Mine's available for pickup today. I'll be flying back home from business travel tomorrow night giving me roughly 45min to get to the Apple Store before it closes.

It shall be done.

If all you care about is surfing the web and watching an occasional movie is it worth it?

think nexus might have a bit better speakers, while ipad's 4:3 screen ratio works better for web browsing imo.

you probably should go nexus.

btw: what cases yall touting? realized my mini's case doesn't fit which is a bit of a bummer. don't think there are any mini retina cases out yet (apple employees didn't even know).

might have to find a rear screenshield thing and a smart cover.

I ordered the Apple smart case with mine.

Wondering if any GAF mini 2 owners can comment on claims that the screen has worse color reproduction/less saturated colors than the iPad 4 or the Air?

So there's a number of people here who have had it for over a day now.

How's the battery life? Does it still meet the 10-hours other iPads get?

It's definitely different, albeit in the same way the first generation mini was to every other iPad;'iPad mini vs iPad 2 would, obviously, be the best comparison to perform. I'm not an expert on colour reproduction, but I'd say that any trade-off there is easily matched by the considerably greater pixel density.

Guys, I ask this in the iPad mini thread but nobody pay attention to it, can you guys help me?

...I need some app recommendation. I haven't used iOS in 3 years.

I need a good Google Voice app for the iPad mini I just got

Also, a good data usage moniotoring app I can access on the iOS6 notification center. I don't mind paying for one if its cheap. Just got the free 200mb TMobile data plan activated on my ATT iPad mini 3G.

Grabbed one for the wife canceled online order. Did in store pick up, no waiting in line. That's how it is done, no fuss.

Google Has a Google Voice app for iPhone that will work on both. I've heard other people mention talkatone but I've never tried it.

I exchanged my iPad Air for a Mini tonight. I wanted to love the Air but couldn't handle the extra weight. New mini is literally the same thing but smaller. Like it so far

I'm feeling increasingly less enamored by my Mini. I have an 11 inch Air, so my laptop is perfectly portable as is. I mainly bought the Mini for reading comics and PDFs, but just getting the content on the damn thing is such an unnecessarily cumbersome process (unless I'm doing something wrong).

I've been emailing to myself and then saving to iBooks. Seems the fastest method so far. Yeah.

This screen though. My eyes are so thoroughly luxuriated right now, it's beyond crisp.

Some pics of my space grey ipad air at max brightness vs wife's silver ipad mini retina.

IPad Air's speaker is much louder, both looks great.

Google Voice app and Talktone are both free. I would try those before using a paid app for G-Voice.

You can check real time data usage by opening settings > Usage > Cellular Usage. In there you can see how much data up and down has been used and shows the last time it was reset. I could be wrong as that is how one would check data on an iPhone running iOS 6, lol.

I've never known of an app or method that would put data usage in the notification center. TMobile may have an app or an option to receive text messages or emails for when you are running out of data.

Oh my god.

I got an iPad Air and my wife just picked up her Mini. Its TRULY light, not just "lighter", but completely usable.

That screen.

The portability.

This is amazing. Im returning my Air this weekend.

I'm so happy to hear this. I'm so happy I waited for the Retina Mini and didn't get the Air.

So Apple was lying about limited supply? Or is the stealth launch causing lower initial sales than usual Apple products?

It doesn't look like anyone has had any trouble snapping these up.

Anyone go from Mini to Mini Retina? Is it worth the small upgrade?
SMALL UPGRADE!? Seriously what, the mini now has the same internals as its bigger brother, the soc skipped two generations and went from a5 to a7, the ram has been doubled and the screen has four times the resolution. That's a huge leap.

Stealth launch confused early adopters. This allowed supply to exceed demand at the moment. We'll see how it looks during Black Friday and leading up to Christmas.

Troll post? The Mini got far and away more than what everyone expected it to.

Seriously. Before it was announced I was thinking it was going to be second-tier to the new full-sized iPad. Maybe loaded with scaled-down iPad 4 internals like the A6X.

The benchmarks may have it clocked in at just under the Air, but it's effectively on par, and still much more of a massive upgrade than many were expecting.

I don't think Apple ever said stocks were low, that was based on reports by analysts.

Stocks are low, look at Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Chicago:

Mini is cool. Can't replace the big screen IMO.

Can't read PDFs full screen.

It's more like a small paperback.

I like to see my iPad as a magazine size replacement or something to view 8.5 by 11 printable documents.

Nope not a troll post. I'm posting this on my Mini right now and I love it. Just wanted a little insight before I spend some more money.
It's worth it purely for retina. Reading stuff. So good. Gifs on gaf load quickly. So good.
You can probably sell your mini for a good price too atm.

Really? Is there a way to put the usage on the home desktop like a widget? I have to launch an app to see the usage?

I would whine about the weather too but I think iOS7 put the weather back to notification center.

I'm finding it really hard to believe that you can't read PDFs on the iPad mini retina. Do you use glasses perhaps?

Been curious about this myself. It should be possible cause the resolution, but that doesn't mean it's preferable. Ultimately it'd be like viewing letter pages at around 50% size without zooming, technically legible if you have the eyesight, but not necessarily comfortable or ideal to read.

but even then 10" screen of big ipad vs 7.9" with both at the same resolution.

Might be an obvious question but does the Apple Store accept returns for online orders? Might just pick one up at the Apple Store and return my online order when I receive it.

yep. says so on the store page website and i asked the people there.

its what i'm doing lol, my (2nd) ipad mini retina is coming in the mail today i think.

depends on what you use it for.

mine is mostly to browse gaf and internet videos and netflix while in bed, with a few games. so 16 is fine.

Hmm. Browsing, netflix, and spotify streaming so 16 should be more than enough I bet.

I dunno if the extra 2 inches of screen space is worth the extra $100. That's what holding me back from buying one right now.
