inFAMOUS - The oFFicial Thread

There is pretty much no reason to collect shards on the second playthrough, you'll run into enough to upgrade your 'battery' plenty, unless you play on hard maybe.

Yeah, unless you are going for trophies, I wouldn't worry about the blast shards.

The story doesn't change all that much on your evil playthrough either, there are a few moments where things take a different path but everything eventually leads to the same spot. However, I really enjoyed playing the Evil Side missions. Where as the good side missions were not all that memorable (save the Warren's defend the Police HQ with the giant Conduit), all of the Evil missions were a ton of fun. Especially once you move past the first island.

I still think it's pretty remarkable how Sucker Punch managed to create some of the most unlikable people for Cole to befriend. I mean, Zeke is an incompetent moron who can't do anything right and Trish is an irrational, overbearing succubus.

That was all very deliberate I think. With Cole they had to create a character who would be believable as both a good guy and an arsehole. What little we hear of Cole's past tells us that he wasn't exactly a boy scout, he was kind of shady. So it makes sense that his friend would be Zeke and his girlfriend would be damaged goods with a 'bad boy' complex...

Just beat Alden and got done with the second island. Such an amazing game, I just want to keep going and going and going :D

"Oh hell yes"

Trying to do all of those stunts kinda sucks at the end of the game. I'm on 17/21 so far and i have about 30-40 shards to find. That's the most annoying part....where in teh hell are those shards!?!

My PS3 died again, was in the middle of my evil run. Does anyone know if I still can get my trophys (Platinum) if I use my old savegame on a new PS3?

Yeah you just have to unlock the remaining trophies.

Just finished this game, three things:

-This game was fucking great throughout. Good job SuckerPunch. First PS3 game I've completed in a while.

-Good Cole is for pussies. Fuck the people in the city. Blowing shit up is the right thing to do

-
Anyone think the final boss's powers might be a preview of some of the powers we may get in inFamous 2 (I mean, it would make sense)? How fucking awesome would teleportation for quick movement, electric clones and fucking electric kamahame's from the chest be?

So I finally got the last stunt (Have a nice fall), had to work hard at it since I wasn't reading guides before I played the game and didn't think of the stunts until it was too late.

So, the only thing I'm anticipating being a pain in the ass now is collecting all of the shards (and healing 250 people, grind grind grind but oh well). Is finding those last couple of shards as terrible of an experience as the internets make it sound? I'm hoping they patch the game sooner than later to provide a more helpful system of tracking which shards you've collected and have yet to collect.

Wow, mine died while doing my evil playtrough too!
Evil Cole is evil.

The bus level is a bit of a challenge later on.

I think I had to restart that level 4-5 times before getting through it. I even stayed on the bus the whole time. Yes, there was some swearing at the end where they start you off at a checkpoint with the bus already "heavily damaged" or worse... but overall if that was the hardest thing in the game, then I guess I'm glad they just called it "Hard" and not "Impossible" or "Crushing".

staying on the bus makes it hard... As soon as I saw a red dot on the radar I jumped off and ran forward to take them out. Made it rather simple.

what is harder, Infamous on Hard or KZ2 on Elite? Reason I'm asking is because I struggled in the demo on Hard and found Veteran far easier on KZ2, and I want a platinum in this game.

I would say kz2 much harder in general. You don't even need to be that careful in infamous on hard, you can run around willy nilly almost ignoring large groups of enemies... a full health recharge is almost always just a few steps away and there are tons of places you can quickly get to that enemies can't follow.

KZ2 on veteran (in the later levels anyways) is harder then Infamous on hard. I didnt find hard to be that much more difficult then normal in Infamous.

Finished the game at last :D

Really fun, best money i've spent lately. It could use a few more (and better) cutscenes and a bit of work here and there but it's definitely my favorite superhero game so far.

Any news on how it's selling? Sucker Punch must start working on a secuel asap!

Regarding the mission The Price...

I am playing a Good playthrough, and opted to save the tower with the doctors and nurses thinking that would be seen as good intentions instead of being selfish and save Trish, but it was classed as an evil action? Eh?

Did you reach the top of the tower or did you shoot at the ropes? (Like I did first time assuming it was like the civilian-hanging karma moments :/)

Ahh it exploded just as i was climbing at the peak of the tower, so it looked like I'd got there, but I've reloaded the mission and got up there quicker and got the Good Intentions trophy this time.

Just finished on hard (as a badass) this weekend. Awesome game! Finale was great - loved the twisty twist.

I'm glad you can carry on and pick up stuff you missed, mess around the city, etc. but I'm having a problem.

349 blast shards...

