When you guys pre-order, do most of you choose free shipping or pay for shipping? I'm curious about the difference in actual delivery times.
Pretty sure it's free shipping across the board and the expectation should be getting it day of if it plays out anything like last year.

Don't recall picking or seeing any shipping options.

I'm trying to order one from Verizon, and they're making me pick data plans and text message plans. I just want to stick with my old shit (unlimited). What did other people do?
I'm having the same issue, it's giving me no unlimited option.

I don't think I even had the option to pay for shipping :lol. They said that barring any extreme circumstance, it would be here Friday or Saturday.

I have a white iPad, so I was thinking synergistically, now I'm thinking I'd rather my phone be a low-profile accessory.

All I know is my good friend has the white 4 and I just want it every time I see it. When I see the black ones in the wild they just seem meh to me.

There's a little disclaimer thing I found at the bottom of the page and it says that if you already have unlimited stuff, and they drop off, you can call Verizon once you get the phone and have everything added back on. I actually just pick the cheapest of all the options they gave me and my confirmation that I just got in my email shows my correct plan.

Lol... after 3 hours of hitting refresh on my Canadian carrier's site (Fido), I fell asleep! Woke up a few minutes ago, maybe a little later than I should.. clicked again and 64GB WHITE 4S GET!!!

Position 474 in line.... I hope that's like, 474 in all of Canada or something :P

Sprint's not giving me the right first impression...

After making me call a representative to discuss a credit check, then making me pay a $100 deposit, I get an e-mail saying "The Sprint item(s) you ordered may be temporarily out of stock."

WTF? What was the point of me staying up until 4 last night?

Hmm, now I want a bigger sized 4S. I wonder if I cancel my old order, can I order new order? I wonder if I'll still be eligible for an upgrade in the system...

alright 2 white 32gbers ordered!

reserved around 130a, got email around 4a, woke up for work just now and ordered no problems. cannot change shipping address though that is in itunes account. I tried. that option is grayed out.

good luck everyone!

Preordered a white 32GB White iPhone with Verizon. I'm psyched, especially because my Droid Incredible is getting pretty janky and the headphone jack on my iPod Touch stopped working. Only one week to go...

Glad to see I'm not the only one ordering a white iphone. I haven't seen anyone with one in person, this will be a fresh new feeling :p

So I got up last night at 2 and the site was fucked. Went to Verizon and went all the way through the process only to realize the billing name was stuck under my mom and I couldn't order with my card. Said fuck it and went back to bed. Got up just now, Apple site worked just fine and I ordered one. Kind of wish I had just staid asleep last night. White 32gb for me.

I don't see an option on AT&T to upgrade both lines on my family plan. Does it work if you do each line separately?
We upgraded each line on our account to iPhones and kept the Family minutes plan. Just do them one at a time; the voice plan is left as-is. Does that help?

Anybody know if its the same deal for AT&T? I had a 1500 message plan that (I think) was less than $20/mo. I don't need unlimited, but my only other choice was $0.20 per message and that would be more expensive.

Also, I had the Enterprise data plan (so I can get work email/calendar/contact sync) but that wasn't an option here. So I just picked unlimited. Weird. I'll call AT&T when it's not 3:40 AM (in Hawaii on vacation).

Anyway, white 64GB preordered!

So it seems as though people through AT&T Premier accounts are having problems ordering.

And why does everyone seem shocked when people are getting a 10/14 delivery date? Like I said earlier, I got my 4 a day before launch from AT&T.
I'm trying through premier and even though it says I'm a valued customer it's offering me a 16 gig for 449 dollars.wtf

Looks like the wells are drying up:

Just hours after pre-orders began, shipping estimates for new iPhone 4S orders placed through Apple's online stores in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and the UK have slipped to 1-2 weeks from the initial "by October 14th" estimate. Shipping estimates through Apple remain at October 14th in the United States, while the company is not offering online sales in Japan.
US holding the 14th date so far apparently, but if the rest of the world is already seeing delays, I suspect the US won't be far behind.

Good news for folks who didn't stay up last night, though!

I am buzzing my tits off for October 14th when O2 announce their UK pricing. Been on my iPhone 3G for far too long now, I'll pay anything if I can use a phone that takes less than 5 minutes to boot Facebook. Even more if I can bellow "FACEBOOK ACTIVATE!".

