Anyone been playing Battlestation: Harbinger?

Looks pretty sweet and really deep, definitely seems under appreciated so far.

Has some definite inspirations from Out There and FTL, but more active combat variation.

From a 3 man team, they could use the support too

Also hello ios gaf. I got an iPad Air 2 the other week. I've downloaded doorkickers and it's pretty good and totally unique. I don't think playing on pc and mouse would feel as nice.

I downloaded hearthstone a few days ago and I'm totally hooked. I'm not playing anything else. I did play it when I had a Nexus 7 but it feels at home on the iPad screen.

You have to check out FTL and Papers Please on iPad too. Two other ports that I'd say play better on touch than mouse+KB

It's fantastic.
My favorite 'solo' boardgame on digital.
The expansions are eons better even.
Still among the best iOS boardgames after all these years, if not the best (others being Carcassonne and Talisman).

Hard as nails but fantastic, great production values too.

Are you familiar with the FFG boardgame?

How exactly does a single player boardgame work? I thought they were all MP

The Guides is supposed to release tomorrow

Anyone know if it's in the NZ store yet, or is it actually releasing tomorrow?

You know how the App Store is. Devs say Thursday when their games actually release in the US at 11pm the day before

In case of Elder Sign: Omens it's the digital port of a real boardgame that can be played solo, like all 'co-op' boardgames so they didn't do anything special.

In the case of Talisman you can play against AIs.
Idem Carcassone (which is nice but of course much better with real opponents).

Elder sign is strictly solo or pass and play (each player control one investigator).
Talisman is realtime multiplayer (takes ages).
Carcassone is asynchronous.

As I reckon you are a WH40K fan, you could try, if curious, Space Hulk : Death Angel by FFG...a really nice coop card game that is fantastic solo. (Would be great on digital btw).
The upcoming Warhammer Quest Adventure Card Game by FFG also looks very promising too.

I spent an entire train ride to London a few weeks ago entirely being amusing by Elder Sign. It is pretty great. It can be super rough and you have to have a slight gamblers streak in yourself to really enjoy it, but if you do it is a super nice logic dice rolling chance game with a layering of Cthulhu madness on top. Their is a fair number of extra dlc monsters in it but they are a level of tough already layered on a level of tough of the existing monsters so it is a fair few hours you can get out of the game before you even think about fighting them. My main man Hastur is already in the main game so he is all I really need.

Yes, I have started playing the game. I experience an annoying bug on my iPad Air 1 though, many jumps in the star map can't be reached because the scrolling doesn't go far enough to display... That's unfortunate as it's systematic, I wonder how this went through Q&A. Unfortunately, I think this is the kind of game early adopters beta test... :-/ Too bad because there's some potential. It's a little bit slow and the progression could be balanced but it's a cool concept. I hope the developer will support the game, I'll let a bug report on there board, maybe they are listening.

I think you're right. I got a Testflight version, and the latest update is for scrolling and zooming out the map, and "testing buying and selling"

Stuff you'd expect to working in a full release of a game like this

Yes, one dev is active on Touch Arcade's forum and he acknowledged the bug. Seems like their studio is so small and short on money they only tested their game on iPhone 4s and iPad Mini. Of course it breaks on iPad Air, that's Murphy's law for you... They'll fix it anyway so I'm not even angry, I liked what I could play before being stuck by that bug. I can forgive many things as long as lasers and space ships are involved...

Slowly regaining possession of my life after I completed DeathWatch on heroic yesterday (outstanding masterpiece, I can't recommend the game enough).
Debating where to start...older games or waiting for Lara Croft GO, Calvino Noir and possibly Galactic Keep (which I already comoketed several times tough...another outstanding game).

Good problems.

Can anybody vouch for the Guides?
Seems cool, but I'd like to know how difficult it is, and how interesting the puzzles are.

There are great games coming to iOS this august and PocketGamer did an article about them, check it out

I beta tested Seashine and is wonderful. I really like it. Is all about exploring and adventure in deep waters. Is different from what I played and oozes beauty and charm along great gameplay. Swim, hunt, avoid, escape, explore, gaze, learn, reach further, survive. AMAZING. It will be free with ads only. AMAZING.

