Nope, refuses to work for me.. I'm getting the /O (if you will) icon when I try to drag in.

Where are you putting it in? See if "Manually manage music and videos" is checked under your iPod summary.

Just did the iCloud update on my Mini and I'm so lost. Upon start up it asked me to delete my iCal, Mail and my contacts. I thought it was going to lead me through it, but now I'm on the iCloud menu and if I click email it wants to set up an @me email address. I don't need another email address...so confused. What do I need to do to get this to work with my Google calendar and gmail? Will it even do that? It's like it's not playing well with anything I have tied to google stuff like iChat, Mail and iCal.

really lovin iOS 5 on my iPhone 4. makes the wait for the iPhone 5 more bearable. all the new features plus responsiveness are wonderful - my phone feels new after doing a full restore.

Wow. I am already at 4.5GB of my 5GB limit on the first iCloud backup. What the hell is taking all that space. It isnt backing up my videos or music since they were not bought on iTunes. Is it the Documents and Data? WTF is in there? When I uncheck it it says it will remove all the files from my computer. WTF?

So if I buy iPhoto 11 for my old MBP running Snow Leopard would be a waste of money?

iPhoto 11 on lion is a necessity that I endure begrudgingly.

iPhoto 11 on snow leopard should be avoided. Doesn't really add anything and takes away tons of keyboard shortcuts that i used daily (escape to go back).

I wouldn't install it unless you plan to move to lion.

Anyone else's iPhone music libraries get all fucked? A lot of my artists seem to be out of order or not categorized correctly. For example, Arcade Fire shows up under "A" but again shows up under "B". Eminem shows up under "F" and Franz Ferdinand shows up under "G"...

Also, I can't sync any new music and I guess my iCloud verification email is in limbo with a lot of other people's. Not a great start for iOS5.

Edit: My phone thinks these Artists should be under "G"

Edit 2: Seems to have fixed itself by removing all the songs from my music library, then re-adding them and resyncing them. *crosses fingers*

My music is messed up. Albums that have multiple artists are all messed up for me now.

OH LAWD!!!!!!!!!

They FINALLY fixed the issue with landscape texting! Now I can actually move the keyboard down the screen to see more texts..before I would have to use "Edit" to see the text. On landscape the keyboard just took up so much screen real estate that you can only see one text at a time. It was the worse feature ever, and enough to make me dread text convos.

God, iOS just keeps getting refined. Chiseled. I love it.

And I only really need a weather widget, so this is perfect.

Still getting the "The iPhone could not be synced because the sync session failed to finish" error. Tried the "uncheck photos" trick but no luck. Really frustrating. Can't get my music/podcasts to move over. The sync will make a backup, go through the motions, but when it comes to moving over photos/music, it seemingly skips that step, goes to the last one, then errors out.

Books? Contents of another reader app like GoodReader/CloudReader?

Is it normal for the update progress to ask to setup your phone again?
It scared the shit out of me when it happened to me.

Now currently busy with putting back a backup from yesterday.
I'm glad I was smart enough to make a backup before even updating to iOS5.

Hopefully my restore will work.

Yes, its normal. Weird thing is, I was using my phone while my computer was syncing my apps. I was freaked out, then I read that you can now use the phone while its syncing.

GOOD LAWD!

Just got down installing new update and everything is working perfectly fine

Only trouble I had was downloading the damn thing which took 4 hours for some reason

Posting from my 3G touch. Install went smooth and everything is up and running fine. I don't notice any major differences but this has to be a good thing as everything works. Not the mind altering update I've seen hyped across the web.

Seriously?!
Best new feature ever!

I always hate that I can't use my phone while syncing.
I've accidentally canceled numerous syncs because I forgot that.

Edit:
how many backups do you have to restore?!
I'm at number 3 or so?

ok so would i need to backup all my music on iphone, if i plan to update to 5.0 from another computer? If so how do i back up all the music onto this laptop?

