inFAMOUS - The oFFicial Thread

So I finally got around to playing this! I just killed Sasha and am in the second area.

So far I’m enjoying it! The Sasha boss fight was probably the highlight. So good! <3

So, just started playing this again a few days ago. I never played through the game as a good guy...

Holy shit. I now remember why I gave this game my 2009 GOTY. The powers, the city, Cole...this game is amazing. I'm currently collecting all the shards and attempting to get my first ever Platinum!

I feel like such a jackass with a printed out Shard location map..

I'm 349/350 on good and started a new playthrough with Evil, worst bronze trophy ever.

I just started playign this one as well, I wish they gave me an option on the difficulty at teh beginning, so I could get those trophies easier. I'm having fun with it so far, but gettign all the blast shards just sounds like SOOO much work!

Just finished the game. I thought the story/comic sections were rushed. I wished they took more time with them. Overall it was a cool idea.

Gameplay was excellent. Loved every minute of it. Can't wait until the sequal comes out. Hopefully we start out with all of Cole's powers.

Oh, and Zeke is
the single worse character I've had to witness all year. He just plain ol' sucks.

I'm pretty sure Sucker Punch confirmed that all of Cole's powers will carry over to the beginning of inFAMOUS 2. I think they confirmed it at E3.

Sounds great. I could go with leveling them up again.

I wonder if they'll pull a GOW III and make Cole lose his powers to gain them back.

Sorry to bump, I'm thinking of getting this game (just got a PS3), and wondering, is there any difference between the retail and PSN versions of the game?

Not that I know of you should be good to go :D

I just picked up the original physical disc at Gamestop for $20 used. I like having the physical media. That seems like the only difference to me besides having to update it when you get the game home. I imagine when you buy the PSN version it's already the latest one with no updates required.

Glad this got bumped cause I'm getting this either last this week or early week :D (waiting for the delivery).

Only heard good things about this game, except the Shards :lol

aarrgh!

Sold the disc version, now am trying to download it from PSN

I have just over 10gbs of free space on my harddrive and its telling my there isnt enough space....the game is just 7056mb right?

some one please help me here

You don't have enough room to download the 7GB, install another ~7GB, and then delete the installer.

I'm getting this game too.I just want to know if the frame rate is still as bad as it was in the demo.

I would never call the framerate "bad" but it's mostly at 30 and occasionally jumps to 60 in certain areas. For all intents and purposes it's a 30fps game though.

I didn't really answer your question, but as far as I can recall, the retail game performs the same as the demo.

Nice seeing this thread up on the front page. Played quite a bit last weekend even though I've already platinumed it last fall. I went to my older good guy save on normal and started clearing up the city, finding shards and performing stunts. I forgot what a pain it was to perform some of those. With maxed powers, blowing an enemy's grenade back at them is REALLY hard. And stupid me, I cleared out the city already and am left with the "take out a conduit with a thunder drop" as the last stunt move. I don't see conduits anymore =/.

After all of my bitching about nu-Cole, I just want the sequel already. I'd prefer the old look mainly because of continuity but fuck just give it to me NOW heh.

In one of the parks (I think it was in the Neon) there's should be one that still spawns.

Does anyone think that the evil powers are actually stronger?

I've completed it with a good ending now replaying it being evil.

Maybe the evil powers just suit my play style better *shrug*

I think they're more powerful because you're not worrying about civilians. The good guy powerrs seem to focus on accuracy and precision which targets a close group where as the bad guy stuff spreads out and kills anything in its path.

Nice. There was one of those giant trash monsters that spawned near one of the piers but no matter how many times I tried thunderdropping, no kill.

The main reason I want to play it is to platinum the game

I need the stunt master trophy......got frustrated and quit last year :D

1 trophy to achieve platinum

I didn't really play the demo( don't like demos),I just heard that it was bad when the demo was released. But if it doesn't go below 30,then I'm good.Thnx.

I need help. I'm down to the end, and I'm trying to claim the last bit of territory before I do the last mission. This is how the map looks.