Oh!
Sunshine looks really cool, right up my alley!
Does it have a story or a final objective to reach?
When it will be out?

It will be out at the end of the month, august 28th. Free to play (only ads) and I dont know, all we tried was controls, fun factor, possible bugs, survival, exploration and stuff like that. I hope so, something like Out There could be great for it. My guess: You will like it and if not is was free so nothing to lose.

There is another game coming from PixelJam, the developers of Glorkian Warrior, coming out soon called Last Horizon. That game you will not only like, but love. Is the arcade version of Out There, but level based (has an endless mode as well). You have to maneuver in space, land on planets, discover things, hunt for resources, make habitable planets, and much much more. I only played a prototype that showed gameplay (there were a lot of placeholders) and it was amazing nonetheless. Kept thinking how much you will like it. I meant Love, sorry xD

Dungeon of the Endless coming this week

Looks amazing but sadly is iPad only. Hope they release a universal update someday...

There's another game coming out this week, but our lips are sealed by embargo for now. Keep your eye on Pocket Gamer to find out more.

I can think of some candidates that weren't on the list PG posted earlier that are supposed to release on august. Hopes up high for the Nitrome game for example.

new iPad Air 2 owner here.

I'm already loving Deathwatch & have previously played Banner Saga, XCOM, Shadowrun games and FFT: WoTL but am looking to see if there are any other decent SRPGs available?

Ditto on decent card battlers, CCGs, TBS, RTS, 3d platformers and adventure games, if anybody can help at all?

The games I'm going through right now:

40k Deathwatch
This War of Mine
Papers, Please
Monsters Ate my Metropolis
Rollercoaster Tycoon 3

That's quite a line-up right there

Was going to say Banner Saga, but you already played that. Check out Tactics Maiden, many here and myself say it's one of the best and underrated SRPGs on IOS

Card battlers, check out Card Crawl, EMPIRE: The Deck Building Strategy Game, Card City Nights

TBS: Transistor is a fantastic mix of turn-based and real-time combat and RPG elements
Qvadriga is a great turn-based chariot running game from Slitherine, Pixel Dungeon is a quality roguelike with turn-based elements

Adventure games: The Silent Age, Machinarium, Botanicula

Excellent, thanks for the list to go on, I'll give a few of these a go this week

You already have top stuff on your hands...but if you like TBS and maybe boardgames, as you like Deathwatch, you may like Warhammer Quest too.
The others I would suggest,,.you already played them all :)

Look out for Galactic Keep in the imminent future (maybe next week), you could like that one too.

Do you mind if I ask if you guys can give our game, Star Bridge a play? We have only had 44 people download it. I also know about 7 of those people personally.

I've played it! Graphics are really top notch on my 5s, production value overall is great.

I haven't played very much (made it to level 7?), but I find the gaining of coins to be painfully slow. It would also be nice to have one or two ships be purchasable via coins, and then leave the rest as IAP. The prices of the boosts at the beginning seem fair to me, if you would get more than 3-5 coins per game.

As for the gameplay itself, it's fun, but too easy in the beginning. Do you reach milestones later on that start you at a more difficult level? If I have to restart at 1 every time, I am going to lose interest very, very quickly (already kind of am). I'll keep trucking, but I feel it needs a few upgrades to be truly great. The game shines once the difficulty ramps up, but that beginning grind is a real barrier for me.

I agree with the difficulty ramp for sure. The first few zones up to 4 can be pretty empty depending on the roll of the dice. 4 forward is where it gets pretty chaotic. We should probably pull that back to Zone 3. We had thought to have a mechanic to allow you to skip zones but UI support for that is going to be a mess.

The best money you can spend in the game is the coin doubler and following that the Hurricane ship. We may add another free ship into the mix or allow them all to be purchased with coins, but likely more coins than the $1 the ship would normally cost.

Honestly I couldn't get by the first door so I gave up hahah. Maybe include a tutorial or something for dummies like me.

I've downloaded Guides. It's very well designed in as far as it looks great, but in already stuck on the 6th puzzle. It reminds me of Device 6 in a way.

Edit: never mind, I solved it!
