Update your iTunes first.
I downloaded the update last night in preparation for today... I have 10.5.0.142 installed (Win 7), is that the latest version?

Edit: It's working now. I pressed Check for Updates, it told me I had the latest version of iTunes, then prompted me for the iOS 5 update.

How do I put the camera on the lock screen like the Apple video promised? I want to be able to quickly take photos of crazy people on the bus!!

Google is my friend lol.

This is too much shit all at once, i think i've sorted most of it. Wi-fi sync mostly doesnt work, it'll work every know and then but then just says 'looking for iphone' in itunes then dissapears from the sidebar, im thinking thats a network issue though as im having to use internet sharing on my mini.

Facetime and imessage wont activate, i dont know if that has something to do with your carrier? And finally the app store has crashed a few times but opens on the second attempt.

I tried the photostream and adding events to calenders and they show up on my macbook right away, that's the neatest thing so far.

Double tap the home button.

My iMac found my iPhone wirelessly the moment I walked in. Neat to know I don't have to necessarily to plug it into power to get the computer to recognize it.

I upgraded an iPhone with no problems. When I tried to upgrade my iPad it gave me an error. I had to restart my iPad but after that everything worked fine.

I'm trying to update to 5 but part way through backing up, a error keeps popping up saying network connection problem? Anyone having this issue?

I spent the better part of the day trying to update and so far it just ain't happening. Either the backup fails early on, or just at the last possible moment (error 3713), or it gives me the option to skip the backup which then leads to a server busy error. It doesn't help that the backup process seems to take hours as I seemingly don't have a USB 2.0 port on this pc or I know of no way to check if I do.

Restart computer with ios device connected?

Yeah. I kept getting an error claiming that my phone wasn't able to restore. It was stuck on the connect to iTunes screen. I tried a few more times but it didn't help, so I restarted my computer with the device still attached. When osx booted back up I opened iTunes and tried again. Fixed.

AirPlay Mirroring is generally great, except for any games that requires fast action. Real Racing 2 is a technical masterpiece for the iOS platform, but the lag between the iPad and the Apple TV is a bit too much for this style of game.

That being said, this technology could work well for RPGs, point-n-click adventures, logic puzzle games, etc.

nevermind

I get the same error. I am trying on XP now so we'll see.

It's doing....something now. My iPad is showing a progress bar, I think that's good. I restarted my pc and installed all pending Windows 7 updates, but even so I still had a few errors along the way.

Anyone else have all there folders go to shit? Damn... luckily I has taken screepcaps of my folder arrangement before, or else I would have lost it.

Didn't know you could double tap home for the camera access from sleep, thought you had to press the lock button then double tap. Pretty cool.

About the newsstand, just put it on a separate page all alone; problem solved.

So, very much like the new notifications, but they're not all the way there. We need some kind of notification icon in the menu bar.

Update was pain free for me... I was already on beta 7 so I just downloaded the image and restored. Took about 10 minutes all up.

Yep, and I would like an led notification light or something. Either way, I am glad I finally have something after all these years.

If you jailbreak, you can get unique icons in the menu bar to tell what apps have new notifications. I kinda miss that being unjailbroken right now.

Fuck. I had to restore my phone and now /all/ of my settings have been wiped.

It's asking me details like what language do I want, my WiFi security key etc...

x_x

Finally figured out why photo stream wasn't showing up on my Mac, needed to connect it to the correct iCloud account. Works great now!

I wish I could say the same for iCal on my iMac, since I have a zillion events on there.

Thinking I'm gonna switch off the majority of these inane notifications.

Downloading the OS X update now. Hopefully it fixes my ongoing iMac Wi-Fi issues.

Ran into an interesting conundrum. Trying to sign into "Find my Friends", it tells me to go to appleid.apple.com to verify my Apple ID.

Here's the problem--I don't have access to the email account that matches my Apple ID. It was an old .mac account from when I bought my first mac years and years ago, and it's long since expired.

So I guess I'll need to change my Apple ID's email in order to be able to use Find My Friends, which is a bit weird because nothing else has ever asked me to verify my email.

I will have to, but it's like....Apple really missed the point here. They fixed the AWFULNESS of modal notifications, but didn't address the practical functionality gap of not knowing what's going on immediately without having to pull down the drawer. Anyway, mostly fixed.

iMessage is fucked up for me right now.

I don't understand why we are all having these problems ... Why is it that Apple has to make everything so difficult. I love my iOS but upgrading should be very easy. How am I gonna explain iCloud to my family. We share an account ugh

I ran into a similar problem years ago. My .mac expired but my iTunes and AppleID used its e-mail as a login, so even though my contact e-mail is different, my actual AppleID is still my .mac account name. Awkward to remember sometimes.

Okay I seem to have iOS 5 now, but it reverted my iPad to factory settings in the process.

Working awesome for me. Sends videos and photos, group chat works excellent, texts are super fast. Currently chatting with 4 friends from around town and across the country no problem.

Here's what I'm not sure how to fix.

I have

A gmail-linked Apple ID
A Me.com address/MobileMe

And now I want iCloud? How should I take advantage of this? Should I find a way to merge accounts?

So you guys recommend dling it later tonight (it's 5:50, Vancouver). Or should I wait till tomorrow

I don't wanna fuck up my devices somehow
