Actually, running the latest Last.fm app on OS X does exactly this. Not sure if it works differently on other platforms.
wait, let me get this straight; the last.fm-app does scrobble the songs you play on your iphone, but can only submit them to last.fm trough iTunes?

That would be good enough for me.

(except I'll miss the lyrics part)

Basically, the Last.fm OS X app checks out your play counts on each sync and ups the data.

The iPhone app doesn't have to be installed for this to work.

What the hell? Why has the iPhone availability checker on Apple down? I can't even see it anymore. WTF!!

They took it down? Well, in most cases it was pretty useless. It only checked at 9PM what was in stock at the stores. Well, the stores got shipments during the day, then sold out before closing. So everyday at 9, it would show no iPhones because at closing, they were sold out. Not sure why they just don't go with a live tracking page.

Just bought my iPhone from Rogers should have it soon.

I'm getting some accessories for it from Belkin. In particular the Armband and the car charger / radio thingy. My iPhone is gonna replace my Ipod Video and I want a good Radio FM transmitter.

Anybody if this will work with the iPhone 3G?

I don't plan on paying that much for one but I want something like that. Suggestions?

Jesus, just get a new car stereo deck that has aux-in for $100. All of the FM transmitters are garbage.

Yeah, some people buy Fords with impossible to replace (well, upgrade) dash decks. Oops!

Of course, mine has a tape deck, which sounds fine when plugged into my iPhone.

I asked this earlier but it went unanswered. Does anyone have tips or know the best way to transfer an iPhone to another computer? My laptop died and I got a new one and I'm trying to get the iPhone to be recognized here for syncing but it's telling me that it's associated with another computer and I'm afraid it's going to try to wipe it out.

I pwned my 1st-gen iPhone today to 2.0. Been running the 1.1.2 FW on T-Mobile for months. Now, all of a sudden, I'm getting a "Network Lost" pop-up every time I lose my signal, which is annoying the hell out of me considering how often I lose service (T-Mobile is the worst service provider I've ever had). How do I turn this notice off? It's driving me crazy!

Switch it to Automatic? Mine did this earlier when I was in the Cinema, if its on Auto it will just jump on and off as need be.

Ah, ok. Thanks!

Right now I'm in an area with such bad service that it won't even give me the option. I'll see if it lets me switch it when I leave here.

Are you trying to move phone data and music or just data? If it is just data you can sync data, just make sure none of the boxes are checked for "replace information on this iPhone" under the advanced section in the info tab.

Hmm.. So is it an easy task to 'upgrade' from an iTouch to an iPhone? In other words. In iTunes can I just plug in the phone and it automatically dumps all my music on there, including the few albums I purchased on iTunes?

It should know that the phone is a new device and be able to move all my crap on there automatically right?

Yeah I had a iPod Touch before (don't hurt me Juice :P) and when I got my iPhone I just wacked it on and it copied it everything over. However I haven't put my iPod Touch back on so I dunno what's happened to that.

Excellent. Thanks. Sounds like the exact situation I'll have. I'm giving my touch to my wife once the phone is in my hands.

I really hope they port Mobile Scrobbler and iFlicker to 2.0... :(

What T-Mobile plan are you using? It looks like I may have to quit T-Mobile Pay As You Go if I ever want to get internet access on an unlocked iPhone, so I'd be interested in whatever voice+data plans they have.
Just a regular single plan with 1 extra line and $5.99 T-Zones plan.
I pay about $60-70 for two phones per month.

Do you have to have a proxy server to get t-zones to work? I thought it was just some proprietary network of features, and you had to hack your way around it to get to the "real" internet?

Well preferrably everything so I don't have to go through the hassle of getting my videos and music back since I haven't recovered my HDD yet. The problem is whenever I try anything it pops up message that states:

"This iPhone is synced with another iTunes library. Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with this library?"

I'm trying to avoid wiping out the iPhone right now. I'm going out of town in two days and wanted to drop some additional content on it, but this is preventing me from adding or removing anything at this point.

It means you're connected to the Interwebs via GPRS

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Packet_Radio_Service

I imagine only the 3G iPhone can connect to it, since I haven't seen it since 2.0 came out.

Then what they need to display is a pile of steaming shit, or a pile of hot garbage because that's what your connectivity will be like. And yes the older iPhones can connect to GPRS as well and the performance IS a steaming pile of shit.

NeoGAF XML parser update:

I've completed the thread view XML parser and added pagination to both. For example: The following link will output the Off-Topic forum's (id 3) third page of topics. I've added nodes to explain which page you're viewing and how many are available. Leaving the page value off defaults to page 1.

http://www.secondapps.com/neogaf/forum.php?f=3&page=3

The following link will show this page's full XML data (id 160872, page 159).

I agree that an iPhone skin for vvBulletin would be the easiest and fastest solution and also make hosting a non-issue. However, there are still advantages to having a true native iPhone app from a UI/feature standpoint... especially if we ever want good thread creation and reply posting. Imagine being able to integrate your iPhone's photo gallery and camera, etc.

