How close to the last upgrade did they let people do an early upgrade to the 3g from 2g?
Also as for the photos, most of that looks like 3.0 software items though?

Indeed. It is quite good. The only problem I have with it is when you go into mail as you won't know which account you're in since that interface was designed for top-down drill in navigation and Spotlight will drop you in it in a random-access way.

So, I originally wanted the Palm Pre but Sprint is continuing to sabotage itself by apparently requiring people to extend their contract to buy a Pre(no retail price sales) and they won't bump up your upgrade date like Apple/AT&T did, instead you have to wait.
This angers me and is the icing on the cake.
So, I will probably get the new iPhone as long as it's battery is a bit better and the rumors are true and the back is no longer plastic, as I hate how that feels.
My father has 3.0 on his iPhone and I'm pretty impressed with aspects of it, like Spotlight and sideways texting. It is kinda slow to reorient itself for landscape texting, hopefully that gets faster.
So, yeah. I might be joining the iPhone crew in July. Either way I'm winning this summer.

Available today sounds like you can order it from the Apple Store and they'll ship it to you later vs "Go pick this up RIGHT NOW!!!".
Like the nice little green light to indicate the camera is on if that's real. The little consistencies across product lines that make features like that instantly recognizable to the end user.

And yeah, iSight consistency across all products isn't just sensible, it'd be totally silly for Apple not to leverage the brand.

It really is a rough graphic design where the hardware is fixed, but the software (for video chat) wasn't yet available.

That said, I'm fearful it'll require something absurd like "video minutes" as a separate allotment. Hopefully Apple would have been fighting this, since the simplicity of the iPhone EDGE pricing plan was revolutionary at the time.

But the iPhone is the 8 million pound gorilla, because its users actually USE all of the features that require bandwidth, and AT&T is far more restrictive of what goes on it.
Additionally, because every little thing the iPhone can do becomes so instantly high profile, AT&T knows that anything it allows on the iPhone it must permanently tolerate on its network for all other phones too, or suffer a backlash.
