inFAMOUS - The oFFicial Thread

Big late-game spoilers, don't read:

So I just did The Price mission where you gotta choose between saving Trish or saving the 6 doctors. I chose the doctors but just found out Trish dies later anyway. How does she die later? what happens etc

Reall? I did the opposite choice and got
Trish was apart of the doctors so she fell to her death. Was just some random chick hanging up there that i saved

Interesting :lol

Yep
She dies no matter what

After finishing the good story, i have been going back to Empire City finishing all the side missions, collecting the remaining dead drops and shards. It's surprisingly fun.

What i found out by collecting shards, is that you don't need to button mash to climb a building. In most cases, it's faster and easier when you anticipate the route you're going to take.

After this, i'm going to let it rest for a while before doing the evil playthrough so that i can at least forget some parts of the story to keep it fresh.

Great game though. I'm very much hoping Sucker Punch is going to do a sequel next.

It's one of the best games I've played and it has one of the best storys a videogame ever had. Pure awesome! Great job, Sucker Punch.
InFamous 2 will be awesome! Awesome new franchise for SCE!

Easily one of the most original games I've ever played. The music, the story, the gameplay. All of it makes it quite literally one of the best games I've played... ever. Also - awesome credits. Music was perfect for the end... made it feel like a movie.

No one should miss this game.

I honestly cannot wait for a sequel.
So true! One of the GOTF for me! Awesome

The best thing is that for the sequel they don't have to spend much time on the gameplay. It is rock solid, everything works so well which means they can spend more time on the engine getting rid of the little glitches.

I can't believe they didn't put up the Gigawatt Blades as regular DLC by now, for 2,99 or something.
They would've made so much money with it, for no extra work.
I would've liked to try them out during my playthroughs, but it's pretty much too late by now.

No one? Strategy on right back at ya stunt?

I got this in the rescue Zeke mission. When you approach the part where there is a ramp going up to the left to a turret you get ambushed by trashmen. I also got the flying melee here by shockwaving one in the container and then quickly meleeing him.

I used them maybe once. They're stronger but its easier just to upgrade melee imo.

I give up on the 'right back at ya' stunt....wasted over an hour last night trying to get it. My shockwave is too powerful, and it takes forever for them a-hole guards in any district to throw a grenade....

Im at the third Island now so ive pretty much missed all the easy opps to get this. I'll focus on this stunt in my Evil playthrough, BEFORE i power up my shockwave.

Yeah!
This is what they need to do for the sequel:
Bigger areas, improved graphics, another great storyline, more super-powers (
Kessler did a lot of of new/strong stuff
), more different quests!
That's it! Just bigger and better! Gameplay is superb!
Damn, what an awesome game!!

Gigawatt blades are awesome! They safed my ass not only once :D

As long as the sequel makes it where i can fall straight to the ground, rather than sometimes being pulled to an object that I don't want to grab. If there's a button to do that, I must've missed it.

I couldn't use the gigawatt blades during my evil play through, is that normal?
I used them quite well on my good play through, which I started with.

I thought the ending may have been different based on the choice you made in that mission. Im disapointed that is not the case.
Oh keep playing, you'll find out at the end why it was that way.

Oh my god i just beat it (massive spoilers, don't read)

Holy crap at the ending...so awesome. I had no idea at all...what a badass ending. I can't wait for infamous 2.

Btw, i'm so sad that it only sold 175k its first month...this is one of those games that should have sold like 500k in the first month at least. The game had everything going for it...amazing production values, great sandbox setting that should have appealed to the masses, a good title for a video game, 9's across the board, good marketing/tv ads. It's disgusting how all these spectacular AAA PS3 exclusives just don't sell for whatever reason. I can understand the multi-platform games not selling (maybe there's a lot more people who own both consoles than we think and they get the MP games on the 360?), but why the heck do these ps3 exclusives just continue to bomb? It's like half the ps3 userbase just owns one for blu-ray or something. It makes no sense to me. Infamous did absolutely everything right. I have a feeling it would've sold millions on the 360, at least 400-500k the first month. Yes, I know it released at the end of the month...still, that's no excuse as sales are front-loaded for these types of hardcire games. Fucking ridic, man.

Question for those who have beaten the game.

Is it worthwhile to do a lot of the side missions? I'm planning on just playing straight through without doing side missions because I really don't have time and I usually lose interest .. will i miss out on anything big?

Only side missions that are interesting story wise are the karma ones. The only reason you'd want to do the side missions is to take over each island.

Best case scenario would be if it turned out to be a slow burner and continuous seller by word of mouth, but we'll see.

You're not gonna do any of them at all? I suggest you at least do a few of each type of side mission. There's a lot of fun missions...it's a huge part of the game.

Did you forget to buy them in the powers menu?

It's not gonna be a slow-burner... there has yet to be any PS3 game that's been a slow-burner. It's a bomb, just like every other amazing AAA PS3 exclusive, and it makes me sick.

