newer cdma chips, at least for verizon, allow voice and data at the same time. why would apple neglect to use this chip?

When I ordered from Apple I entered my brother's number because he used my upgrade recently so I'm taking his.

What's the easiest way to get it working on my line when it arrives? Can I just put my current iPhone 4 sim in before activating? Hopefully I don't have to call ATT Friday, because that will probably be difficult.

Maybe I'll just pay the extra for the unlimited data on Verizon if I decide the cap makes me feel anxious. The point is the unlimited data was not enough to keep me on AT&T. It's not unlimited data if you can't fucking use it.

Verizon doesn't have unlimited data anymore; they got rid of it. Plus it's not just about now; it's about future use. As time goes on, more and more apps have nice data usage capabilities. We didn't always have Netflix, HBO Go, Spotify, etc. HBO Go and Spotify has come out within the last year. I see no reason to restrict yourself if you can.

I highly recommend the Incase Snap Clear for a minimal protective case that still shows off the phone. Also keeps your ports making them still accessible unlike some cases.

I see lots of people talking about cases, but has it been confirmed that iPhone 4 cases will work just fine with the 4S?
 
Anyone think Apple will update the Siri voice? I don't find it too appealing as it is now. I'd pay $5 for custom celebrity voices. Raspy and seductive Scarlett Johansson voice, please.

Just like car navigation systems, I hope they allow people to release custom packs on the app store.

I'd totally buy the Fist of the North Star Siri sound pack.

I will pay $5 for either Stephen Fry (Jeeves) or Paul Bettany (JARVIS) for my Siri voice.

Don't sweat it. If you got it in before the ship dates changed, you'll be fine. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, when I ordered the original iPad, the shipment status wandered all over the place and the device still arrived on time as promised.

Now, if you ordered after the ship date slipped from October 14 to "1 to 2 weeks" of course it's not going to be ready to ship for awhile yet. ;)
 
Oh and if ever looking up 'lupus' in Wolfram Alpha with Siri, needs the obligatory "It's never Lupus" quote from Hugh Laurie.

Sprint updated my status again and i got a tracking number!! Looks like my phone has shipped(or will very soon!)

God, wtf. I'm glad some people are having things work with Sprint but they continue to fuck me over. Today my order number wasn't working, so I called AGAIN and asked to speak to someone. Now my security pin and security question wouldn't work, even though I've used both on the phone with them Friday and Saturday. So after having verified who I was with tons of other personal information they finally corrected the order glitch (no idea what it was) and it's back for me to view on their site.

Still fucking processing...

I hate these people.

I got my tracking number but it isn't working on UPS.com yet. Hopefully it will work soon. As long as i get the phone before noon on friday i'm fine. I am leaving town for the weekend so i really dont want to wait till i get back to play with my new phone.

You know, it would be lovely and magical to get the phone by Friday too, since I am going on a trip for 5 days on Saturday, but there's probably no shot in hell that'll happen now. I'll be lucky if it even ships this month. I totally wanted to order through Apple's site for this very reason, but they weren't taking new carrier customers.

At this point, I'm pretty sure I'll never do a Day 1 iPhone purchase ever again.

I preordered the Iphone 4S on Sprint last Friday and didn't get any confirmation. I had to call them today to get an email with the order number. It's showing no activity at the moment.

And I didn't purchase Apple Care+ when I preordered the phone, but the rep today said I can add it when I call to activate it. I guess I'm going to cancel my equipment insurance. It's about $8 a months, so over two years it equates to $192. Of course, I don't have the piece of mind if it gets stolen.

Also, installed iOS 5 on my iPad, and liking the wireless sync and iCloud support.

One again, choosing AT&T's unlimited data would have meant staying on a network I have come to despise.