Pretty much this for me as well. I don't know what to do with it. icloud is worthless, it doesn't do anything as I have all my google stuff already on there which is essentially 'icloud' already.

imessage is goofy, because there is no way to know who actually has that thing until there is a red exclamation point telling you they dont. why in the world doesn't it just offload to sms/email as needed?

the dictionary is a dictionary.

notifications are much better.

Ah hah

just tried out some iCloud functionality

I took a photo on my iPod Touch 4g, and seconds later the photo was deposited on my computer in the specificed download folder I made for it using my iCloud control panel on Windows

Then uploaded photos from computer to iCloud wifi, it showed up on my iPod Touch4g

Neato!

Who's using the iCloud, I'm wondering if I should?

Over the past week I have been slowly adding checking off the things that I use it for. I am down to everything except calendar (using google for that).

It's nice because if I bookmark something on my phone it's instantly on my iPad and Mac as well.

I don't really care but when I (finally) got ios5 installed on my iPhone 3GS it deleted all my apps (except for neogaf oddly enough). Is there anyway to get those apps back or do i have to redownload everything?

You can't mix iCloud and Google Sync or Exchange. It's either or. Which means I won't be using iCloud for Contact, mail, or calendar.

My iphone backup alone is also taking up 4gb of my 5. I wish there was some clear way to see what that all is exactly...

There is in the iCloud settings.

Settings->iCloud->Storage & Backup->Manage Storage->Your Phone

Searches neogaf app....

Whatcha talkin bout fool?

I tried downloading iOS 5 on my Verizon iPhone 4. When prompted to give my Verizon info to activate, an error occurred and iTunes said I have to contact Verizon customer service and my iPhone is now in the process of restoring.

a) I had no idea I could even text in landscape, so I guess that's cool

b) I just tried it, and even though you can now (apparently that wasn't the case before? lol gross), the keyboard's still taking up so much room as you write. Is landscape writing actually popular on the iphone? I can't do it. I always type in all apps (texts, Pages, anything) in 'portrait'/vertical mode, either 1 or 2-handed

I cant do it. Even me, with pretty small hands, touch wrong letters. Accidentally touching "return/enter" instead of a letter, causing weird spacing issues, and it just feels weird. Typing in landscape has always been more natural to me. To each their own, but I avoided typing in landscape since it never let you see more than 1 text at a time. Now, OMG IM TEXTING ALL THE TIME.

Cool. I still only see about two lines worth of text at a time unless I drag the keyboard down. So before, it didn't let you even do that? You had to sort of...leave and come back into the app or conversation to get rid of the keyboard and see the whole convo again? Brutal :(

edit-

Oh god, I just did the scroll down and dismiss the keyboard thing even while texting in a vertical orientation. It's so natural and...perfect. lol. Wow. I...already don't know how I was okay without this. Hahahaha.

When I popped my head into the Lion thread just last week, all I saw were complaints about bugs, errors, incompatibility problems and many newcomers declaring they'd wait till the first major update corrected everything....

You'll get that online bitching about every OS, ever. I could never go back to SL. Just got used the the tweaks and slickness of Lion. I haven't encountered a single major issue in 10.7, 7.1, or 7.2.

I see they added "The" artists back under their proper letter in the alphabet.

I.E.: "The Rolling Stones" is back under "R" where it belongs.

Good.

Fair enough. Every other post in there seems to be about people experiencing apps break, or video not playing properly, or other garbage, and I guess Snow Leopard still feels so slick to me a year later that I felt no pressure to upgrade. I was on Windows XP on my main PC at home till....August of this year, lol.

But I'd like to try iCloud out, among other new Apple features, and many are restricted to Lion from what I can tell. $30's nothing compared to Windows OS prices, so, Ima give it a shot. Just bought it and DL'ing now.

People don't go online and go in OS threads just to tell everyone "super duper, guys!" They come online to bitch or get help.

Last week Apple revealed at their event that Lion adoption is the fastest for any OS they've ever released. There are a lot of people using the OS that aren't posting about it.
