Have you guys seen this video?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hy0ptZisr70

It's for a game called "Trism" that's coming out for the iPhone/iPod Touch that's sort of the next gen of Bejewled and it really shows the potential of gaming on the iPhone. It uses the phones accelerompeter to decide which direction the gems should slide. Very cool looking.

I guess it's going to be available for Jailbroken phones soon, and hopefully this is an indicator of some of the stuff we can expect out of the SDK as well. Awesome stuff.

Thats actually really cool. I'd definitely pay a couple bucks for that on iTunes.

Yeah I got the latest firmware today. It's been crashing a lot with 1.1.3

That sucks man, I think mine has only crashed once since i got it in december.

Okay, iPhone + AppleTV + "Signal" = Pure Sex

iphone_05_small.jpg

I can now use my iPhone as a universal music remote in my home theater with almost all the UI gizmos of the native iPod interface. [No jailbreak necessary; signal runs a daemon on the server]

Just awesome.

I'm ok with Apple being the Gatekeeper. It would likely keep the quality of the apps at a much higher level and insure stability and security on the iPhone, which they've maintained all along was their primary concern. The only problem is how long it'll take to certify the apps as is mentioned in that post. Look how long it took Microsoft to get up to speed with XBLA. Apple could be faced with something similar.

But everything else in that iLounge "rumor" is pretty much spot on with what has been expected all along.

I'm pretty shocked anyone thought it would be anything other than this, to be honest.

wow, jailbreaking the iphone was easy, wish id done it sooner. anyone know of a mms app for the iphone. the only mms app i found (LINK) isnt on installer and the link on the devs page is dead. even if it just gives me the ability to send picture messages i'll ecstatic

thanks

I haven't tried it yet, but the other MMS app is SwirlyMMS and should come up in Installer if you just list all applications.

What's the best case for it?I'm in Canada so I don't see anything beside on the net. What's the verdict Gaf.With a case or not?

I don't have a case for mine, it's just loose in a pocket all the time. I've been careful not to drop it but it did slip out of my hands a couple times. Nary a scratch on it and I've had it since launch. I'd say don't bother with a case. Kinda ruins the aesthetic IMO. Never liked iPod cases either.

I vote without case as well.

The screen seems indestructible, and as the back isn't chrome like the iPods it doesnt scratch either.

They can be slippy though! Which can be interesting after a few beers. Mine's survived 2 falls in the 6 months I've had it, just a tiny dent in the corner though ...

Same here! I've been amazed at how robust the iPhone is. Only one minor corner dent after several drops onto hard surfaces, and I think nothing of throwing it into my pocket with my keys. No case required.

I keep mine in a 20$ silicone case with a headphone management thing on the back. Much better than having the headphones tangle up whenever I put em in my pocket.

I had a case for mine, but the phone seemed to bulky with it on, iPhone's are meant to be sexy.

You might not have tow wait that long for a 32gb model. Maybe this summer.

Main reason I have a case on mine is because it is so 'slippery'. Not easy to get a grip on with that chrome or whatever back for me. Still take a risk by dropping it, no matter how tough it is.

However, the Agent 18s aren't too bulky at all and they make a 'clear' one. Slides right on and fits in the pocket easily.

Mine goes caseless.

I have some scratches on the back and on the chrome edge, but the screen is pristine.

Had mine since day 1. I'll get another when they intro a 3G version with 16gb or more storage.

I picked up the Paul Frank skulls case at the store earlier last month. While it adds a little to the thickness, I like it. Only downside is that it likes lint and it's not as easy to just slide it out of your pocket. Most of my jeans are baggier though so I don't have have too much of a problem with that.

i installed swirly but it keeps crashing. it worked once, but after that no luck. still don't know why Apple doesn't fix the minor issues with the iphone. Couldnt be that hard to make the phone send txt to multiple contacts or pic messages....

This has already been added.

i want an iphone so bad, but i wont bite until there is a 32GB 3G version.

i'll be waiting for a while.. huh?

:(

Yep. I'm waiting for one with an amount of memory that doesn't suck and for it to be on a service provider that isn't the worst in the country.

It's a shame because it's such an awesome device, but I'm not going to give into that when it's on piece of shit AT&T.

What was their contract? 5 years?

I'm not understanding your post. The iPhone isn't available at Sprint.