I've checked all these punk Youtube videos showing off their last one, and I've already got all the 'fancy' hard to spot ones! Like the pier posts one that you can't ping from the shore; the one on the outside of the prison; the one at the very top of the building at ground zero...

It really bugs me knowing there's a random leftover blip somewhere out there in any of the three districts, just waiting to be L3'd.

I know it's dumb, and it's a longshot, but does anyone have any other ideas?

i'm pretty sure this has been answered before, but i can't seem to find or remember it.
in the start menu (powers, options, controls, etc) in the bottom of the screen it shows you the total of the number of stunts you just did. my question is, the description of the stunt that it shows right there, is the next one that you still haven't done?
thanks a lot in advance :)

Yes.

Got this on Saturday, here are some random thoughts:

It starts off slow for me but I think that is because I played the demo so much. It does build up nicely as you go along however.

It's really easy to get overwhelmed in shoot-outs. especially on ground level. I'd love for there to be a Mario Sunshine Fludd-like rocket jump to get me on low roofs and out of tight spots, and i have often been killed trying to scale a wall and escape from a fight. I don't want it to end up like Crackdown, because the climbing mechanic in fine in inFamous, but having a high energy cost jump (so limiting it's use) to get you up a storey or two would be really nice in a squeeze. Or maybe i should just learn to use cover better!

Once you are up on the rooftops, getting around the city is good fun :)

It is a little glitchy in places. It can look really great one minute and not so great the next. I think perhaps the blur they are using doesn't do it many favours. some of the underground sections are really nice.

Aside from me finding it a little slow at the start, overall the pacing is great. It's definitely got that "just one more go" feel to it (I was up until last last night playing) And the missions are generally all a good length.

No. I haven't found my 350th either and I could have sworn I went through every area and gotten the ones on the ocean or not on radar.

I wonder whose bright idea it was to make the Shards Blue on the minimap, so that it could be lost in all the blue waters and electricity sources.

There's a map on the internet somewhere but it'll probably be annoying and unrewarding to have to scout all the locations for the last one.

Heh, I beat the game as Good and have been doing of Evil playthough on hard.
Starting the game again, I was reminded of the thing that left the worst impression on me.

At the beginning, when you're still hobbling back from the blast, when you get to the bridge, there's a bunch of cops and a huge lightning storm comes in and things start blowing up all over the place, and cops are getting fried by lighting. But none of the NPCs even move. They all just stand there as their friends die and cars are exploding. In an in-game cutscene!

Never-the-less, my enjoyment of the later segments of the game are unaffected. However, doing all the tricks is going to be ridiculously difficult. I might have to do a third play-though, because there's just not enough enemies around to do them once you reach the end.

In the end-game, how am I supposed to knock 3 people off a roof in one hit, when there's no rooves with more than a single person on them?

leave some missions to do the end stuff, especially
dark water and street fight

I started this up last Thursday after finishing Red Faction and have really been enjoying it. I've done something like 25 story missions (I just got the
shield
power). The city really has a lot of personality and in my opinion it is the most well-realized city in an open world game since GTAIV. I am also really enjoying the story and the comic book atmosphere. The graphics, while a bit jaggy and low-res at times with some stiff animation, look good enough and there are some very impressive moments thanks to the cohesive art and city design. The pacing is great. I love how they gradually introduce new powers and ramp things up. The game starts out kind of slow and is very challenging until you start getting more and more destructive powers.

I just finished the
prison mission where you have to defend the place from the massive assault of Dustmen with their crazy golem conduits
and damn that was intense. Hopefully there are more missions like that later in the game.

There is one minor thing that kind of bugs me. What is the explanation for Cole not taking any damage from falling no matter the height? He can die from getting hit by a train, from explosions, from getting shot, etc... but he doesn't even get a scratch from falling off a 10 story building? I realize that the game would get annoying rather quickly if you could die from falling, but it just seems strange that there is seemingly no explanation as to why he doesn't take fall damage when they went out of their way to explain why he can't drive a car or swim.

Is there a way to increase your health or get Armour ? I just started the game the other day and I only did like 3 to 5 missions but I get pown3d by shotgun reapers in secs.

One of the upgrades decreases the amount of damage you take

The damage reduction is basically the same thing as a health increase. A 10% decrease to damage taken is equal to a 11% health increase. In the end, with a 30% damage decrease, you basically have 142% health.

Which is better, but you're still not Superman. Be sure to stay near electrical sources whenever possible.

If you could "fly" and jump from building to building would you sit in traffic?

If you were essentially a microwave oven plugged into the mains, would you want to go for a swim?

I guess blunt force trauma getting smacked by a train is different than landing on your feet and rolling out of it gracefully.

