How do you update apps in iOS5. In the store it lists all the apps I need to updte but there is no update all and when I press the icons nothing happens...
Same problem for me. Running GM.

So how does this Wireless syncing work if I have 2 platforms with different music; a desktop and a laptop. Is it the same as tethered in that it just copies everything from one iTunes, or is it customisable now?

As usual this thing has more features than I'll ever need.

Time to sign up for a Twitter account and find some way to collate my 3 or 4 e-mail accounts I guess.

Okay, is Newstand not ready still? I downloaded two magazines (Premier Guitar and Entrepreneur), and they don't show up there. Anybody have Newstand working?

the nice thing about newstand (and you could make the argument that iOS should have had this for a while) is that it allows for background downloading of items without user action. no need to get a notification, then open the app, then wait for 200 MB to download and process before reading.

more than just the pretty shelves, this is the killer feature that makes reading more care-free.

I don't find the adobe apps to be slow (nat geo, wired, etc) when i browse but i do hope that they will move away from static images to allow for selectable text, smaller file sizes and voice over capability.
Well that's nice.

However, when I restored my purchases from a magazine app in Newstand that I used to own, they only download if I'm in the app. So this is for future issues?

iOS 5 has been a frustrating mess to me so far. So many things not working as they should. First off, i have installed the GM on a couple of friends phones so that we could use iMessage rather then text. Half the phones refused to activate, and the ones that did activate refuse to send the message when in iMessage "mode". I know I set everything right; you just turn on iMessage in the settings app. Not working.

Next, the notification system. I have facebook, mail, twitter and appshopper set up to appear in the notification center. Only mail works. I've tried everything to get the others working but with no luck. So Notification Center is pretty useless to me at the moment.

iCloud. This works pretty well, and I REALLY like the fact that you can redownload purchased music. I got back so many songs I thought were lost forever. The only thing not working is Find My iPhone. I have it set up properly, but my phone always appears as offline. It has never found my phone, the send message to phone has never worked, nothing, nada.

And lastly, Newstand. Granted, this only really came out this morning and make fix itself over the course of the day. Apart from the crappy selection Canada gets, it appears the folder itself doesn't work as it should. I download a couple magazines from the Newstand section of the store to test it out, and they refuse to show up in the Newstand folder. So it's kinda useless..

I've restored my phone and reinstalled the GM to no avail. I'll try installing the public release to see if it helps, but as they are the same build I don't see anything changing. Such a disappointment.

In order to use iMessage, you need to either be on wifi or 3G. Could that be the problem?

I have no problems on the GM myself.

I have an UPDATE ALL button.

I also have no problems. Not only do I have the update all button, but it actually updates all the apps SIMULTANEOUSLY. No waiting in line, it downloaded all the updates at the same time, think it might have installed them one by one but having it be downloading each app ready to install speeds up the process by a lot. Very impressed.

I know for a fact I had those turned on for both devices when testing. I've only had one message successfully go through iMessage, the rest refuse to send.

My advice is that next time, wait for Apple to release it before you update your phone and other peoples' phones.

I know full-on Siri is 4S only, but is the dictation button on the keyboard also 4S only? Because that would be annoying as hell.

4S only. Siri and dictation use the same server-side technology.

For sure. Next time I might even wait a week or 2 after release so that major issues get ironed out. As for other peoples' phones, it was at their request and only after a warning that it might not work.

Before Lion, I would've said that that is unnecessary in my experience. But, for me, I'm waiting and hoping that 10.7.2 comes today and fixes things way more than iOS5.

Lion has been so disappointing for me.

Damn, should have brought my Air in to work today to download the newest versions of iTunes/iOS (but checking the developer site it looks like they are still GMs and not the actual public releases)

The problem with Photo Stream is that I regularly upload my videos from my iPhone to iPhoto, so there's gonna be alot of duplicates in the mix.

I hate how I can't move the Newstand into a folder.

Hate.
+1

(i know because it's 'already a folder' and it'd be like putting folders in folders, but now its on the very last screen all by its lonesome, much like i used to do with the itunes music store app back before folders were introduced. i really wish there were a non-jailbreaking way to delete those apps - heck, with the icloud and app sync, we'd just be able to go and redownload them whenever anyways...)

I dunno how to do this, but I'd love to share my Photo Stream folder with my Dads computer. Because I'm across the globe, it would be cool if he got my photos automatically instead of having me send them individually. Dunno if iCloud allows that tho.

So I downloaded the NY times thing from newstand and instead of showing up inside the newsstand, it was its own app. wtf. whats the use of the newstand app

Question. I subscribe to GQ and Wired. I want to read their digital magazines on my iPhone. However their apps seem to be iPad only. (Yes I know the magazines are optimized for iPad only).

Is there any way to get around this and view them on my 4?

Srsly.

I'm never going to buy any magazine on my iPhone, sorry.

iPhoto has a 'Deselect Duplicates' feature like Aperture, right?

I think if he installs the iCloud control panel and signs in using your iCloud account should work fine.

Knowing him, he probably wants his own id attached to iCloud aswell tho.

Four more minutes left people. My body is ready.