I tried with and without case more for protection than caring about aesthetics. I don't care if its pretty, its a tool for me and one that I don't want to destroy easily. After dealing with it with/without case I still favor without case. ALL of the cases add just enough bulk and friction to the phone to make it unfriendly for dropping it into my pants or make it difficult to remove from my pants.

Please. 16 GB of Flash sucks? Compared to HDD based devices perhaps, but it hardly "sucks". I've got the 8 GB version, have several hundred songs on it, the complete original Star Wars Trilogy, Raiders of the Lost Ark, the new Indy trailer, and 10-12 video podcasts and still have 3+ GB of free space.

As for AT&T, I switched to them from Verizon when I bought the iPhone, and haven't missed a beat. I pretty much can't tell any difference in the service at all, and it has been rock solid where ever I've tried to use it, which includes traveling throughout the country since buying the iPhone. I had T-Mobile for one long, horrible year, and AT&T blows them right out of the water. Considering they're the only other GSM game in town.

As for a case. I have an Incase holster that I use in certain situations, but go caseless when I'm going casual. My phone looks like it just came out of the package with the exception of smudges on the screen from being used. :D

Why can't I find any iphone compatible clock radios? All of them seem to require the iphone to be in airplane mode. :-/

Any phone when put next to an audio system goes berko when it receives wireless data.

It would become annoying very fast, unless you separated the two via a cable of some sort.

There's no way to shield the clock radio or something?

You could put it in a faraday cage, but then you wouldn't receive radio signals (FM/AM).

Why do you need a clock radio that you can plug your phone into ? I have one to wake me up in the morning, but I always just slam it off and get out of bed...

Yes they can shield it, but it's just likely that no one has released one yet. I'm sure they're coming though, as I've seen iPhone shielded speaker systems out already and more coming soon.

Can you all list your favorite apps from Installer. These are the ones I use

-iAno
-Drummer
-Summerboard
-weDict
-Sendsong
-Dressup
-Whisper
-Quest
-SwirlyMMS

These are some I would like if I can get em to work

-iPhysics, downloaded it but I dont understand why the level packs show up. Although I did see today a thing on Installer saying it fixes that but I havent given that a go. Does that really work? And are the level packs good? What are some I should dl? They have so damn many.

It works, (apprently with the 1.1.3 update the folders changed, so iPhyics wouldn't be able to find your downloaded maps because it's putting them in the wrong place. The fix works.

Try the JungZandvliet level pack 1 and 2 and iPinball. iPinball shows you how far the iPhysics engine can go, along with other gimmicky map packs that are cool. Other than that, just download some and see which ones suck and which ones don't I guess. JungZ's are my favorite by far

The GSM shielded docking stereos are starting to come out now. There is an Altec Lansing unit at the Apple store now for $199 I think. I'm sure clock radio's will be out soonish.

That being said, the iPhone is a clock radio. It's how I wake up in the morning.

Your iPhone does AM/FM?

I like how you responded to me explaining why I wouldn't be getting it by saying 16 GB is okay for you.

And no, not everyone OBVIOUSLY will hate AT&T. It doesn't suck for everyone. But it's widely looked at as the worst of the big three. Verizon is probably the best in most people's opinions, but I use and enjoy T-Mobile.

You'll have to pardon KFJ, while Apple was mixing the Kool-Aid he fell into the vat. As with any cell provider, your mileage will vary wildly depending on where you live. If AT&T sucks where you live and where you go, then you shouldn't even be considering the iPhone unless you plan on unlocking it.

Even with that, I'd wait a little - you've waited this long anyway, what's a few more months? - to see what happens with the 3G version. For a device that so heavily pushes "the real Internet," EDGE is kind of a shitty way to access it.

Personally, that's item #1 on my list of shit that Apple needs to address before I start to take a serious look at the iPhone. #2 is, yes, more storage. Like you, I can fill up even 16GB without even thinking about it. #3 is convincing me that I should give up the awesome camera on my K790.

(To be honest I may just get a Touch instead.)

I just wish it were on T-Mobile at least. I have and love the Sidekick LX, and I would probably easily switch to the iPhone if it had a little more space.

Well, there are well-documented ways of, um, forcing it off of AT&T. Probably somewhere in this thread, several times over.

can anyone recommned a video convertor? i have videora, but the vid crashes after 10 or so seconds of playing. if i skip through those first couple seconds it appears to work tho.

^

Videora works wonderfully. Consider changing the encoding bitrate. 2-pass for better IQ.