It would suck from a gameplay perspective if you could die from fall damage, but it just seems strange that Cole's fall damage invincibility goes unexplained when everything else seems to have an explanation. Why can he climb buildings so smoothly? Urban exploration experience. Why can't he swim or ride in cars? Electricity. etc... etc...

It doesn't detract from my enjoyment of the game in the slightest, but it was just something I found to be kind of strange.

I finally made it to the third island and the moral choice they present to you at the beginning of that island was pretty heavy. I am playing a "good guy" and I got evil points for choosing what I thought to be the good choice. I guess to truly be good you have to be a complete utilitarian. Quick question about that moral decision:
Can Trish be saved if I choose to save the doctors instead of her
?

The plot has really ramped up in the last couple of stages along with the action. The
lightning storm
power is completely awesome, too. I was able to get a x11 kill chain with it.

I have a feeling that the story is coming to a close which kind of makes me want to slow down and go do a bunch of side missions / blast shard collecting, but I am also eager to start up a new game and play evil. I am really surprised at how much I am enjoying this game. It started out slow, but once you get a couple of powers and get used to the combat it really gets addicting.

So I played through the game as evil, but now I want to go through it again as good. From a plot perspective is the game substantially different, or are the differences between good and evil primarily cosmetic and gameplay?

All I have left for my platinum is 4 shards and it's just becoming a nightmare. After hours and hours of looking I finally go to gamespot for their guide but for some reason they left out the last 20 of so shards of the historic district so it's already a waste. I grabbed a overhead picture with dots of the the shards and that isn't going any better. I have had 2 dreams now about finding a shard :(

EDIT: omfg! I just looked at the map I got and it still only shows 68 of the 75 shards, I counted them twice :( I can't believe it's this hard to get an accurate list.

I just finished this with good karma. Man what an awesome game this was... The twist ending was awesome and I totally didn't expect it. It left the game wide open for a sequel, but didn't end on a cliffhanger. Awesome!

I immediately started a new game to play through it as evil this time. I put in about an hour and I must say that it is a lot more fun to play evil. The basic lightning bolt and blast wave attacks are just a whole lot more powerful. I can't wait until I get powered up to the max as evil.

By the way, is there any benefit to playing the game on hard? Medium was challenging enough for me and I don't want to get frustrated by playing it on hard if I don't have to. I plan on going for the platinum trophy, though, so I will if I have to.

Play Hard, while doing your evil run. Its not really hard at all and an easy trophy to get. :D

There are alot of similarities but alot of differences too. The ending is completely different. The story with Trish is alot different. Parts of the story in between are different as well. Plus you get to play the good side missions which are obviously different from the evil ones. Its different enough to be interesting.

I played through first time on evil/hard. It wasn't that bad, I was far more frustrated with the likes of Dead Space, KZ2 and even Uncharted on their hardest difficulties. Got all of the trophies I could get on one playthrough, expect fucking rock hound... 3 shards left and don't have a clue where to look anymore. I'm hoping I can get those 3 shards out of the way sooner than later so I can go on my good/easy joyride to rip through the game and collect the platinum.

I've posted a few message on the sucker punch official forums suggesting a few things that they could patch into the game to improve the "last few shards mega frustration" that many of us are experiencing. Maybe GAF should do the same. Even the "upload save, get map of missing shards" feature would be a total relief as there is nothing I hate more than playing a game completely aimlessly for hours on end.

Okay. That's enough to warrant another play through. However, I am interested to see how your relationship with Trish differs, because after playing through as infamous I felt that my overall relationship with Trish was quite bizzare. I remember during the last 3rd of the game she seemed to be warming up to me, telling me that we "should have a talk." However, I realize that from a plot standpoint she can't completely cut me off, but it felt very un-cohesive and unrealistic.

Yeah, I would agree with that. The story with her seems to flow better when you are a good guy. Im not really a big Trish fan anyways. I dont think they did enough to develop her and the story with her and Cole. Plus she always came across as a bitch to me.

I'll agree with that. However, it is nice to see a a female in a video game that is actually strong willed and not a sex object.

Played through it recently as good, was a very good game overall. The visuals I found pretty good outside of lack of AA, the freedom of movement and fast combat was great in this. Loved the comic book story presentation, though the story I guessed early on for the most part. Will get sequel if one comes out.

What the story needed was a bit of a prologue. Have some scenes of them together, then he gets the delivery call, cutscene of some bike messenging, then have the 'moving' tutorial be going to ground zero before the explosion, press triangle to open when you get the call from
Kessler
, followed by the second half of the movement tutorial (handling climbing, etc) and the story then continues the same way it does in the game.

It would have underscored what happened to Cole, as well as what happened to the relationship. It would also give us a taste of
Kessler before he's introduced as the big bad.

I also would have liked a hopeless vs match against kessler when you first meet him.
