Stumbled upon my first substantial 5.0.1 bug.

- Phone stopped recognizing wifi network was present
- Settings app refused to load (just remained blank when loaded, even after terminating it)
- Stopped receiving emails and notifications
- New apps didn't download/sync

and...

- A regular power shutdown of the phone didn't work.

Everything else/apps seemed to work just fine.

I had to DFU it to turn it off and restart it. Works fine again now..

WTB 5.0.1 beta 3!

Ugh. Don't care about 5.0.1. Want iTunes match. I've cleaned my iTunes library to such an absurd level as the delay has continued. I'm completely our of things to fix.

I also found that I have almost 2000 tracks that are under 256kbps. I want those gone already!

aw, it's 55 MB and too big for me to download over 3G. I guess I wait till I get home.

the naughty thrill of updating my phone over 3G will need to wait till a smaller update comes along

Whoa! It adds multitasking gestures to the iPad 1? That is all I needed to know to get this thing ASAP.

And update showed up on my iPhone 4, but I only have like 30MB of space and it needs about 250 to download.

You could buy a second iPhone with a tethering plan and use the internet from one iPhone to download the update on the other and vice versa!

Two iPhones tethered to each other = always on WiFi! It makes too much sense NOT to do it!

I think it's weird that Apple tells you to connect to a power source before you update but doesn't require it. It seems risky that Apple wouldn't force you to do that and not Apple-like. Sony forced you to meet certain requirements before you could update the PSP.

You need 50% or more battery on an iPhone to do a delta update.

Ah ok, I just got the warning to plug in and I hit ok and it went away. I'm at 75% though so that would explain it. Just seemed odd I could clear it at the time.

Yeah, definitely a weird one. I like that you don't HAVE to be connected to a power source, especially if you've got a ton of juice...but it seems like one of those "give the users an option to shoot themselves in the foot" type things.

Makes sense.

Early impressions of course, but it seems to have fixed the iPad 1 stupid slouchness "bug". The gestures actually feel good. Maybe that's why they decided to bring them back? Or the opposite, they decided to bring them back and worked on the software to make it a good experience.

Even with 256MB of RAM, the iPad 1 has a 1Ghz A4. It didn't make sense to be as slow as an iPhone 3G. My guess is that they finally optimized iOS 5 for iPad 1, which wasn't a priority on the .0.0 release.

Will need some real world usage to confirm this, though.

Hopefully less hang ups and crashes in safari now on iPad 1

So you guys are saying it feels snappier?
:D Yes, much like the iPhone 4 on 5.0.0.

btw, I just upgraded iCloud backup storage to 15GB. I'm using exactly 6GB. FML. Where exactly is that option to enable or disable backup of the camera reel? At least I want to confirm that is on.

Does anyone know if the update fixes the issue where plays on your iDevice do not sync to your PC/MAC library? Do we know if this is a bug in iOS or iTunes itself?

I did the update OTA but haven't gotten home and synced up to see if it fixed it yet.

I guess I should ask this here instead of in the iPhone 4S thread. Does the 5.0.1 update fix the battery on the iPhone 4 and iPad 1 as well?

I love over the air updates now. This update went so smoothly. In the future i will be tell the kids how we used to update with iTunes the horror the horror

It fixes general battery issues in iOS 5 itself, so yeah.

Updated and ugh, dropped pin is still broken in my area. I know it wasn't listed in the fixes but it was worth a shot. I might as well do my part and provide feedback about it through the proper Apple channels.

yeah, just did. no issues. it was around 45 MB

OK, cool. Wasn't sure if there were any rogue "I just updated and now all apps have disappeared and my battery now lasts 3 hours?!!" sort of reports.

I updated my wife's iPod touch 4 without any issues. OTA updates are so nice.

Update bricked my 4S. Got an error with the update and now it's stuck in recovery mode. Every time I try to recover it it never gets past Preparing iPhone for Restore before getting error 1604 ;_;

Edit: Finally got it to restore and am resyncing now. Perhaps my mistake was doing the update through iTunes instead of doing it over the air.

Update was painless. Safari feels a lot faster and smoother on my 4. Very interested to see if battery life improves to where it was before ios5.

Oh wtf. After the update I noticed that some bluetooh features that were working before (next/ptrevious song) in my Mazda 3 stopped working.

I deleted the paired iPhone and tried to re-pair it back. Now I can't get the iPhone to find my car's bluetooth anymore.

What a load of crap. :|

Hmm.

This better not happen to me when I get to my car in the morning. Bluetooth has been great so far since iOS 5.0.0 (track names and flawless next/previous and even FF/RWD).

I'll report in 8-10 hours.

There were battery issues on the original iPad? I never noticed.

I like the multitasking gestures.

Crap. Tried again after a few reboots and syncing with iTunes and got the same issue with both my iPhone 4 and the gf's iPhone 4S on iOS 5.0.1 (Mazda 3 2010).

:/

Shame really. I use a Parrot bluetooth kit for the iPhone (MKi 9100). If bluetooth's broken MY LIFE IS RUINED!

I mean, I can always use the aux input meanwhile...

BUT THAT WON'T WORK FOR THE PHONE FUNCTION OH NOOOOOOOOOOES D:

I updated my iPod Touch to 5.0.1 and now it won't charge the battery at all. All I get is the "Charging is not supported with this accessory" message. I already restored the iPod twice and have tried with this USB adapters, cables and such. :(

I have not used iOS since version 3 and with the new iOS 5 I have to say I am disappointed in the notification center..i thought it would work like the dashboard screens of Android phones, yet it is actually hidden away and doesn't even show on the lock screen. And the notifications you get are only from the period after you last put the phone into lock mode.

I hope 5.0.1 on 4S can be jailbroken some day, I guess I'll have to go to those Cydia devs to get what I want.

The day after it looks battery life is back to normal on my 4.

Performance is back to where it was before (was getting some occasional slowdown after I updated that seems to have disappeared, can't say so conclusively yet though because I just did it yesterday).

How is battery life for 4S users after the update? Seems like there was a software flaw that was fucking things up.
