You can tap the entire word correction bubble and it'll reject the change. try it out.

Thanks. Very cool. I must admit I'm liking this phone a lot and now that I can void the auto correction I'm pretty much used to the touch screen. Now to find a case...

I'm kind of happy with some of the icons I found.

I'm not happy with the weather or the photo one...

The weather one just looks kind of assy.

And is there anyway I could get the lensflare off the clouds on the photo one?

The squid is VNC, and the rainbow is GAF.

Heh, it's probably been 10 months since I've played the iPhone in anything OTHER than shuffle, so I don't really get it.

I guess I like to hear thing in album order sometimes and other times not?

I've never really understood why people try and imply that others don't need something solely because they themselves don't.

Bottom line its fairly stupid of them not to include the shake to shuffle in this update.

This is Apple, the company that puts non-DVD burners in their lowest priced MacBook to differentiate it. They love arbitrary separation of their products, and for the shake, it's only on the Nano because it's a Nano feature and they want you to buy the Nano.

Is there a way to turn off the auto correction? If not, is there a way to add words I use that aren't in the dictionary?
Yes, there's an application available in Cydia. I'm not sure what it's called but I remember seeing it.

what did u use?

im on an unlocked 1.1.4, want to make the jump but i know it requires a restore, and im not sure what all i will lose on my phone if i do
You will need to upgrade to 2.0.2 and then upgrade to 2.1. There's a writeup somewhere on howardforums.com using winpwn.

Basically, you'll need to go back and forth between iTunes 7.7 and 8.0 so it's a good idea to have two computers.

I don't think it is. I think they want you to want a Nano to go with your iPhone.

Didn't mean to not commiserate earlier, but with only 8GB, I'd need to manually drag and drop albums to even get complete albums on the phone, which would be way too time consuming, so all Ive ever gotten to work with it are smart playlists.

Will winpwn be updating at some point? I only have the phone for a short while, so I've only used 2.5. I'm hoping to stay with that program for hacking my phone. PEACE.

EDIT: Never mind! :)

It should be soon.

A good solution is just to manually play the podcast through safari.

Yeah that's what I've been doing. But it's a pain in the ass. Streaming a 2 hour podcast can just get messy sometimes. Pausing and the odd disconnect can break the stream and I have to start from scratch again. One of the reasons I bought the MacBook was to have another system around that could transfer files to my iPhone when I'm away from work. Boy is my face red. And what an incredibly retarded idea that only one computer can transfer content.

Hellsing321 said:
You can play and view the files through the air sharing app, as long as the iPhone supports the files type. Not the most elegant way to do things but you'll at least be able to listen the the podcast.

Oh, nice. Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a go today. It's laughable that a third party app has to come along to add this basic functionality. It's pretty embarrassing for Apple if you ask me.

It sucks if you really need to sync an iPod/Phone with two computers.. but it's been the rule for about 7 years now.
There is an app called podcaster... that was just denied from the app store.. but I think the dev is selling it and distributing through ad-hoc or something. I only read the summary article about the whole thing on giz the other day.

Just like an iPod, an iPhone can only sync with one computer at a time.

auto syncing, yeah, but the ipod can have 'manually manage' turned on and access content from multiple computers, while the iphone can't. especially annoying when i moved from an ipod touch to the iphone and found the feature was gone.

Indeed. This just seems like such a backwards way to do things. I'm completely baffled as to how Apple thought this was a good idea. I hope they fix it at some point.

The Air Sharing app worked perfectly by the way. Connected to it via the MacBook and dragged and dropped the podcast from iTunes into the wedav window. Then from inside Air Sharing I could just click on the file and off it went, as though the phone was playing any other quicktime content.

I'm surprised this app was free for a while. They could have made so much money from it initially. Hell, I would have bought it.

Well it's a limitation of the App Store. There are no demos, so putting something up for free for a short while will get the word of mouth going. If they came out and charged, it wouldn't have gotten as much attention or had enough people say "get this, it works and it's good." Now that people like you have used it and know it works and posted about it, it'll sell more than it would have otherwise.

