How does that stand up to beatings like the Invisishield.

Here are some of my favorite examples from experimenting with Siri:
Me: Im drunk.
Siri: I found a number of cabs fairly close to you. (Perfect; it didnt dial my ex-girlfriend.)
Me: I have a flat tire.
Siri: I found 14 towing services. 12 of them are fairly close to you.
Me: Remind me to steal a ream of paper when I arrive at the office.
Siri: Heres your reminder for when you get to work: Steal a ream of paper. Shall I create it?
Me: Im going to kill myself.
Siri: I found four mental health agencies. Three of them are fairly close to you. (This was just a test dont be alarmed.)

Despite that I was up until 3:30am Thursday night, and then up again at 6am Friday morning, the end result of me trying to get my iPhone pre-ordered early is this:
![]()
I had to go in to the store to get it done, and 11:30am was the earliest they could see me.
I'm guessing I won't be seeing my phone for another couple of weeks? That kinda makes me mad, but I guess it's just a phone. I'm more anxious to be able to sell the one I'm using currently, really.
BAH.
Does anyone else have the same screen from AT&T (when doing the search for your order using order number + zip code on AT&T's site) yet is able to confirm the shipment of your phone? I'd love to know that this info is just misleading, and that my phone may still be here on Friday. Anyone?
You were about to go on my ignore list.... I've only ever used it for numble and that was only like three daysdream said:Well you can't take a knife to it the way you can with Invisible Shields. But they feel so much better.
I do not. Bareback, baby!
Wow, nice. But theres a new wrinkle that potentially makes the international-roaming experience better on Sprint and Verizon iPhones than it is on AT&T. Sprint plans to sell the iPhone 4S with its micro-SIM slot unlocked; Verizons will be initially locked, but if youve been a customer in good standing for 60 days, you can call Verizon and ask for an international unlock. (A Verizon spokesperson told me that this is Verizons standard policy for all world phonesits just the first time its manifested itself on an iPhone.)
Cool! My buddy is pumped for a 4S but I can't let him go out and about with a case.dream said:

It knows a lot about weather and restaurants but nothing about movie times. Apple says that understanding the words you say is the easy part, and that Siris true genius is in figuring out what you want when you say those words and getting you the answer. If thats true, Siri needs to be tied in to many more information sources and apps. (Including third-party apps, which are not capable of tying into Siri today.)"
In other words, I think Siri will fall in line with most of our expectations. Some good, practical use but nothing earth-shattering. Movie times would have been nice.
Neither is Verizon, but doesn't mean they won't unlock them...LyleLanley said:There's no way AT&T would sell it unlocked.

Do you like lining up in parking lots late Thursday evening waiting for a store to open on Friday morning? If you do, they should be very available!Big Baybee said:Any idea how available these phone will be if I didn't preorder?
I've never had to camp overnight for the iPhone. Always there by no later than 6am though. Any later than that and it's a crapshoot.Evlar said:Do you like lining up in parking lots late Thursday evening waiting for a store to open on Friday morning? If you do, they should be very available!
Notrollious said:Man, I'm not a big fan of iOS, to be quite honest, but I'll be damned if any android phone comes close to looking as good in the design department as the 4/4s, except maybe the nexus prime and galaxy s II.
I would totally jump ship if I liked iOS more, what with the design and battery life (apple devices seem to have great battery life. it can't be that difficult for other manufacturers!).
Gah. Decisions decisions. It's mighty tempting, especially since my contract is up for renewal.
Weenerz said:I'm excited about the phone and Siri, but do we have to see every review video ask about the fucking weather, we know it can find the weather. Ask it a hard question.
Paradoxal_Utopia said:Could you elaborate as to your major issues with iOS? I have an iPhone 4 and 3 android phones, and really, overall, there's very little advantages android has, apart from customizability, etc which I couldn't care less about (especially with iOS5). The biggest thing about iOS is the appstore, which has, by far, the best quality apps out there. It's really no content in that regard. And I think that's become a more important consideration than the OS itself.

Yeah I'm surprised Siri doesn't support twitter since iOS5 integrates it into everything now.KHarvey16 said:Aren't the tweets more integrated into iOS now though?
LyleLanley said:I don't see it happening anytime soon given that ATT hasn't unlocked any of the previous iPhones.
You can also send a photo to twitter rig from the photo/camera app. This is a great feature of the integration.Weenerz said:Logging in is integrated into iOS, so you don't have to authorize 10 different twitter apps. But that is it.
