Yup, Canada is very racist. Here on the Westcoast if you ask most people what they think of Richmond you generally get a nasty response. Same goes for most parts of Surrey.

Well, yeah. If someone tries to kill me because I'm an American, and another guy tries to kill me because I beat him at a dance-off, I'd want them to face the same punishment. Why they hate me isn't important to me. Haters gonna hate. But if they act on it, THAT should be punished.

it's a matter of hate crimes and terrorism being attacks on the community at large, which is separate from the crime itself. intent is the factor in that type of classification.
