pretty much going down the path they set it on.

Just finished up my Good/Hard run, game is SO FUKKEN GOOD! Hella tight, yo! Now I just gotta heal up some more peds (this is where a counter would come in handy), rank up my last few positive powers (need to get about 15,000xp uuugh) and the Platinum is mine! :D

inFamous 2, bring it! Bring it so hard Sucker Punch, srsly.

Also noticed that Quinton Flynn (Raiden from MGS) is listed in the credits. Wonder who he played..

Be more specific? If it's what I'm thinking of, it totally makes sense in the end.

I saw Flynn listed as a pedestrian voice. But there's a lot of them, so pinpointing which one... well....

I was 1/3 through the game on the "Good" path, and my PS3 broke... ...and, of all days, on my 30th friggin' b-day. Man, there's something wrong about spending $150 on your b-day to have your $600 console fixed.

Damn it, I have searched every section of each island and I still have 13 shards to find. Do we know what happens if you are playing good and you choose NOT to kill someone for their shards? are you screwed?

I swear I heard one of the pedestrians say Cole was a mutant. Have anyone noticed that when you get to the hero rank and saved most of the city that the pedestrians are actually attacking dustmen with rocks? I was showing the game to a friend and he commented at the people fighting the dustmen. It was the first time I noticed it.

Nope those shards do not count in the overall collection. I think someone posted the shard locations of all 3 maps.

Those don't count toward the 350 for the trophy, only towards the battery cores.

eh, that doesn't help now. I'm now going back to 350 location one at a time, not after all this time. Thank for the info about the mission shards though.

"Happy birthday?" at least. :D

I went to the gamecrazy by my house to pick this up and they had a 360 demo station setup but Infamous was running on it. I guess they had a PS3 hidden in the back somewhere. Very strange to say the least.

did you make sure to collect all of the shards on the first 2 islands before moving on to the 3rd? or do you really have 13 shards to find over all 3 locations? im STILL looking for 2 more fucking shards on the 2nd island. been up the tall tower/police station multiple times, nothing up there. efffffffff

any tips for getting the 25 kills on the train? it moves too fast and too wobbly to even use the sniper

Have you got the trains moving on all 3 islands? If so, you're gonna have to suffer through it.

For me (in addition to the main story mission that has you start the trains on the Neon district) I did the El Train mission in the Warren and at the very start as the train is building steam there's a guy on a building to the right you can snipe. I'd kill him, and then jump into the river. You'd start right back at the beginning of the train rolling. Repeat.

So what's the consensus on this question:

- Are there shards which you can only collect at a certain point in the game and are locked out if you miss them?

This game is amazing, just finished it today. The controls are near perfect, with the smoothest analog aiming in any PS3 game I've played. It's also one of the few games where I finished it then immediately started over (after purchasing the last good power and getting the stunt trophy).

Can't wait for the sequel.

No, you can get all the shards at any point in the game, the trouble is finding them all lol.

Just got 350 earlier today the last one took FOREVER to find :(

Some chick just walked up to me and said "Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here!".

Back to the Future references make Sucker Punch even more awesomer.

Thanks. I have 7 more to find across the three islands. No idea where to begin. I'm thinking it's easiest to do a perimeter search first and then work your way inwards, block by block.

So, I'm getting kind of far into the game now and the story is pretty darn decent. It's a comic book issue series or something. I dig it. GOD I want to turn evil sooooooooooooooooooo bad though. :lol

Finally finished it, this may be the first time I played the game on hard without already beating it on normal. I felt like it was the perfect difficuty though, any less and I think the game would have been too easy, but I'm not sure how different "normal" is.

Great ending. I'm very curious how it plays out when you're on the evil side.

Even though it felt epic, by the end of the last cutscene it felt like the introduction to a much larger arch. I really like where they're going with this story and hope the franchise continues.

Haha, wtf?

yeah, I already did the Warren one. I still haven't done the one in the last area, so maybe I can do something similar there. Thanks.

So I just beat this

Will there be no DLC at all? There is no PSN label on the box

Its nice that
The game lets you continue after the end, but with no newer quests to do or anything, there isnt much to do aside from collecting blast shards :/

I really hope there is a DLC! According to the news reporter (a few hours after finishing the game),
They have found a "cure" for the quarantine. In a week or two, everyone will be cures and there is a ceremony at the bridge

Here's hoping we get a DLC later in future that'll continue where this left off and during the
ceremony, all hell breaks loose and the gangs start creating shit all over again.

I would LOVE me some DLC side missions!

If you just got "Taking out the trash" trophy then I'm assuming you've just reached Historic District with all missions for that zone NOT yet done. If so, you have around 4 to 6 more hours.

OK I need 15 more shards I am noticing they are getting a bit harder to find on the mini map.

Also there's like 20% of the historic district I have not captured yet and there doesn't seem to be any missions dow there, will they show up after I complete what appears to the final story mission?

Yeah, if you look at your stats on the save screen it'll say that you have done 84 of 84 districts.

i'm pretty sure sucker punch said the only thing they were disappointed with that want in future projects is that they didn't have time/resources to put in dlc/multiplayer, as in the functionality/content isn't coming for possible dlc down the road.

They CAN do some DLC... a whole new island or mainland... There is a bridge going south from the Neon District, and another going east from the Historic District. They could totally open those areas up and join them to the existing game map. Put some blast shards, transitional missions (b/w this game and the sequel) and some dead drops fleshing out those missions, and bam... you got DLC.

I'd pay for that Day 1.

how do I
beat the flying balloon thing that sprays gas in the historic district

You need a powerful strike to disable its shield... so use
Lightning Power
... after that, climb something high and glide towards it with your shield on so that ur safe from its bullets. After that it should be easy.

Ok, this sound odd, but I'm now convinced he radar isn't totally accurate for shards. I've had it happen twice now. Just now in the neon district. I was checking a spot on a small house on a dock. I stood at the end of the dock and clock the radar a few times...nothing. Then I climb the little house and WHAT? there is a shard there. I click the radar again and NOW the blue dot is there. I had another one do the same thing; the blue dot would not show up on radar until I had SEEn the shard with my camera, and I don't think it is supposed to work that way

After I beat the game I realized I used the shield maybe twice total after I got out of the sewers where you get it. :lol That and thunder drop were my least used abilities by far, and sadly there is a trophy for drop takeouts I think... if it's a 100 for the trophy I'm likely 95 off the pace. ;)

Lame. They have the perfect in game setup to deliver more content. Oh well.
