Yes. My phone is stuck in "slide for emergency" mode while I try to access itunes to get it reactivated. This is my only phone too, no land line or backup cell.

I was without a phone for two and a half days last year when I bought my iPhone. I'm very glad I went ahead and installed the beta 2.0 last night and dodged this bullet.

Persevere. 2.0 is worth it.

tell ya the truth, i think it's really worth the hassle to try it out for 2 months free.

just make a note to cancel on a certain date, i'm sure it's easy to do.

Dunno. I must not jinx this glorious moment.

I will probably cut someone if my contacts are erased though.
 
all 4 ATT stores were sold out as soon as the opened around me and the Apple store still had a 3+ hour wait 3 hours after opening.

So I said screw it a and went to order from the next batch at an ATT store... then in the middle of that they sold out of black 16GB, so I had to settle with white. I'm seriously considering returning my receipt for the white one if I can grab a black one at the Apple store in the next few days.

wow, these applications are awesome. AOL Radio lets me listen to my favorite radio stations, pandora searches for all the music i like, aim works great, NY Times is cool, and remote is very useful.
 
Not worth starting a thread about, but iTunes 7.7 fixed a really freaking annoying bug I was having. My podcasts weren't being organized correctly on my 2nd gen iPod Nano, but now they are! :D

Well syncing right now... i panicked because my Iphone is a blank slate but after the sync process I'll get all my contacts/settings/media etc back?

Back in business. 2.0 up and running, everything is retained and all is well.

Now to go buy a 3G.
 
Fuck man...

I've been in line since 7AM and just got home right now. Six or seven hours of waiting in line just to get in the store, then another hour sitting around one of their MacBooks waiting for the phone to activate (before I gave up and told em I'd do it at home). What a great first impression of the iPhone 3G, Apple... There was probably 200 or 300 people behind me too, feel sorry for them :lol

Yeah based on how long it was taking to move people in and out of the store the people at the end of my line were probably still going to be there late afternoon, if they hadn't run out of phones by then.

Yeah, I played around with this on the demo model when I got mine. We were inside a mall and when it found our signal right over our exact spot, one of the salesguys turned to me in surprise and said "wow, it can do that?" It was like I was the one selling this thing to the salesguy.

Now I know a week from now I have alot of people to hit up for info when I get mine!
 
Man Apple has people buying these up so damn fast :lol

50+ people in line at my closest AT&T store in line for over an hour to pick one up. The best part? No 3g in Alaska until MAYBE next year :lol :lol :lol
 
Well, it is still cheaper than the previous iPhone. So I'm guessing these are Alaskan's who wanted the iPhone (regardless off 3G) but couldn't afford it before.

I've got it registered and working. Now the problem is it's telling me "Cannot copy XXX to iPhone. Device timed out."

Anyone have this problem?
 
Quick question, and I bet something similar has been asked before, but this thread is HUGE.

I currently have an AT&T wireless contract for my smart phone. I want one of the new iPhones. Do I *have* to get it from an AT&T store since I will have to fuck around with my current contract, or will they be able to do what I need to do from an Apple store?

i bought 3 games last night that i'd love to actually use on my touch, and the touch website has a big '2.0 buy it now click here!!' button, but it's useless right now.

Look at the contacts and pictures tabs and make sure they're checked, they should sync if they are.

Seriously:

Apple finally released (officially) its iPhone 2.0 software this morning, but iPod touch 2.0 software has yet to make an appearance. We were told by an anonymous source that the software was supposed to be available through Software Update at 5am PDT, but has yet to go up due to unforeseen issues.

Out of curiosity, where did you go?

I casually went past an Orange shop in the center of Zurich 30 mins before opening, saw a few people queuing and decided to join. I was number 27 in to the store and there was still 8gb black or 16gb white iPhones available at that point.
 
Should iTunes be telling me my non-3G iPhone has an update available - because it keeps telling me that 1.1.4 is the latest software revision and won't let me update at all. This is so damn annoying.

I think there is, but it's pay (like $3), doesn't hold orientation, and is 640x480. There is an app though. I'm using Sodasnap, but it doesn't post to Flickr.
