[Kotaku] Wolfenstein 3 is in development at MachineGames

Didn't like the attempt at character driven Tarantino/Rodriguez-film vibes at all, go back to the pulpy macho no drama nazi killing and there's no way not to love it.

Is Wolf 2 really that bad or is it ones of those "antiwoke" hardons that people here seem to get from time to time?
Def the latter. Game had one of the most interesting set of main characters. A literal retard who can only say Max Has, a pregnant woman shooting enemies with her tits out. A love-able conspiracy theorist and an extremely obese and stereotypical ex-nazi women that falls in love with a black guy.

I guess there's one sassy black woman but I personally really liked her too as she never went overboard.

The actual gameplay was a minor step down at most.

Don't play youngbloods or whatever it's called though. That shit is straight ass

the latter.

it wasn't as good as the first one, but mainly people hate on it for being "woke"

That game was woke for some people? I don't think at all, it didn't take itself serious at all. Liked it but not as much as the first.

Now busy with Indy but can't get into it yet. Hopefully it picks up. They should have made it third person because this doesn't work for me in these sort of games.

"I'm on the mother fucking moon"

I really enjoyed the first MG Wolf outing, along with its DLC. They did a great job giving BJ some character, whilst keeping him likable. Unlike in new DOOM trilogy where every cutscene made me dislike the games even more.

Wolf 2 disappointed me, so I never bothered with Young Bloods.

For the new game, give me a cryogenically frozen BJ who gets defrosted in the future by Doom Guy. They team up, but also fight eachother throughout.

IIRC the new ones were always planned as trilogy. I liked both the first one and New Colossus. Never played Youngblood and from the comments here I guess I haven't missed out.

Less cutscene heavy, more pulpy and less gritty drama or cringey comedy. Blazkowicz as the main and only playable character, and just as a badass one man army a la 80's/90's action movie. Less interruption to talk about "feelings", preaching or autohumilliation and more badass shooting. Oh, and don't try to be a Doom Eternal clone (I'm not a hater, I liked it, I replayed it the last year).

And yes, I think Return to Castle Wolfenstein is by far the best entry.

Was Wolfenstein II still good? I'm not sure when the reboot actually went down the tubes.

With the new colossus so no IMO. If you're on controller, aiming doesn't feel right. There might be more cutscenes in this game than playtime. There was a slight sense of groundedness or camp in Wolf 1 and The Old Blood. The New Colossus also comes across as obscenely hard at times for absolutely no reason. Levels feel kinda small by comparison to previous games. Monster closets. No bueno man

Trilogy, I assume this means we can pretend Young Blood never happened

Thats Good Donald Glover GIF

The weapon swap mechanic was interesting in the second one although the implementation was clunky.

They could have really utilised it more as a game mechanic designing weapons and enemies around the dual wielding.

I guess they kind of did though in the coop game but again the implementation was poor.

Worse than the previous games when it comes to pacing and I remember the ending feeling quite rushed.

But the shooting's great and the game's still very fun to play.

Finally. I loved both Wolfenstein 1 and 2.

Youngblood on the other hand.. I have no idea what they were thinking with that one. Absolutely horrendous entry.

Hopefully they keep this closer to the other numbered entries, otherwise I'm not interested.

TNC still remains the most tonally inconsistent game I've played, tried to be both a serious insight into the horrors of war and a zany OTT homage to 50's b-movies, thereby failing at both.

Wolf 3d needs to be a light-hearted homage to 50s B-movies and Nazi exploitation films like Ilsa the She-Wolf of the SS. Just crazy zany shit.

When it takes itself too seriously, becomes woke, or tries to teach a lesson, it fails as a game.

I have zero faith that MachineGames can make a decent Wolf3d that isn't for the "modern audience."

I actually liked W2, i think the combat was good and the bits about BJ past was interesting, replayed it not so long ago on XSX and it holds pretty good.

I never cared for any of the Machine Games Wolfenstein games.
The same.

I loved Return to Castle Wolfenstein because of its perfect blend of a realistic art style and sci-fi / fantasy elements. Also combat was fun. Many of the missions felt similar to those in Medal of Honor or Call of Duty. The atmosphere was dark and clearly intended for a mature audience.

However, the last two Wolfenstein games didn't look or feel the same to me anymore. The art direction was unrealistic, and the atmosphere changed from dark to comedic. RTCW felt like a game made for adults, while the last two games felt like games made for a younger audience.