2v19js8.jpg

But no side missions are showing. and I'm almost 100% I have the 3 hidden package missions for Historic too.

wtf?

Also, I've gone to all 5 Dead Drops and yet I don't have the Trophy. Unless one of them isn't active yet?

It's been a while, but I think that bit of territory is either related to the last mission, or you need to kill an enemy in this area to trigger a side mission (most likely). As for the dead drops, you must have missed one, because they're always active since you can discover them in order and hear the right audio.

Alright, I've been playing this game a little the past couple weeks. I need 5 more stunts unlocked, however, I'm never given the opportunity for one of them.

"Blast 3 enemies off a roof simultaneously" There are never three guys in the same place at teh same time. The 1 time I thought I had done it, they guys didn't die, so I didn't get credit...How, Where? WTF!

There are some stunts (including that one) that are better done early on in the game, and you're actually better off doing all of them on the first island (except those requiring a power unlocked later on, of course). That specific stunt can be done on one precise mission if I remember correctly, hopefully you haven't completed it yet. Just look it up, there's info all over the net.

I've been trying since the 1st island, I'm 30% done the third now, so I must be screwed... WTF.

I think I used this guide, which has written descriptions and a video, but yeah, if you've done all side missions, it's going to be tough, but there's always a second playthrough, as some stunts are easier done with the Good or Evil powers :D

Did you ever figure it out, Why For? I just came here to ask the same question, but clearly there's at least one more zone for me to complete (based on your map).

I've now used two different maps (crossing off as I went) yet I'm still stuck at 349 shards. :(

Made sure to get the one that is way out into the ocean on a pylon? That's the one I missed at first. Also, there are 2-3 that do not apear on the ping radar sometimes. There is a thread on ps3trophies that says which ones are the bugged ones.

After having the game since launch I bought the PSN version and started playing it. The game has some control issues with Cole sticking to objects like cellophane sticks to your fingers. I've died more than a few times because he just wouldn't let go no matter how many times I pushed X to jump away or Circle to drop down.

That's another issue I have with the game: you get shot and killed very easily. You can see the bullets coming in from off-screen but nothing shows up on your map so you can't go and kill the bastards. I understand that the game probably wants you to not attack head-on but when the enemies can somehow hit you from any angle, even when you're hanging off the side of a building and they're a couple hundred yards away and shouldn't even be able to see you, there are issues. The hand-to-hand combat is also a little wonky as the enemies can somehow run backwards (and shoot like a damn sniper) faster than you can fun forwards.

Overall though the game is enjoyable though. I just need to get my last few stunts and I'll have my platinum.

Finally got my Platinum for this.

I did it in a rather hardcore way. Basically, I rushed through the campaign and did all the side missions but needed to get the last bolt upgrade to get the last evil power to get a trophy.

I'd already done all the missions and side missions so I had to grind up XP all the way from 6000 to 12,000 XP using only random enemies that appear in places, draining enemies and helping pedestrians get back on their feet.

I thoroughly deserve that Platinum.

*sighs* Okay, I just finished this game. I bought it off the PSN several months back, started it, but got bored and just now decided to finish it after playing through Prototype.

If I remember correctly, there was some drama over the two games on which was the better open world game and such. I'll just give some of my opinions on Infamous in comparison to Prototype:

Rants:

1. Fuck the controls. Aiming at those little flying robots at the end of the game is so god damn awful. Everything felt so sluggish to me.

2. The enemies are bigger bullet sponges then the original Uncharted. At the end of the game it takes forever to kill them even with zooming in to snipe them and such.

3. I'm not a fan of most of the missions. Many are really irritating. I spent a lot of time cussing at this game.

4. Fuck Cole, your fingers are stickier then spiderman, dude. Fucking stop attaching yourself to every god damn surface you come across.

5. Cole can summon mother fucking lightning bolts and blow shit up, but he can't go past a chain link fence. What the fuck?

