Today I was introduced to FaceBook.com. Sure, I'd heard of it before, but I'd managed to remain woefully ignorant of the site until it was (literally) brought up in class today. After I got past my inital disbelief at the fact people have no problem listing their address, telephone number, bra size, etc. right next to a picture of themselves, my attention was then focused on the "Poke him/her" link listed underneath pictures.
Foolishly, I made a point of this to the class and was barraged with responses, some of which included the phrases "Internet STDs" and "Well, we know who doesn't live on fifth street."
Utterly clueless, I tried to save face by making a stab at LiveJournal, but it appears as if mocking LiveJournal has become passe.
I don't know if I'm thrilled or frightened by this phenomenon, but I do know that being elitist never felt so satisfying. Did GAF let me down, or am I under its divine protection?
