So I just grabbed the
Lifeproof case today. It was about $76 after tax at Best Buy Mobile. The guy there gave me a 15% discount he says. I'm sure there's some marketing ploy involved, but it was still a bit lower than the cheapest deal I was able to find online or anywhere else.
First, I put a small piece of a paper towel inside the case and made sure it was snapped tight and all seals were closed tight. I put it in a bowl of water and submerged it for about an hour. I took it out of the bowl and dried the outside of the case off with a towel. I snapped open the Lifeproof case and the paper towel inside the case was completely dry.
Another great feature of the case is the material it's made out of. It doesn't grip, and slides easily in and out of your pocket. This may or may not be a good thing. With my old otterbox, the silicone had a nice grip to it so if I was driving and had the phone sitting on my leg or something, it didn't really slide off. With the Lifeproof material, it's not grippy at all, but on the other hand it's easier to pick up out of your pocket or whatever, so choose your side on that issue.
The case can take a beating. It's not indestructible by any means, but unless you plan on throwing your phone out a two story window onto hard cement, there isn't much you're going to encounter in life that will break your phone save it getting run over by a car or something.
It has its own screen cover obviously so I took out my invisible shield on my iPhone and cut a piece out and threw that on my Nano since I wouldn't really need it anymore.
Right now the only issue I have with the case is there's like an "air pillow" between the iPhone's screen and the plasticy material that protects the screen. It's not a big deal, and I read online that it can be pressed out or if you just wait a week or so it will flatten to the screen. The protective screen doesn't impair the quality of the screen at all. It actually looks better than it did with my invisible shield on.
If I _really_ had to complain about something, it's that using this case sort of hinders the sound quality. It uses a screen that allows MOST of the sound to escape, but of course, not allowing water in, some sound quality is sacrificed. People who use the iPhone's speaker
a lot may want to shy away from this case just for this reason. What's good though is that they give you a waterproof headphone jack which allows you to plug in your headphones into the port so if you have a good pair of waterproof headphones or you use headphones a lot, you can plug in your headphones without having to unscrew the water prevention blocker that is plugged into the headphone jack.
Edit: my Iphone 4s is White, but it looks exactly like the picture, because the Lifeproof case only shows the screen of your iPhone, so you could get it in any color they produce and you wouldn't know the true color of your phone because it's hidden behind the case.
