There are levels of this that will probably work really well (tracking your blood pressure and getting good recs for lowering it) and then there are levels of this that will go DISASTEROUSLY wrong (anything mental health, monitoring more complex labs like blood cell counts).

Something that integrates into google glass and scans your food plate and says "you sure you wanna eat all that junk, you fattie?" would go a loooooong way towards helping the nation though.

I have my reservations about sharing medical data, but the AI system itself seems genuinely impressive. I can definitely see this having broad use cases.

It's Facebook all over again. Give us all your personal info because we need to figure out a way to monetize this beast and selling your data has proven to work before.

HIPAA regulations in this case

I haven't looked too deep into this, but I presume that people's DNA would fall under the same privacy guidelines.

Yet after 23 and me went belly up personal data was all good for making money.

I don't trust established businesses, regulations and law or not, and I trust start ups that are seeking ways to monetize their product even less.

But of course people won't take this advice seriously

This could be a shitstorm only 'cause people are dumb

My wife tried this out this morning to ask it about a doctor's appointment she has tomorrow re: arthritis in her hands. She's also quite snarky (like me). Also like me, she fucking has hands.

I don't think this is exactly ready for prime time.

Butt is itchy. What do?
An itchy butt is very common. Most of the time it's something minor. Here's a practical, step-by-step way to handle it.

Most common causes

  • Moisture or sweat (especially after exercise or heat)
  • Residual stool after wiping
  • Irritation from rough toilet paper, wet wipes, or scented soaps
  • Hemorrhoids
  • Fungal rash (common if it's itchy + slightly red and worse with sweat)
  • Pinworms (mainly intense itching at night)

What to do

  1. Clean gently
    • Use water (bidet, shower, or damp paper).
    • Avoid scented wipes or soaps.
  2. Dry completely
    • Pat dry with a towel or paper.
    • Moisture = itching.
  3. Apply a barrier
    • Use petroleum jelly or zinc oxide cream (diaper rash cream works).
    • This protects skin and reduces irritation.

If itching continues

Try based on symptoms:

  • Red, slightly burning, worse with sweat
Use an antifungal cream (clotrimazole 1%) twice daily for 1–2 weeks.
  • Swollen, painful, or bleeding
Likely hemorrhoids → hemorrhoid cream + avoid straining.
  • Mostly at night, very intense
Possible pinworms → see a doctor (simple treatment).

Things to avoid

  • Scratching (makes it worse long-term)
  • Alcohol wipes
  • Menthol or strong "cooling" creams
  • Overwashing

See a doctor if:

  • It lasts more than 1–2 weeks
  • There's bleeding, pain, discharge
  • You see skin cracks, white patches, or sores
  • It keeps coming back despite treatment
If you want, tell me:

  • Is it worse at night?
  • Any redness, pain, or bleeding?
  • Recent sweating, diarrhea, or new products?
That helps narrow it down fast.

Not gonna lie, I used chatgpt for some basic health advices such as skin care for my dermatitis and it has given me some useful advices. That being said, you guys should always check in with your doctor before anything else.

We know why she has arthritis. Cooking and cleaning.

Designed to help you navigate medical care, not replace it
Oh, I'm sure people will understand this and their actual doctors absolutely won't have a hell of a time convincing them the imp in their cellphone got a few things wrong there.

Open a thread on GAF and ask for advice, of course. Tried and true method that helped dozens of people deal with strokes, heart attacks and badly cut limbs through the years.

Certified Gen Z snark is exactly what you need from a health advisor!

This reminds me how a multi-million image detection software routinely failed to spot cancer cells on an MRI scans that an intern was able to do with close to flawless accuracy.

People still don't understand that we probably need a bit less tech, not more.

You've got to be fucking joking. I thought everyone was scrambling to make sure people DIDN'T take medical advice from AI.

I get data breach notifications at least once a month from health care providers here in the US. Might as well get some actual use out of the data, everyone else already has it.

AI diagnosed my wife's condition before doctors could months later.
Hell fucking yeah man. That's great. AI is actually helping in the medical field already much more than many realize. Hopefully AI catching that earlier has helped her get the treatment she needs. I hope she is doing well.
