I was using my phone to tether 3G to my computer.

I downloaded the GM from a place with wifi and came to install it on my phone. Completely messed up because you need an internet connection to install it. Went without my phone for two days. No alarm, no calls, no internet and plenty of other affected parts of my life. Need to rely less on my phone.
 
I can no longer download from any of apple servers, AppleTV update, iPhone update, App store, Mac App Store, Software update nothing...

i know you can disable them, i would like more apps to support it, like my other weather apps, maybe AP/other news apps (headlines scrolling), etc. i guess in time.

I just turned the phone on and then off and it is newsstand is now WORKING.

Does anyone know how to make my current calendars "on my mac" sync to iCloud?
 
Wow! iPhone 3GS update went without a hitch, but my iPad is throwing fits. Keep erroring out during the back-up process, despite the fact that I backed up the darn thing multiple times in the past two days in anticipation of this.

Are you kidding me apple, I spent the last two hours scowering the internet to find a damn fix to the update....and all I had to do was move the usb connect to the other one..


Damn I feel stupid...
Crisis adverted, although now I have nothing on my phone THANKS FOR BREAKING ITUNES UPDATE.


Update: nope still gave me an error half-way through updating...
 
Rebooted and updated, and the backing up is going at a crawl. I'm expecting an error anytime now. Will give up.


Edit: is there no way of telling it "DON'T BACK UP BITCH, I DID THAT AN HOUR AGO"?

ok, so maybe it is the servers cause, I watched the process carefully now, it breaks down when it tries to verify with apple.
 
I rarely sync my iPad 2, but I thought I'd better do it before updating to iOS5. So it did this enormous backup sequence, followed by a transfer of a bunch of new apps. Now I'm installing iOS5, and it's backing up AGAIN.

It's taking aaages... will this be writing over the previous backup it just did with my last sync, or am I just filling my hard drive with two sets of bullshit?

What part of 'newsstand is a folder' don't you understand? This has been bitched about so much already. Can you place a folder inside another folder? NO.

I did that and still failed twice after.

Friend just texted to say he has the same problem. I think it's a server problem in the UK (region specific?). That's my guess.

It means that there's a ton of 3rd party app updates today- as you know, the appstore is on apple's servers also.

iPhoto is an update. But it's close to 800MB.

I've had iOS 5 on my iPhone 4 for several days now, and occasionally I get that message. It's working fine right now though.
 
Yeah, the backup is still going incredibly slow plugged into a different USB port. I'mma give it 5 more minutes, otherwise I'll just try in the evening.


I'm in Canada, by the way.
 
i was at first wowed and then 'oh lame' by imessages.

why can't this just sms someone if they are not an imessage person. Why cant it just email them if they're not an imessage person.

I can't tell who is and who isn't until there is a big red thing on my contact. it's silly.
 
I wouldn't be that frustrated if I could at least go back to 4.3.5, but I can't even do that at this point.. if it fails again , I am stuck at that stupid Itunes logo screen..

And it fails again *Slams head against wall*

iPhone update worked flawlessly although it deleted all my music which kind of makes me mad since I have to sync it all over again when I get home.
 
well my music library is a little bit screwed up... don't think it is the update... As I keep getting the error issues... Why do I have so many duplicate tracks? is there a way I can resolve this?

Connect to itunes, check wireless sync option, then sync at least once while still connected. You should now be able to disconnect and sync wirelessly when connected to power source.

No - those apps are not part of the default iPad app set. Currently the iPad doesn't have any notification tray widgets.

It should work the same as on the iPhone - notifications stack in chronological order on the lock screen until you've unlocked the device.