As for building a simple Safari webapp off of this XML data, I think that is something I'm still going to do simply because I think it would be something fun to attempt. :D

Phoenix Interface Update

I have an interface that now parses this XML and brings it all up in a UITable. The XML parsing was a little squirrely for reasons that I won't go into. ETA on a complete browsing app is about 2 weeks. When this app is done I will open source it and send it to the folks at vbulletin so they can maintain and improve with their future releases.

I don't think we'll see one till apps can use background processes, plus I believe apps don't have access to your music library. Maybe wrong though, is one thing that was nice about jailbroken phones.

Applications "can" have access to your music library, however building "music stores" is something we're forbidden from building in the TOS of the SDK. So yes +1 for jailbroken, however people are simply working around it by building "off phone" streaming solutions. Actually Last.fm is known to be working something similar.

You just change the the server address to that of T-Mobile's in one of the network settings, that's all you have to do.

When you jailbreak, you'll get the installer app, or Cydia app, and from there you can even download install the T-Zones hack and it does all the work for you.
I did it manually and it stopped working, downloaded the hack from installer and it's worked perfectly for months.

Please let me know if you need the XML to do anything it's not already doing. I've tried to cover all of the bases but a second opinion is always welcome.

I'm willing to give out my PHP code but I doubt it's all that useful to anyone but us. The code is kinda ugly because the HTML tags in the template NeoGAF is using aren't all uniquely defined so I had to rely on traversing the dom manually to get at some. If NeoGAF changes their skin, I have to update the PHP script to work with it. My script also won't work with other vbulletin forums without some adjustments. If vbulletin made outputting of this kind of XML data a part of their software, it'd make the need for my scripts obsolete,

Thinking big picture, imagine how cool would it be if all forum software developers decided to standardize on outputting the kind of XML I whipped up? A whole new category of client software would emerge made specifically for browsing online forums similar to the way RSS readers read blogs.

This is absolutely needed long term for message boards to retain viability.

I got a Sony deck that works perfectly. Charges the phone, super fast browsing, and silences the music when playing. Best investment for my car I ever bought

Is the app gonna be on the App store or on cydia/installer?

Also is it 2 weeks until your portion of the neogaf app is done, or 2 weeks until the entire app is ready to be put up for distribution?

Thanks for all the hard work you've all been doing on the app!

Unless there are some changes to the XML (which I doubt) and so long as I leave it as a browsing/reading application - it will be submitted to the appstore (I don't jail break my phone anymore so unless I run into a reason to jail break - it will be in the appstore) in about 2 weeks or so to allow for sufficient testing. Then we'll deal with posting stuff to the forum in another release a few weeks later.

Thank me when its actually done :)

ok I can finally sync my phone again

how do I update to the official 2.0 firmware? i'm still running the leaked one and it says it's current in iTunes.

Download the official version from somewhere (not sure where)

Hit hold shift and hit the RESTORE button (under where it's saying your version is current) and it'll prompt you to find the FW manually on your computer.

Yeah I figured that's what I need to do. Anyone have a link to the official one?

is there a known bug related to push email? both my girlfriend's and my phone decides to randomly check to see if there is new email for us. sometimes we get it right when it's sent, other times it doesn't show up until we force it to check for email. when we got up this morning, my girlfriend's phone had not checked for email since 1030 last night.

we both have the phone switch to wi-fi when we're in our condo, is that a problem? could some of the apps we downloaded somehow have messed with this feature?

When I was having battery issues last week I did a restore, and iTunes downloaded the proper version to restore with. Cleared up the battery issues too, which was good.

There is one thing that would make life easier:

Code:
	<thread sticky="false" new="false">
		<guid>327976</guid>
<title>Do you want cheese on that?</title>
		<starter>Teh Hamburglar</starter>
		<lastUpdate>Mon, 21 Jul 2008 18:57:00 -0700</lastUpdate>
		<lastPoster>Jasoco</lastPoster>
		<replies>106</replies>
		<views>3,266</views>
		[b]<link>http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=327976</link>[/b]
	</thread>

The link is fine, but I also need some way to navigate from the thread to the messages for a thread. While I could build the URL based off what you're sending me - it would become a hardcoded way to do things. What I could prefer is that you have:

Code:
	<thread sticky="false" new="false">
		<guid>327976</guid>
<title>Do you want cheese on that?</title>
		<starter>Teh Hamburglar</starter>
		<lastUpdate>Mon, 21 Jul 2008 18:57:00 -0700</lastUpdate>
		<lastPoster>Jasoco</lastPoster>
		<replies>106</replies>
		<views>3,266</views>
		<link>http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=327976</link>[/b]
[b]<posts>http://www.secondapps.com/neogaf/thread.php?t= 327976</posts>[/b] (note sending the page doesn't appear to be necessary since the thread Id appears to be unique in the forum)
	</thread>

i'm having trouble getting an answer from the apple site:

if i sell my touch, but i bought a bunch of apps, can i redownload them to a new touch down the road? or are those apps tied to one device?