My first Siri command will be "Tea, Earl Grey, Hot."

or "Go Go Gadget Bananaphone."

Wait.... I'm about to pay for my reservations, but.... it only ships to the billing address?

That is no good.

What's this all about?
iPhone 4S follows the Verizon iPhone form factor, which slightly adjusted the placement of the volume/mute buttons.

AT&T iPhone 4 cases aren't necessarily compatible unless they are very general about where the buttons on the side need to be. Best to get Verizon iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S specific cases to ensure compatibility.

you dont need the bumper case for 4S.
Most of the time, but my hip clip I take to the gym and my car holder are made to fit the bumper case. Plus, it has helped me in a couple minor drops.

I'll be removing it most of the time though.

Speaking of cases (I know, it keeps coming back up): Does anyone have an informed opinion on the OtterBox Commuter line of cases? I don't need the Defender case as I don't intend to make calls from a warzone, and less bulky is generally better for me. Does the Commuter fit those preferences?

Right on. Also, I've always liked my phones naked, but this whole glass-on-the-back thing is making me consider at least a bumper. Do they provide adequate protection for someone who is generally careful about handling their phone? I figure if I do go the bumper route, white on white seems like a no brainer.

I'm pretty sure Verizon is no longer grandfathering unlimited data, so if you want to keep that you're going to outright buy an iPhone.

Also, the commuter is a great series of cases. I love selling those with phones, especially when customers decide against the insurance.

Incorrect. Read my posts the last couple of pages.

They give no protection but if you take care of the phone you don't need it.

The most dangerous part of the phone to me is the glass back because of how slippery it is.

I have a dilemma

I called an ATT store the other day and the lady told me if "I called and asked for her (she gave me her name) on the 13th, she would put me on a list and I should have "no problem" getting it the next day. She told me dont bother preordering just call her the 13th.

I was going to do this because I didnt realize the phones would ARRIVE the 14th if I ordered online. It's important to me to get it on the 14th b/c I will be out of town for the rest of the weekend.

Now I feel like I should preorder online if the are going to be ARRIVING on the 14th.

Does anyone know if order via ATT online or on the phone if they are shipping it to arrive the 14th like apple is?

WHAT SHOULD I DO!?!?

1st time smart phone owner here so I'm desperate to get a taste of the good life ASAP.

The thing I didn't like about the bumpers that ultimately led to me not using them (was paranoid about antennagate at the time) was that the material is a bit rubbery. Getting the phone in/out of my pockets wasn't buttery smooth anymore as it'd catch on the material.

Probably not a big deal for most people, though.

Bumper does a solid job of giving a bit of protection. It slightly keeps the glass off of any flat surface since it slightly covers the front and back edges, which does make it a bit more table friendly.

Huh... I've called them twice now trying to get them to keep unlimited data for customers, and they told me it couldn't be done. Both times the customer just said "Oh well."

Now I'm a little pissed.

I had to call them this morning because I was never sent any email regarding my order or my new account to confirm and although my order is still in place and my account is set up I have no way to access it at all because the site does not recognize my username because I never confirmed the account because they never sent me an email! INFINITE LOOP INDEED.

Have you tried doing it online?

DO NOT TRUST THIS WOMAN!!!

If you don't think you can trust your order to arrive on the 14th (so far it seems like you'd be OK), you could always line up for one the day of. Would require a lot of camping on your part (at least 5 hours), but you'd almost assuredly get the phone as long as you got there before most people.

I'd say try talking to this woman on the 13th and see what happens, but plan to line up on the 14th if you can anyways if for some reason she doesn't come through. Something about all of that sounds particularly shady to me. Not like she's intentionally trying to screw you or anything like that, but that she's doing something that she'll find out isn't going to work out.

Nothing about that sounds right to me.

I feel super nervous about it too. I forgot the add that I live in a small (ish) town in Illinois, so I'm not sure HOW much of a demand there will be. Thing is I cant line up or camp out anymore. I have work. :(

If I order thru AT&T are they offering release date arrival?

Okay... so my wife and I are on a family plan... I reserved two iphones from apple.com..

but when I go to pay for it... it looks like each iphone has to sign up for separate 2year contracts... how do we do this for a family plan?

I tried calling Apple, but they have a message saying they are receiving too many calls and can't answer.
