quoting myself to see if anyone has opinions....don't own an iphone yet but expect to in a couple months and want to know if it's at least a great way to read all those sample chapters...mattiewheels said:so is the kindle app really nice? i see it's not 100% integrated, but you can buy a book from the safari site and read it instantly. do a lot of people use it, or is it not that great (customization, etc)?
That looks like the new iPhone, look at the second to last pic, the top looks different.MrOctober said:Are those supposedly pictures of things coming with the 3.0 update for all iphones or exclusive to the new iphone?
Phoenix said:I can confirm all of these.

Phoenix said:Correction, I can confirm most of these. A couple of these don't display the same as shown with the setup I have. That must be a later or internal firmware release that will be coming out at WWDC or something.
Spotlight search is really, really good.DoctorWho said:That might be a reflection from a light source. You don't see any difference in some of the pics.
I guess we aren't getting sorted categories in 3.0? It seems like the only natural next step considering how many apps exist. I want some sort of categories page.
Quite possibly.cjelly said:So, when 3.0 comes out with all these fancy new features, does that mean Apple will pull any apps which duplicate the functionality of the phone?

My memory is a little hazy, but the speedometer screen at the bottom middle looks really like a battery power guage wallpaper/screensaver you can buy from Jamster. I saw it advertised on TV last week.neojubei said:
That's the camera app. Someone took a picture of their car's speedometer. It's just showing the new preview icon in the lower left of the camera app, and the still photo/video toggle in the lower right. I think the speedometer is irrelevant.kojacker said:My memory is a little hazy, but the speedometer screen at the bottom middle looks really like a battery power guage wallpaper/screensaver you can buy from Jamster. Weren't the previous two iPhone announced and then released a month or so later or something like that?
Available today sounds like you can order it from the Apple Store and they'll ship it to you later vs "Go pick this up RIGHT NOW!!!".
Like the nice little green light to indicate the camera is on if that's real. The little consistencies across product lines that make features like that instantly recognizable to the end user.

That just makes me a sad panda.

...I'm going to go out on a limb and say that they won't let you do it over 3G, and will mandate WIFI for video chat if it's in there.
Phoenix said:VideoChat over WIFI only == FAIL.
I'll feel a little bad for AT&T if the jailbreak community finds a way around that restriction.Phoenix said:VideoChat over WIFI only == FAIL.
Juice said:Yeah, I honestly believe Apple could easily justify the ROI for 3G video chat strain to AT&T given the increased smartphone market share the first major video phone in America would earn them and the increased revenue per existing customer it would net in upgrades to smart phones from normal talk plans.
That said, I'm fearful it'll require something absurd like "video minutes" as a separate allotment. Hopefully Apple would have been fighting this, since the simplicity of the iPhone EDGE pricing plan was revolutionary at the time.

Tamanon said:Either way, it'll have to be a function compatible with another network too since they won't be the only ones with the iphone any more in a month.
Tamanon said:AT&T already has videochat on other phones for just a monthly fee.
Juice said:I would not take the statement you just made for granted, if you're referring to the US.

What is a feature that would make it "great" for you?!
Juice said:You're right. I thought of this too. Either they're overzealous and want that light to appear in all the media to make it clear that it's a new feature (since most people will recognize it)
-or-
It really is a rough graphic design where the hardware is fixed, but the software (for video chat) wasn't yet available.

The green light could just be a general "recording active" indicator, for both audio and video.
Juice said:Front-facing camera spy shot. Yes yes yes. This is the only thing I've wanted in the iPhone since February 2006. I'm in for two if this is real. (via cultofmac)
