Gary Whitta said:This is more of an iCloud/iOS5 thing but I've been playing around with Photo Stream and it's pretty great. Take a photo on your iPhone, come home and it's already on your Mac, no need to sync. And it's already on your iPad too. I already "got" this concept but when you actually see it work, instantly and seamlessly, it's impressive.
Turn it off.Kurdel said:So if I take 150 beautiful 8mpx pictures with my iPhone, they will upload to the cloud automatically? Wouldn't that, like, obliterate my data plan?
I agree, that is annoying.Sean said:Photo Stream is great, but it's a huge annoyance that you cannot seem to delete anything from it (at least on iOS devices).
I take a bunch of iPhone screen caps and such and as far as I can tell, there's no way to get rid of them other than waiting 30 days or whatever.
ivedoneyourmom said:And what is so wrong with Apple using a software feature to sell a piece of hardware? Isn't that EXACTLY what they do with computers? While their computers aren't necessarily off the shelf, they aren't terribly exotic hardware wise either. The existence of OS X is to sell this hardware. Apple would not be nearly as successful if they just installed Windows like everyone else does. They certainly have the ability to do, but instead they fund a very expensive OS project to sell the hardware.
Yeah, software can be used to sell hardware. Get used to it.
Loki said:It's the fact that it's 2+ year old software. There's nothing innovative or unique about it barring some specifics of the implementation. OS X isn't touting 2 year old features upon launch as a selling point - those features should have been standard long ago.

Also thisivedoneyourmom said:Photo stream does not count against your iCloud storage space.
Marty Chinn said:Ya, and it will obliterate your iCloud storage. The photos and videos I have on my phone already exceed the free storage for me already. I had to turn it off and just went back to normal backup.
iPhone has had Voice Control for years. Siri is a whole new thing. It's had apps on mobile devices, but now it's completely built into the core OS.Loki said:It's the fact that it's 2+ year old software. Though only keeps the last 1000, but it also automatically goes to your iPhoto album or on your PC so it takes care of that.
The "Killing Data" part is plausible I guess.
Camera Roll and Photo Stream are different.Marty Chinn said:Your Camera Roll does count against your storage. It told me I was going to exceed my 5GB limit because of it.
Last year people who pre-ordered the 4 online got it a day before the retail launch. Nobody knows what will happen this year.Weenerz said:With previous online pre-orders, has Apple sent them early? Or will they promptly deliver the phone on the 14th?
The guy you responded to was talking about photo stream.Marty Chinn said:Your Camera Roll does count against your storage. It told me I was going to exceed my 5GB limit because of it.

Sean said:Photo Stream does not upload to the cloud while on 3G, it would wait until you connect to WiFi. And under iCloud > Documents and Data you have an option of disabling cellular for that stuff. It's just bookmarks/calendar/contacts/reminders/notes (all tiny stuff) that sync over 3G.
LOLSean said:The worst part is Apple does not communicate this at all when you enable Photo Stream. I can see a lot of people being angry when they realize they aren't able to delete stuff from Photo Stream, especially those who take naughty pics. Though on the upside, this might lead to more celebrity nudes leaking out.
I dunno you might be right, but I'm leaning towards the fact that having Siri deeply integrated into iOS itself and not just running as a separate app requires the extra processing power and possibly more RAM to keep the phone operating as smoothly as they want it to. Plus if I had to guess Siri is just going to keep getting bigger, better but also more demanding, so even if the iPhone 4 could handle it fine right now, there might come a time when it can't which could cause more problems than just making it iPhone 4S or better exclusive from the startLoki said:Exactly. What a joke that they're basically holding loyal customers hostage over a feature that has been on other phones for YEARS now by featuring it EXCLUSIVELY on a new model coming out when it's easily implementable in software. Sad.

Marty Chinn said:Wait what? Photo Stream doesn't work over 3G? Why is it grouped with a bunch of things that are updateable over 3G? I hope Apple has a good FAQ of how all of this works out there because trying to figure it out from the Settings is very confusing.

Also, am I the only one who noticed how all the old Android threads are being bumped lately? I wonder why ;P

I just gave them the order number and verified the billing info. They were more than helpful in changing my shipping and one of them wasnt even under my CC. 1-800-my-appleduracell017 said:I have ordered two phones on Apple, one on my itunes account and the other on my gf's. I want to change the shipping addresses to my work. Is it possible for both accounts or just my account? What will I need to be able to change her shipping address for this order? I have ordered both using my CC.

No I mean the the icons on Google's flagship phone look of slightly lower quality than those of a guy making them at home.Husker86 said:Winterboard themes are 3rd party. Do you mean Springboard?
I have this all the time with O2, it's not a network specific problem it's a coverage specific problem. I don't think you're going to know how good/bad a carrier is for you specifically without trying them out (or knowing somebody that has similar movements to you).KingDizzi said:Can only speak for London but yeah 3 was bad. The kicker was my sister sending me a text while I was in uni and me receiving it something silly like 6 hours. Thankfully it was not in that occasion but if something important happened I'd be fucked. So yeah don't bother with them, just on a personal note my sister is on O2 and her phone signal is great which is why I'm going with them.
I'm picking up a Sena case. A colleague at work has one and it's great, really nice soft leather - fits the phone perfectly.JackEtc said:How about a sleeve case, just something that you keep your phone in when it's in your pocket?
Anyone know any good ones?

makes sense, but I wonder how it fits in the pants pocket. if that odd shape has any consequences when it comes to storage.