6. The camera angles really suck sometimes. I go to jump on a line or a pole, but Cole just ends up missing and falling to his death or I have to climb back up the building. It's difficult to figure out how close he is to something at times.

7. The AI is really annoying. Like, this was some of the most punishing AI I've ever faced.

8. I never really felt powerful at all in the game until I got lightning storm, and while that was great, it was still a bit limited in its use. Coming back to Infamous from Prototype, Cole felt like a little bitch in comparison. He ran slow, he climbed slow, his powers weren't nearly as devastating, and he has the worst side kick in history. Damn fat Elvis wannabe retard.

Likes:

1. The game looked fabulous. Protoype's graphics were kinda meh, but in comparison Infamous is ahead by leaps and bounds. A lot more detail.

2. Story was a lot better. I felt bad for Cole as he continually got fucked over. I was indifferent to Alex in Prototype.

3. I mentioned lightning storm earlier, but not how much I liked it. It felt good to finally see a group of enemies and just go "fuck off" and annihilate them.

4. The boss battles were challenging and more fun then Prototype as they required you to think a bit. In comparison, Prototype's AI was stupid, and most of them had unblockable attacks which was irritating.

5. Infamous's world was really fun to explore, but I missed being able to hijack a helicopter and fly around. I really would've liked if he could levitate or something to get around as by the end of the game I was getting rather tired of running everywhere (slowly) or trying to track down power lines.

6. The characters were a lot better. I was actually shocked a bit by the way the end of the game played out too. Really didn't see that coming.

7. Check points. The game was very forgiving if you died and it made certain missions a lot more bearable because if you made a mistake you could go "Oh, shit, so THAT'S how you do it." and then just pick up at the spot you died rather then having to go through this entire long ass mission again. I'm really not down with punishing gamers for making a mistake, and I'm glad that they're on board with this idea too.

Overall:

It was an enjoyable game. Definitely had its moments, and I will pick up the 2nd one, but there's really a lot that can be improved upon gameplay-wise. I hope they improve the melee attacks and make them not suck, and I really hope that climbing and exploring isn't such a huger clusterfuck. Some improvements on the control side as well would be appreciated. And Cole needs better and more substantial powers. He's supposed to be this guy with nearly infinite power that nobody can fuck with, but you really don't feel that at all when you're getting your ass kicked by AI 300 meters away shooting you from the top of some obscure building.

I'd say that my fun factor with Prototype was definitely greater overall then Infamous. I had frustrations with both, but while the story is lacking in Prototype, and the characters are meh, the gameplay is fucking crazy and much more fun - and you can just plow through people and objects to get where you need to go - not to mention climbing buildings with little effort and practically being able to fly. I just had a damn good time with that game.

I'd like to see a video of you playing, because that particular power was icing on the formidable cake of death that was Cole, good or evil. You should be basically be unstoppable about 75% of the way through.

I often find that people liked whatever game they played first more.
I thought Prototype was some bland basura.

I spent far too much time draining electricity. I was constantly afraid to use any of the big attacks due to the fact that I'd run out of electricity so fast. Granted, I didn't get the majority of the memory cores. I just couldn't be assed to run around the map collecting them (I hate that shit in games). It's like you were punished if you didn't print out a map, grab a compass and tap into a government satellite to track that shit down.

I admit I'm not the best player, but I played it on easy because of this and it was still pretty fucking hard.

I was on vacation last week and Infamous was on the top of the backlog. I just finished it 10 minutes ago and regret that I took so long to play this game. The story was very well done and the graphics were also pretty good. My only gripe is that after finishing Assassins Creed: Brotherhood any other game with a free run mechanic is just poor. I do realize that Infamous is two years old I hope the sequel fixes the little stutter animation that happens when Cole attempts to grab rails and building edges.

Started this earlier today (finally), and I'm digging it alot. Played a bunch of hours, and I'll play more after Chuck is done.

But boy, this game is ugly. Terrible textures and jaggies are killing me. Not a big deal at all, but it's there for me. It's not looking anything like the screens in the OP at all.
