A new documentary on Wolfenstein may hint at the future of the series from MachineGames.

Wolfenstein Reboot "Is a Trilogy", Says Series Director

In the Wolfenstein documentary, done by Noclip, it details the history of the iconic Nazi-killing series. Going over the reboot series, consisting of The New Order and The New Colossus, various facts and details emerged. Perhaps the most notable is at the end, at 41:16, where director Jerk Gustaffson mentions the future of the series. He states:

"I think this is important to say, because we have always seen this as a trilogy," says Gustaffson in the documentary. "So that journey, for B.J., even during those first weeks at id when we mapped out New Order, we still had the plan for, at least, that character; What will happen in the second one, what will happen in the third one. I think that's important to say, because – at least, I hope – that we're not done with Wolfenstein yet. We have a story to tell."

As of now, there has been no official announcement of Wolfenstein 3. There was a tease at the end of Wolfenstein: Youngblood, which starred B.J.'s daughters, but that's it. However, now that the studio's last project, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, is out, perhaps it's time for B.J. to make his return.

Can't come soon enough. I slept on the Wolfenstein games for a long while, and didn't realize what I was missing out on. Love the first 2 and expansion, didn't like Youngblood too much. Can't wait to see what MachineGames does for part 3.

I don't have high hopes, New Order and Old Blood were good, but then Machine Games released Youngblood (solid contender for the most unlikeable main characters) and Wolf 2 (uninstalled in the first 5 minutes).

It sounds more like "we would like to do something, but we aren't doing anything with Wolfenstein now" type of thing, but hey, it's better than complete silence

If they're gonna do it though, I do hope it will be closer to the first game. As others have said, Wolf 2 was a bit underwhelming (although it had it moments). And Youngblood... Well, the least is said about that game, the better

Strangely, I enjoyed Youngblood more than Wolfenstein 2. For some reason I didn't find it as woke as Wolf 2. Or maybe my expectations was in check by the time. I never forget that cringe scene when BJ talks something about white asses while being white himself…

Pretty apt description.

W1 >> W1 DLC >>>> W2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> YB

Amazing they crashed and burned the series in almost record time.