Playing through on evil. I should have played it on EVIL to begin with. Hilariously fun. I'm about 10+ missions in and just got the rail gliding ability and the mission I've got to attempt is the train/john rescue one from the demo. But evil = spamming power everywhere. So fun.

Well, there's also never been a game quite like Infamous on the system. Good demo, it should get good buzz on message boards and elsewhere, and people who see it being played are likely to be interested in buying it for themselves. Then again, I'm starting to think that current PS3 owners are mostly nerdy hermits, so word of mouth may not be applicable.

They should do a bit in the tunnels. i heard somewhere that the tunnels are annoying but I love going into the tunnels. Game becomes quite platformy in there. I actually think the train stage in the demo is fucking awful. Move. find box. Spam attack. I didn't like that in the demo much.

I think say "terrorist bus" might make a more fun demo.

I was waiting to get the GigaWatt Blades before playing through again as good, but it's taking too long - got a code off ebay instead. I can understand why they'd use preorder bonuses in the first place, but what exactly is the point of delaying access to everyone who didn't pre-order at a specific store? I would've gladly paid £3 for the GigaWatt Blades the day I got the game, if only they were available.

Square, kinda. You go into Thunder Drop, so you won't grab anything. And if you have Static Thrusters unlocked, you can hold R1 just before landing to go out of Thunder Drop and thus not have to put up with the big landing animation and whatnot.

It's messy, but it works.

Perhaps a special "Pro Explorer" option when it comes to "stickiness" would be a good idea for the sequel. I like the ease of platforming, but it would be nice if you could have a choice in how much assist you want.

umm uncharted? infamous could be like that and just slowly pick up sales in the next year

Ok don't laugh at me but I got stuck last night.

I'm early on in the game (got it last week with little time to play) and I hit the "High Ground" mission, I electrified the communications tower like the lady told me to do but I don't no where to go from there. I think she said I have to restore power to that section or something but I've searched around everywhere and can't seem to find out what to do.

Any help would be appreciated...

Is this map correct? I'm missing 1 shard and I know it's in the Historic District because I got 147 in Neon and 135 in Warren, supposedly there's 68 in the District but I only counted 66 on this map....

How is that a spoiler :lol :lol

Finished the game this morning , so decided to do all the stunts. It has taken me 6 hours to do 6 stunts. Reason ? I had done all the side missions so there were virtually no enemies left (spent the best part of 2 hours trying to find a conduit for wack a mole, the conduit that teleports always seemed to dissapear at the crucial moment and would die from some random stone, the small robot conduit was unfindable and the 3rd doesn't even exist anymore).

I absolutly loved the game and did not expect that ending ( i am missing about 20 shards and dont know if i will try to find all of them). Can't wait for inFamous 2.I swore the name of every member of the European marketing member as the credits rolled. Evey person i've ever showed or talked about the game to has asked me if this was prototype:( i live in england and havent seen a single ad for inFamous on TV but am regularly bombarded by prototype adverts).

Dont worry looking at the charts its doing pretty well.

I'm about two thirds of the way through my first (good) through in Infamous and I've got to say that out of every game Sony has developed and/or published this generation, Infamous is probably my favorite.

As my avatar might have given away I'm a bit of comic book fan, so I might have a bit of a bias towards the themes and settings when I say the following but this game is essentially the most kick ass super hero game I've played to date. I think this experience was only possible because it wasn't weighed down by some pre-existing character, with a history and ability set that every player was instantly familiar with and would want to have at the start of the game. Cole is kind of a blank slate, it doesn't matter that he starts out sort of underpowered, there's no preconceived expectation of what you should be able to do. Cole kind of reminds me of a character Warren Ellis created for one of his books, he was a god of the city, some super-human mysteriously powered by urban life , Cole is kind of the same way, albeit he's entirely dependent on the power grids you restore throughout the city.

Infamous is also the best use of the water hazard in a game yet. Water essentially being death makes so much sense in this game.

I'm also quite the sucker for some great platforming and Sucker Punch really nailed that aspect so well. It's fun to explore the city but there's a few sections of the game where you're really getting in to some serious platforming, it's so much fun and it's so intense, you really get a sense of the scale when you scale the
prison where Alend' being held or Alden's tower of garbage
on the second island. They really found a good balance between Cole's abilities, player control and what little automation there is. platforming doesn't feel automatic like it can be in Prince of Persia.

It's a fun game, definitely going to go through on an evil run some point after I beat it.

Uncharted was bundled with the PS3. Its first month sales were something terrible like 135k NPD.

I wish you could click L3 on the map screen to find the missing shards. Would have been at least cool to have been able to do this after complettion as a bonus maybe.

Can't be bothered to find the 2 needles in a haystack I'm missing. Nor can I be arsed to grind another 6k XP to buy my final upgrade. Should be more to do after completion.