Anyone hear have the white Iphone? I'm going to finally jump onto the wagon and buy one tomorrow, but I still haven't decided between white or black. I really want the white one to be different, but black looks pretty sleek too. Does the white one look a lot better in person? Can anyone who's got one post pics?

There are "lite" versions of apps so you can try them out.
Wish more apps did this, though I prefer free. :)

Sorry if this has been asked: when using the AIM app, does each message sent/received count towards my text message limit, or is it free?

I have a white one, I may look a little less "cool" (but then thats up to what you define cool) then an all black thing but the finger prints you can't see on the white are much better!

It looks just as nice in person, the photos make it look a bit meh.

So an iPhone can only sync with one computer? There is no manually manage option?
That sucks.

It also means having to have all your music etc in your iTunes library.
I don't want to slow down my shitty computer with that much stuff, I usually delete most of it. :(

You can set it to manually manage.. but you can't drag music onto it like you can an ipod. I have mine set to manually manage.. so I can sync or not sync as the case may be.. but you can't drag music to it or play music from it like you can with a touch.

I can drag music to mine in manual.

you can drag it on as normal, but it will only work on one computer.

:(

That's a big negative for me but I'm still going to get one.
Has Apple came out and said anything about this?
Is there any logical reason for doing this?

2.1 is the real deal. I've gone through 2 full days of heavy usage without a single crash. This is coming from an average of 10 crashes a day. I'm pretty impressed. Way smoother to boot. I can actually type gaf replies now without the keyboard spazzing out, like I did just now.

Now get the fuck on copy + paste and other basic features, apple.

Well I'm using it on an I-Pod touch and two apps I was downloading while updating won't complete downloading. And when I go to the app store to try and re-download, it says they're installed.

So if you set your iPhone to manually manage music, may you use more than one computer like iPods?

didnt read your other posts, but if you have ur phone jailbroken, you can download a program called SwapTunes. you basically have 2 libraries on the iphone. press the button and computer 1's music shows, press again and comp 2 shows. good stuff

yeah, pages load heaps faster on safari for me too, and no keyboard lag at all. good stuff :)

This is my experience as well. Syncing is back to 1.0 speeds, and downloading apps directly on the phone works much better. And not one crash as of yet. Fantastic update.

The phone works faster, contacts doesn't lag, less crashes, etc. I did have an issue installing an app, but otherwise the functionality on the phone has definitely improved. One thing I HAVEN'T gotten is better battery life. Still terrible for me. And I'm on Edge. :(

21. is great so far. The contacts load faster, so that issue is out of the way. I still hate the t9 function, really its has to go.
I haven't really tried the battery life, but I hope its better.
Only thing that went bad is the Note app. It launches slower and it has taken over the lag from the Contacts app. Am I the only one with this?

So does the IM+ application only work with a Wifi connection? That is fucking lame, Usually when I have a wifi connection I use my laptop. So I guess I should be asking, is there any IM application that doesnt require wifi? and can use the 3g network to connect?

IM+ works over 3G for. Have you tried Parlingo?

this happened to me as well.
I downloaded a small free app later and left it alone. The app I was missing magically appeared next to the free one.

Really? Everytime I try to connect over 3G, it keeps telling me Connection could not be established(internet connection error). Am I doing something wrong?
And as for parlingo, do you not need a seperate parlingo account ?

I'm on a 1.1.4 iPhone, and for whatever reason my time stamps on my text messages seem to be off by 4 or so hours. quite annoying.

Any solutions?

I'm having 2.1 crash Safari way more frequently... I hope this wasn't their answer to Safari hogging the Sandbox RAM for third party apps.

Wait, so I want to make sure I read this right, I can use a IM program like AIM to send text messages and it won't hit my count???? That's awesome!!!!! Any other App secret's I should know about? Someone should make skype mobile so i can talk unlimitedly, lol.

If i'm not mistaken though, you'd need to both be signed on for the convenience of a normal text message.
