What? This was known since iCloud got announced. Plus Steam Cloud has existed for years. Let's not somehow make it seem like Apple thought of something new.
I know about Steam Cloud, but I didn't know about game saves in iCloud. I'm not suggesting Apple did anything new here, I'm just glad it's there.

If your day that flexible that you plan it solely according to possible weather forecasts? Impressive, but not something I've ever heard of anyone doing. Takes 1 second to open the app, I don't see any extra benefit.

Because it's at a glance information that is updated for me rather than having to open an app and wait for it to download the info since iOS doesn't do background downloading. It's one thing to look outside and see that it's sunny, but that doesn't tell me it's supposed to start raining at 2 in the afternoon so maybe I should bring a jacket and umbrella.

It's imperative that he sees it at a glance! I'm being an ass, but I really don't see why you'd need a widget like that. It's not like you can 100% count on weather forecasts, anyway.

The "FUCKING BRILLIANT" made it sound like you were implying that. It's good to have, and it was known for awhile so it's not something I would have thought would have got that kind of reaction because Steam has done it already for years.

I wonder if this is based off of Super Scribblenauts? Gonna wait for some reviews.

In the description:

Play 40 of the most popular levels from Scribblenauts and Super Scribblenauts that will appeal to players of all skill levels.

Also has 10 iOS exclusive levels.

Oh it's an English thing, brilliant used more as a happy reaction than saying something is genius.

He's a Brit, that's how they say 'awesome' or 'hot damn'.

Btw, does the weather fluctuate enough in a day that you need to constantly be shown an up to date forecast whenever you look at your phone?

Ha... I know I personally say "brilliant" a thousandfold after listening/watching to a Ricky Gervais Show marathon.

Rain patterns can change throughout the day. I mostly check it in the morning and in the afternoon, but I don't use it on my phone. I use it on my tablet. I'm still an iPhone user but can recognize the benefit of a weather widget. Why can't we just recognize Android isn't completely useless and give credit where credit is due?

Wow I never even thought of iCloud as a way to do game saves. FUCKING BRILLIANT.

What I want to know is if this will work with non-universal apps.

Would "Angry Birds" (iPhone/iPod Touch) and "Angry Birds HD" be able to share the same save file for example. I'm guessing no since they are technically separate apps.

Hmm, not sure what to do on the case front. I kind of hate cases, used one for about 2 weeks on my 3GS before giving up on it. Have a white 4s coming soon and thinking maybe go bumper. The full body cases just end up making the phone look "cheap" imo. Anyone know of some metal nice looking minimal cases? I saw the one linked earlier in the thread but it isn't compatible with the white 4s for some reason. I though the different white dimensions were proved to be a myth?

I'm really psyched for my iPhone 4s to get here on Friday. Not only will it be my first iphone but it'll be my first cell phone ever :)

Why do people use those big ass clock/weather widgets on Android? Does anyone seriously get any real use out of them?

I don't use them personally, but at least on Android you have the choice to customize the screens to your liking. The iOS homescreens are the laziest design ever, yeah let's just barf all the icons on the screen. Don't tell me that's what your computer desktop looks like also. I don't know how iOS users put up with it.

I wouldn't personally put something like this on my homescreen either, but give me a ring if iPhone ever can

No, my computer desktop looks nothing like my phone screen because they're utterly different devices with different screen sizes, purposes and modes of use. The iOS design isn't lazy, it's simple and elegant and easy to use. If you want a point of comparison, look at what happens when people jailbreak their iPhones and try to improve the design themselves, it's an eye-burning clusterfuck every time. Or just use Android, which gets you much the same result.

I registered with UPS, and told them that I'd prefer to pick up my package at the Service Center.

I'll have my 4s on 10/13/11!
Will that definitely work? Sometimes this kind of product has a street date hold on it.

Watching that video makes me want to switch my order to a white 4S :(((
Just ordered a white 4S to replace my black 4. The Verge's video review helped me make my decision.

Someone hose Gary down before Friday. Multiple times will be needed.
I'm that wonderful/awful place where I'm clicking the order status way too many times. Still nowhere near as bad as the psychos on MacRumors who obsessively call FedEx and are basically gibbering wrecks until their phones arrive.

GF has decided she wants a 4S too (white, just to fuck with me!) so we might go to the Apple Store on Sat/Sun (if I'm still alive after the 24-hour podcast) to see what the situation is. My guess is: fucked.

Not every jailbreak is a clusterfuck though. Some people do nice things with it. The same with Android. Just because you can doesn't mean it's completely useless or there aren't good ideas out of it. It's like complaining about being able to change your lock screen image or your wallpaper or even your custom sounds. Sure some people do irritating things with it but people also do nice things with it. Heck, one of my favorite jailbreak mod is 5 dock. Now that I'm on iOS5, it's so weird to not have 5 dock. Almost restricting.

Restricting? You keep contradicting yourself. It's 'restricting' because you can't add ONE more icon to your dock- yet you're upset that iOS uses the entire screen for icons, and point to the desktop metaphor, wanting almost the entire screen to be composed of a useless background. That's what the lockscreen is for. I've got multiple android devices, and there's nothing more efficient than iOS in terms of getting in and out of apps. iOS5 is jailbreakable- why the hell don't you just jailbreak it again to get the precious 5 dock back? You seem to be bitching for the sake of it, without any real, tangible substance behind the complaints. Just 'it woud be cool to be able to do X, even though I admit X is completely useless'. The sales of iPhones/iPads confirm that most people don't care about this level of customizability, especially when its at the expense of consistency/stability.

I understand the desire for customizability in theory, I just so rarely see a customized UI that looks or works better than the standard one. I can understand where Jobs was coming from on this when he locked it down; he didn't want people going around showing others his beautifully designed phone with a UI they've customized to look like dogshit. It just makes Apple look bad.

Also, extended video of Siri interaction - SO GOOD!

ATT has always had some problems in San Fran, hasn't it?

Hopefully you get some nice improvement by switching.
Definitely, big problems in LA too which is a nightmare for me because if I'm there I'm there on business and can't fuck around with spotty reception and dropped calls. High hopes for Verizon!
